TL;DR

  • The Blackwing set has 5 pieces: Mask, Chest, Gloves, Boots, and Cloak
  • Mask and Chest are guaranteed drops from defeating Crowcaller in Chapter 5
  • Cloak is inside a hidden shed in Pororin Village — requires the Unreachable Village quest first
  • Gloves are in a secret chest at the Sanctum of Penitence — fall through a cracked floor
  • Boots are at Halssius’s House of Healing — climb the outside ladder, use Force Palm to break the hidden floor
  • The full set gives Lightning Resistance across all 5 pieces — great for lightning-heavy fights
  • No set bonuses in Crimson Desert — each piece works independently but all are worth equipping

The Blackwing Leather Armor is one of the best-looking sets in Crimson Desert. Dark, sleek, and crow-themed, it fits Kliff perfectly for players who want that rogue-like silhouette. Beyond style, the full set gives solid defense, movement speed, critical rate, and Lightning Resistance on every piece — making it one of the strongest mid-game setups you can build around.

The catch is that the set is split across five very different locations. Two pieces drop from a boss. Three are hidden in chests that require knowing exactly where to look. This guide covers all five locations step by step.

Blackwing Armor Set Overview

The Blackwing set, also called the Crowcaller armor set, is a five-piece leather armor collection. Every single piece contributes to Lightning Resistance, which makes the full set especially useful against lightning-based enemies and environmental hazards. The set covers all four equipment slots plus a cloak.

Like all armor in Crimson Desert, these pieces do not provide a bonus for wearing the full set. Each piece is worth equipping and refining independently. That said, running the complete set still gives you one of the best combined stat packages available in the mid-game.

Here is a quick overview of all five pieces and where to get them:

Piece 1 & 2 – Blackwing Mask and Blackwing Leather Armor

Location: Crow’s Nest, Chapter 5 boss fight (Crowcaller)

These two pieces come together as guaranteed drops from defeating Crowcaller at the end of Chapter 5 during the main quest Black and White. Both are added to your inventory automatically the moment the fight ends. There is no RNG involved — you cannot miss them if you finish the chapter.

Crowcaller is a three-phase boss found at the Crow’s Nest in the Abyss. He wields dual curved blades at lethal speed and becomes increasingly aggressive as each phase begins. This is one of the most demanding fights in the early-to-mid game, so make sure you prepare properly before going in.

A fast travel point sits right at the Crow’s Nest, so if you die or need to restock, you can warp to the mainland, grab food and supplies, and return without redoing the puzzles that lead there.

Preparation tips for the Crowcaller fight:

  • Refine your armor and weapons to at least level 4 before the encounter
  • Invest in at least 4 Health upgrades and 4 Stamina upgrades in the Skill Tree
  • Slot Abyss Cores focused on health regen, Spirit regen, and damage reduction
  • Stock up on Palmar Pills and healing food before engaging

Blackwing Mask stats: DEF 4, Movement Speed Lv.1 Blackwing Leather Armor stats: DEF 12, Movement Speed Lv.1, Lightning Resistance Lv.1, Stamina Regen +2%, 3 Abyss Core Slots

The chest piece is a standout. DEF 12 is among the highest you can get at this stage, and having three Abyss Core Slots means you can customize it heavily with your preferred bonuses.

Piece 3 – Blackwing Leather Cloak

Location: Pororin Village, Grace Estate, south of Hernand

Prerequisite: Complete the Unreachable Village quest first

You cannot enter Pororin Village without finishing the Unreachable Village quest. If you try to walk in before completing it, you will be blocked. To trigger the quest, try to enter the village three times. On the third attempt, you will wake up elsewhere and find Arkin nearby. Talk to him to begin the quest chain that eventually grants you access.

Once inside Pororin, head to the farm area in the west side of the village. You are looking for a small wooden shed near a signpost. Go around to the right side of the shed and look for a back wall made of breakable planks. Attack the planks to smash through them. Inside the newly opened compartment is a treasure chest. Open it to get the Blackwing Leather Cloak.

The cloak continues the Lightning Resistance theme of the full set. If you are struggling to find Pororin, use our Unreachable Village quest guide to get access first.

Piece 4 – Blackwing Leather Gloves

Location: Sanctum of Penitence, Grace Estate, southeast of Hernand

The Sanctum of Penitence is located southeast of Hernand, just to the right of Pororin on the map. You can collect the gloves here without any quest prerequisite, so this is a piece you can grab during free exploration.

Enter the Sanctum from the southern entrance and head upstairs to the upper floors. Make your way into the open, roofless area near the top of the building. Look near the edge of this open section for shaking debris and a red notification indicator on the floor. That shaking patch is a cracked floor. Stand on it and the floor will give way, dropping you into a hidden room. Open the chest inside to collect the Blackwing Leather Gloves.

If you are visiting this area anyway for a nearby sanctum puzzle, you can grab these gloves during the same trip with minimal detour.

Piece 5 – Blackwing Leather Boots

Location: Halssius’s House of Healing, Hernand

The boots are the trickiest of the three world chest pieces. The House of Healing is a restricted zone, so do not enter through the front door — you will draw attention from guards inside. Instead, find the ladder on the outside of the building and use it to climb up to the roof.

From the roof, look to the right and jump across to the tall tower structure next to the main building. Once you are up on the tower, look down at the floor. Part of it has a different texture — a hidden floor panel. Crouch down and use Force Palm aimed at the ground to break through it. Drop down into the hidden room below. Inside you will find a chest with the Blackwing Leather Boots.

This is the most involved piece of the set but well worth it. The boots have one of the broadest stat coverages of any piece in the collection.

Blackwing Leather Boots stats: ATK 16, DEF 4, Critical Rate Lv.1, Movement Speed Lv.1, Lightning Resistance Lv.1, Stamina Regen +2%

Recommended Collection Order

You can collect the pieces in any order you like, but this sequence fits naturally with story progression:

1. Blackwing Leather Gloves (Sanctum of Penitence) — No quest requirement. Grab these as soon as you are exploring southeast Hernand.

2. Blackwing Leather Boots (House of Healing) — Also available in free exploration. Just take the outside ladder and avoid the guards.

3. Blackwing Leather Cloak (Pororin Village) — Complete the Unreachable Village side quest first, then swing by and break the shed wall.

4. Blackwing Mask and Blackwing Leather Armor (Crowcaller) — These are story-locked. By the time you finish Chapter 5, you may already be wearing the other three pieces. Beat Crowcaller and the set is complete.

Is the Blackwing Set Worth It?

Yes — especially in the early and mid game. The chest piece alone, with DEF 12 and three Abyss Core Slots, is one of the best armor pieces available before late game. The boots offer attack, defense, critical rate, and movement speed all at once, which is rare for a single piece. The full set naturally builds toward Lightning Resistance, making it a strong choice for any region or boss that uses lightning attacks.

The only downside is that the mask and chest are locked behind Chapter 5. But the three world chest pieces can be collected any time, so you can have most of the set ready long before the Crowcaller fight.
