How to Get Platinum Bars in Crimson Desert

Learn how to get Platinum Bars in Crimson Desert. Find the Blueprint at Scholastone, farm Brimstone, Mercury, and Holy Water, then craft it at a Witch for 380 Silver each.

TL;DR

  • Get the Platinum Blueprint from the Scholastone Institute library (Chapter 4+)
  • Craft it at a Witch using: x1 Gold Bar, x4 Brimstone, x3 Mercury, x2 Holy Water
  • Sell each Platinum Bar for 380 Silver Coins or use it in Aeserion weapon recipes
  • Farm Brimstone near Deadfire Mountain, Mercury at Smoking Lands Hearth (needs Frost Lv 1)
  • Buy Holy Water from any Church Confessional for just 3 Silver each

Platinum Bars are one of the best money-makers in Crimson Desert. Each bar sells for 380 Silver Coins — more than almost any other common item in the game. They are also a key crafting material for some of the most powerful weapons in Pywel.

The process takes a bit of setup. You need a Blueprint, four different materials, and access to a Witch. But once you have the system going, Platinum farming is fast and very profitable.

This guide covers every step — from finding the Blueprint to knowing exactly where to farm each ingredient.

Head to the Scholastone Institute in the southern area of Hernand. This area is only accessible after Chapter 4.

Go through the large central door, walk past the reputation vendor on your left, head up the stairs, and loop back on yourself. The Platinum Blueprint is sitting on a shelf at the top.

Pick it up and examine it to learn the recipe. Once you have examined the blueprint in your inventory, the recipe is permanently learned. You can sell the physical paper to a merchant to free up inventory space.

You need the following materials per bar:

  • x1 Gold Bar
  • x4 Brimstone
  • x3 Mercury
  • x2 Holy Water

Here is a breakdown of where to get each one.

How to Get Gold Bars

Gold Bars are the base ingredient and the most involved to source. You have a few options.

Pickpocket Demeniss Nobles

Equip a Mask, which you can purchase from Back Alley Shops. Head to the Demeniss Wildlife Park, just south of the City of Demeniss. You will find Demeniss Nobles here, all wearing rabbit masks. Light and equip your lantern to reveal the loot they are carrying — some will have Gold Bars.

Run into a noble and hold Square on PlayStation or X on Xbox to pickpocket them. If the Gold Bar is not stolen, it means they have multiple items in their inventory. Keep trying others in the area.

Craft Gold Bars at a Witch

You can also craft Gold Bars directly at any Witch. You will need either 3 Brimstone, 3 Mercury, and 10 Silver Ore — or 3 Gold Ore and 1 Golden Apple.

Check out our guide on how to get Gold Bars in Crimson Desert for more detail on each method.

How to Get Brimstone

Clay Urn Necropolis — Main Farming Spot

Head to the Clay Urn Necropolis, located just west of the Hex Sanctuary near Dreadfire Mountain in the southwestern part of the Crimson Desert region. The area is full of crabs covered in Brimstone. Kill them to collect the material. You need 4 Brimstone per Platinum Bar, so clear the whole area.

After clearing the crabs, fast travel away and come back. They will respawn and you can farm again quickly.

Troll Traders at Scholar Stone

This is an underrated method. Trade Thin Hide with the troll scholars at Scholar Stone to build reputation. Once you hit 100 reputation, they reward you with random items — which can include Brimstone or Mercury. Since you need both for Platinum crafting, this is a great way to cover two ingredients in one spot. Thin Hide can be obtained from hunting animals or bought at any tannery.

How to Get Mercury

Mercury is the trickiest ingredient. You need a specific elemental skill before you can gather it.

What You Need First

You must have Frost Level 1 unlocked. Then purchase the Charged Shot and Elemental Charged Shot skills for your bow. Check our guide on how to use elemental attacks in Crimson Desert if you are unsure how to set this up.

Where to Farm Mercury

Head to the Smoking Lands Hearth in north Demeniss. You will find a pool of liquid Mercury here. Equip your Frost element using the Right D-Pad button. Aim your bow and hold L2 (or LT on Xbox) to fire an Ice Charged Shot into the pool. This solidifies the Mercury and lets you pick it up. You get 3 pieces per shot, which is exactly what you need for one bar.

A second Mercury pool can also be found near the Silver Wolf Mountains if you need an extra farming spot.

If your Ice Charged Shot is not firing, check two things. First, make sure you have actually equipped the Frost element in the D-Pad menu — just having the skill unlocked is not enough. Second, check your stamina bar. Charged elemental shots need a good amount of stamina to fire.

How to Get Holy Water

This is the easiest ingredient. Holy Water is sold at the Confessional inside any Church. Hernand Town and the City of Demeniss are the most convenient locations. It costs just 3 Silver Coins each. You need 2 per Platinum Bar, so stock up whenever you are passing through either town.

How to Craft Platinum Bars

Travel to the Witch Woods of Hernand, which unlocks in Chapter 5. Interact with the Witch and select “Craft Abyss Gear.” Press R2 on PlayStation or RT on Xbox to reach the “Special Items” tab. From there, combine all four ingredients to craft your Platinum Bar.

What Are Platinum Bars Used For?

Sell for Silver

Each Platinum Bar sells to vendors for 380 Silver Coins. That is more than almost any other common loot item in the game. If you are looking for the fastest way to build wealth, bulk Platinum crafting is one of the most efficient methods available.

Craft Aeserion Weapons

Platinum is also a core material for the full Aeserion weapon set — some of the strongest gear in Pywel. Every weapon in the set requires Platinum alongside Aeserion’s Scales and Bismuth Ore. Check our full guide on how to craft Aeserion weapons in Crimson Desert for everything you need.

Platinum Bar Farming Tips

Batch craft, never one at a time. Gather enough Mercury and Brimstone for 5 to 10 bars before making the trip to the Witch. The travel time adds up fast if you go for a single bar each run.

Fast travel to respawn nodes. After clearing the Brimstone crabs and the Mercury pool, fast travel to a completely different region and come back. This forces both spots to reset immediately.

Use the troll traders at Scholar Stone. Trading Thin Hide with them can drop both Brimstone and Mercury in one place. It saves you running between two different farming spots.

Bring a mount with good carry capacity. Platinum Bars are heavy. If you are farming in bulk, make sure your mount has enough storage to haul everything back to a vendor in one trip. Check our Crimson Desert horse guide if you need help finding a better mount.
