How to Unlock the Wings of Iron Quest in Crimson Desert
After you get Blackstar in Chapter 11, a new Faction Quest unlocks — Wings of Iron. You’ll find it under Journal > Faction Quests > Hernand > Witches.
Before this quest becomes available, you need to have done enough Witch NPC side quests. Characters like Elowen and Araciel carry Sanctum-related missions. Make sure those are progressed or the Wings of Iron quest won’t appear.
Once it does, the quest tells you to “decipher the records analyzed by the Witches.” That sounds complicated. It just means head to Kilnden Workshop in Hernand.

How to Craft Abyssal Fusion Dragon Armor in Crimson Desert
Go to the Kilnden Workshop in Hernand and find Grimnir’s Kuku Shop. That’s where everything gets crafted.
You need four materials total. Here’s the full list:
Small Kuku A.T.A.G. x1 — Crafted from a Blueprint from Marek at Zargan Tankworks, west Gorthak
Golden Star’s Component x1 — Auto-drop from beating the Golden Star boss in Chapter 11
Aeserion’s Scale x1 — Found at Serpent Shrine in Dewhaven, southwest Deleysia
Power Core – Ore of Resipiscence x1 — Random drop from Runewalkers and Stone Golem Abyss Creatures
One important warning before you start. The Kuku Pot gets consumed during the crafting process. Make sure the pot you use for this doesn’t have other Abyss items stored inside it. Keep a separate pot just for this craft. It’s a good habit to carry 3–5 Kuku Pots at all times in late game.
How to Get the Small Kuku A.T.A.G. in Crimson Desert
Head to Zargan Tankworks, west of Gorthak in Deleysia. Find the NPC Marek there and get the Small Kuku A.T.A.G. Blueprint. Reading it permanently teaches you the recipe.
Now go to Grimnir’s Kuku Shop in Hernand and craft it. You need:
- Kuku Pot x1
- Abyss Cell x1
- Cogwheel x5
- Small Battery x5
Where to farm Cogwheels and Small Batteries: These drop from mechanical enemies in Deleysia — golems, robot mosquitoes, and similar machines. They’re common drops so don’t stress about these.
Where to farm Abyss Cells: These drop from Abyss-corrupted creatures. Tricky ones — they disguise themselves as rocks, bushes, and shrubbery. The giveaway is a glowing Abyss orb on their bodies. How to Get the Golden Star’s Component in Crimson Desert
Nothing to farm here. Golden Star’s Component drops automatically when you defeat the Golden Star boss in Chapter 11’s Master of a Forgotten Land quest. You’ll already have it before Wings of Iron even unlocks. Just don’t throw it away.
How to Get Aeserion’s Scales in Crimson Desert
Travel to Deleysia and find the Serpent Shrine in Dewhaven — the southwest island. You’ll also find the Shackled God Faction Quest in this area.
Steps to collect the Scales:
- Use Axiom Force (L3) to pick up Aeserion’s Scales
- Press Triangle / Y to seal them inside your Kuku Pot
- Take them back to Grimnir at Kilnden Workshop
Remember — use a clean Kuku Pot that has nothing else stored in it. The pot itself becomes part of the crafting recipe later.

How to Get Power Core – Ore of Resipiscence in Crimson Desert
This one is a random drop so it takes a bit of patience.
Kill Runewalkers and Stone Golem Abyss Creatures in Pywel. These enemies look like rock golems or stone crabs — don’t confuse them with the camouflaged Abyss creatures that drop Abyss Cells. They’re different enemy types in different zones.
A reliable early spot: defeat Vordis, the Runewalker, in the Destroyed Barrier Stone of the Lake Faction Quest, located in Lake Kharonso, Scholastone. Full steps are in our Destroyed Barrier Stone of the Lake walkthrough.
Pro tip: Start farming this material early in Chapter 11, before you even start the Wings of Iron quest. That way you won’t have to backtrack later.
How to Complete the Abyssal Fusion in Crimson Desert
Once you have all four materials ready:
- Head to Grimnir’s Kuku Shop at Kilnden Workshop in Hernand
- Craft the Abyssal Fusion
- Open your Journal and track the Wings of Iron quest — it now points you to the Nest of Valor
- The Nest of Valor is a floating Abyss island above the desert region (Dry Valley). It’s the same place you fought Goyen back in Chapter 9, so you’ve been there before
- Fast travel to Nest of Valor and walk to the X marker
- A cutscene plays — the armor mechanism wraps around Blackstar in an anime-style transformation sequence, then Kliff jumps up and rides him
The Mecha Dragon Armor is now permanent on Blackstar.
What Does Abyssal Dragon Armor Do in Crimson Desert?
The Abyssal Dragon Armor — also called Mecha Dragon Armor — doesn’t unlock new abilities for Blackstar. No faster flying, no longer flight time, and no reduction to the brutal 50-minute real-time cooldown.
What it does is give Blackstar solid damage resistance. He can take a lot more hits before going down. That matters a lot in Chapter 11, especially when flying over areas packed with heavy air defenses. A tankier Blackstar means you stay in the air longer during liberation missions.
It’s worth doing before you push deeper into Chapter 11. Don’t skip it.
