TL;DR
- The Scorchflame Plate Armor is a 5-piece dragon-themed armor set found mainly in the Demeniss region.
- No boss kills required to collect all 5 pieces — just exploration and the Stab skill.
- The Gloves are in the Twilight Grotto behind a waterfall near Blue Ripple Hearth.
- The Cloak is in the Secret Hills Hideout nearby — defeat the Grave Walker boss to access it.
- The Boots are in Cascade Grotto behind the Denn River waterfall.
- The Helm is in a tower at Stonewell Farm, northeast of Demeniss.
- The Chest piece is behind a rotating wooden door at the Golden Trading Post.
- The set boosts Fire Resistance and is one of the best-looking mid-game armor sets available.
The Scorchflame Plate Armor set, also known as the Flame Knight armor, is one of the most striking sets you can collect in Crimson Desert. It has a full dragon-scale appearance that makes your character look like a fire lord, and it comes with solid Fire Resistance stats to back it up.
The best part? You do not need to defeat any bosses to collect all five pieces. Every piece sits in a treasure chest somewhere in the Demeniss region, most of them hidden behind waterfalls and inside caves. You just need to know where to go and how to get in.
This guide covers every piece of the Scorchflame set from start to finish.
What Is the Scorchflame Armor Set?
The Scorchflame Plate Armor set was once worn by Tristan, the Flame Knight — a decorated soldier who commands fire-based attacks from within the Flame Knight’s Castle on the western side of Demeniss. The armor looks like it has been layered with dragon scales and carries the warmth of the Order’s secret Dragon’s Flame even now.
The set is made up of five pieces:
- Scorchflame Plate Gloves — Twilight Grotto
- Scorchflame Plate Cloak — Secret Hills Hideout
- Scorchflame Plate Helm — Stonewell Farm
- Scorchflame Plate Armor (Chest) — Golden Trading Post
- Embersteps Leather Boots (Scorchflame Boots) — Cascade Grotto
Note that the boots appear in-game under the name “Embersteps Leather Boots.” This appears to be a naming oversight, but they are confirmed to be part of the Scorchflame set based on their item description and stats.
Also worth knowing: equipping the full set does not unlock any set bonus. Each piece provides its own individual stats. That said, the Fire Resistance stacks across pieces, and the full set can be reinforced through the Kuku System at Grimnir’s Workshop, which keeps it competitive well into the endgame. Check out our guide on how to get better equipment and how to reinforce equipment in Crimson Desert to make the most of the set once you have it.
How to Get the Scorchflame Plate Gloves
Location: Twilight Grotto — Near Blue Ripple Hearth, Hernand Border
The gloves are the first piece you should grab, and they also contain the Volcanic Eruption Abyss ability, making them the most valuable piece of the set.
Head to the Twilight Grotto, which sits near the Hernand and Demeniss border close to Blue Ripple Hearth. When you reach the area, follow the path down to the bottom of the waterfalls to find the cave entrance. You will see a waterfall blocking the entrance to the cave. Stand in front of the waterfall and use your Stab skill to push through the water. This stops you from getting knocked back and lets you enter the hidden cave.

Follow the path inside and you will find a treasure chest with the Scorchflame Plate Gloves inside.
The Stab skill is key to unlocking several pieces of this set. If you are not sure how to use it, check our guide on parrying, countering, and dodging in Crimson Desert for a breakdown of combat skills.
How to Get the Scorchflame Plate Cloak
Location: Secret Hills Hideout — Near Twilight Grotto

The Cloak is at the same location as the Gloves but requires a bit more work to reach.
After exiting the Twilight Grotto, look for a narrow path to the left. Follow it through and you will reach a hidden area called the Secret Hills Hideout. There is a boss here called the Grave Walker who you will need to defeat to freely move around the area.

Once the Grave Walker is down, climb up the marked wall nearby. Use Force Palm on the wall to reveal a hidden entrance. If Force Palm keeps pushing you outward, use the resist option while on the wall first, then use Force Palm. This is the trick that many players miss. Go through the secret opening and you will find the treasure chest with the Scorchflame Plate Cloak.

How to Get the Embersteps Leather Boots (Scorchflame Boots)
Location: Cascade Grotto — Denn River Waterfall, West of Demeniss
Head to the Denn River, west of the “D” in “Demeniss” on the map. You will find a waterfall along the river. Face the waterfall and use the Stab skill again to push through and enter the Cascade Grotto cave behind it.
Inside the cave you will find a treasure chest containing the Embersteps Leather Boots, which are the Scorchflame set boots despite the different name. The chest is straightforward to reach once you are inside.
How to Get the Scorchflame Plate Helm
Location: Stonewell Farm — Northeast of Demeniss

Head to Stonewell Farm, which sits northeast of Demeniss. There is a small building at the center of the farm. Climb up the side of the building to reach the upper floor.

Inside the upper floor, open the treasure chest to get the Scorchflame Plate Helm. One thing to watch out for: there is a large hole in the middle of the floor in front of the chest. Approach it carefully from the side to open the chest safely.
If you have not yet completed the main quest “Traitor,” the farm may be blockaded by Bastier’s Inquisitors. However, you do not need to finish the quest to loot the helm. You can still get in and grab it. Speaking of Bastier, if you need to deal with him at some point, our guide on how to beat Lucian Bastier in Crimson Desert has you covered.
How to Get the Scorchflame Plate Armor (Chest)
Location: Golden Trading Post — North of Demeniss

Head to the Golden Trading Post, located north of Demeniss. Look for a rotating wooden door or board that looks slightly out of place. There will be two NPCs having a conversation nearby, which makes it easier to spot.

Crouch to get through the rotating door and you will find a treasure chest on the other side. Open it to collect the Scorchflame Plate Armor chest piece.
This is the last piece of the set if you follow the route in this guide. With all five collected, you will have the full Scorchflame Plate appearance equipped.
Recommended Farming Route
For efficiency, the best order to collect the full set in one trip is:
- Twilight Grotto — Gloves
- Secret Hills Hideout (beside Twilight Grotto) — Cloak
- Cascade Grotto (Denn River) — Boots
- Stonewell Farm — Helm
- Golden Trading Post — Chest
All locations are in or near the Demeniss region, so you can chain them together without a lot of backtracking.
Can You Get the Scorchflame Weapons Too?
Yes, but the weapons require more effort than the armor.
The matching weapons — the Drake Shield and the Spada Sword — are obtained by defeating the Flame Knight boss at the Flame Knight’s Castle on the western side of Demeniss. This is an optional boss tied to the Letter of Silence faction quest from House Azerian. You need to reach Chapter 7 of the main story and arrive in Demeniss before this quest becomes available.
The Flame Knight is a tough fight. He uses heavy physical strikes combined with fire-based area attacks. Bring plenty of healing items and consider equipping gear with Fire Resistance before you go in. Our ice resistance and frost protection guide is a good reference for understanding elemental resistance systems in the game.
