TL;DR
- The Eastern Witch’s Fan is a hidden one-handed weapon found in a secret cave
- You need the Focused Force Palm skill before you can access it
- The cave is in the Serpent Marsh area, south of Demeniss City
- Unlock the Deminis region via its Bell Tower first or the map stays fogged
- The fan is all about wind, tornadoes, and crowd control — not raw damage
The Eastern Witch’s Fan is one of the most fun and unusual weapons in Crimson Desert. It doesn’t hit the hardest, but it lets you throw tornadoes, knock enemies off cliffs, and even clear stormy weather. Most players miss it entirely because it sits behind a hidden wall with no marker on the map.
This guide walks you through exactly how to get it — step by step.
What Is the Eastern Witch’s Fan?
The Eastern Witch’s Fan is a one-handed fan weapon. It sits in your secondary weapon slot. The lore describes it as a fan engraved with mysterious patterns, received from the Witch of the East — one that lets you command wind and lightning.
Its base attack stat runs between 10 and 33, and it has 11 refinement levels. You can improve it at a Blacksmith. It also comes with three Abyss Core slots for customization.
Don’t go in expecting a damage-dealer though. This weapon is built for crowd control — pushing enemies around, launching them into the air, and clearing groups with gusts and tornadoes.
Prerequisites Before You Go
Two things need to be sorted before the cave will even open for you.
1. Learn Focused Force Palm
This is the key requirement. Without it, the wall blocking the cave won’t budge.
The Focused Force Palm is learned during Chapter 4: The Price of Knowledge (Forbidden Knowledge). The quest takes you to the Scholar Stone Institute, which is southwest of Hernand.
Once you have the skill, use it by entering focused stance, then holding R3 on controller. It sends a force palm forward that can break hidden walls and destructible surfaces throughout the game.
If you’re not sure how far along you are, check your main story quests progress.
2. Unlock the Deminis Region
The Eastern Witch’s Fan cave is in the Deminis region. If the area is still covered in fog of war, navigating Serpent Marsh becomes guesswork.
Ring the Bell Tower tied to Deminis to clear the fog and reveal the map. If you want a full guide on all the bell tower locations, check out the all bell tower locations guide.
Eastern Witch’s Fan Location in Crimson Desert
Head to Serpent Marsh, located south of Demeniss City in the Deminis region.

There is a fast travel point nearby, so once the region is unlocked it’s a short trip. The terrain is full of rivers and high cliffs, so make sure you have enough stamina invested before going in. Running low on stamina while trying to glide down to the platform turns this into a frustrating fall.
Step-by-Step Directions
Step 1. Fast travel to the nearest point in Serpent Marsh, south of Demeniss City.
Step 2. Look for a cliff edge with a multi-colored flag nearby. That flag is your landmark. Scan the edges of the cliff deliberately — the flag is visible if you’re looking for it.
Step 3. Look down from the cliff edge. You’ll see a small platform jutting out from the mountain face. It’s easy to miss if you’re not actively searching below you.

Step 4. Use your glide or flight ability to drop down safely onto that platform. Don’t rush this — if your stamina is low, you’ll fall past it.
Step 5. On the platform, you’ll see a large rock wall in front of you. Be careful: standing too close to this wall for too long will cause it to petrify you, dealing heavy damage fast. Move quickly through the next step.
Step 6. Enter focused stance, then use Focused Force Palm on the wall. Wait for the golden ball to appear behind the wall and destroy it. The wall breaks open, revealing a hidden cave.
Step 7. Walk inside. You’ll see candles and a treasure chest at the end of the cave. Open it.
You now have the Eastern Witch’s Fan.

Eastern Witch’s Fan Moveset and Abilities
Here’s the full breakdown of what the fan can do:
| Move | Input | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Wind Gust (Light Attack) | Heavy Attack | Knocks back nearby enemies with a gust of wind |
| Tornado Combo | RB + RT (Xbox) / R1 + R2 (PS) | Launches enemies into the air and flings them around you |
| Multi-Fan Barrage | RB + B (Xbox) / R1 + Circle (PS) | Fires rapid fans that stagger enemies |
| Lightning Strike | See below | AoE lightning burst — not explained in any tooltip |
| Clear Skies | Skill Slot input | Clears rain, fog, and overcast weather — turns it sunny |
The Lightning Strike and Clear Skies abilities are genuinely hidden. The game provides no in-game tooltip or tutorial for either of them. Lightning Strike adds burst damage to what otherwise plays like a pure utility weapon. Clear Skies is a situational trick — it doesn’t work in every weather condition, but if it’s raining or foggy, you can make it sunny.

Is the Eastern Witch’s Fan Worth Getting?
It depends on how you like to play.
The fan absolutely shines in terrain with cliffs and ledges. Enemies knocked off elevated areas by the Gusts of Wind combo take fall damage on top of the push itself, which means the weapon punishes much harder in the right environment than its base stats ever suggest.
For straightforward high damage, look elsewhere. The DPS is not competitive with dedicated combat weapons, and the tornado combo deals minimal direct damage despite its dramatic visual effect. Strong attacks sometimes push enemies away rather than finish them — which can be annoying when you just need to kill something fast.
It also doesn’t pair with many of the game’s broader combat skills, so weaving it into a combo-heavy build takes some creativity. Check out the best early build guide if you want to plan around it from the start.
That said, for crowd control in open encounters, the fan genuinely fills a niche nothing else in the game covers. The tornado is satisfying. The hidden lightning ability gives it fight-ending potential in the right fight. And the weather-clearing trick is just fun to have.
