You are cruising through gear upgrades in Crimson Desert, feeling good about your equipment, and then the Blacksmith asks you for Scolecite Ore. If you have never seen it before, that is because it does not show up in the early game regions. You need to push further into Pywel to find it in any real quantity.

What Is Scolecite Ore?
Scolecite Ore is a crafting material used at the Blacksmith for gear refinement. It upgrades weapons, plate armor, and metal shields. In game, it is described as a white ore with a glint of silver — easy to overlook if you do not know what you are looking for.
It becomes essential once you start pushing your gear past the early refinement levels. Iron Ore and Copper Ore carry you through the beginning stages, but Scolecite kicks in once you are deep into the mid-to-late upgrade path. All Scolecite Ore Locations
1. Northern Crimson Desert Region — Main Farming Spot
This is the best place to farm Scolecite by a wide margin. Head to the northeastern part of Pywel, into the actual Crimson Desert region itself. Find the main road that cuts through the Trader’s Expanse heading toward Varnia.
Walk north along this road and keep your eyes on the mountain faces on both sides of the path. There are around 9 Scolecite deposits clustered along this route, each containing up to 6 Scolecite Ore. A single full pass can net you 50 or more pieces. It is a straight line, easy to follow, and extremely productive. 2. Tashkalp Town — Southern Cliffs
Additional Scolecite deposits can be found on the cliffs at the southern edge of Tashkalp town. These are on elevated rocky ledges, so you may need to climb or use Force Palm to reach some of them. It is not as dense as the Varnia road, but it makes for a solid secondary run if you are already in the area for quests.
3. South of Pailune Village — Mid-Game Option
If you have not made it to the Crimson Desert region yet but need Scolecite now, there is one deposit located just south of the main Pailune village. It is a single node, so it will not supply you for long. But it is useful for grabbing a small amount without making the long trek northeast.
4. Hernand Outskirts — Near Lioncrest Watchtower
There is a small patch of Scolecite on the rocky outcroppings just outside Hernand City, along the cliffs leading up toward the Lioncrest Watchtower. This is the only known deposit in the Hernand region. It is too small to farm reliably, but handy if you are in the area and need a quick piece early on. How to Mine Scolecite Ore
You have three options for breaking open ore deposits.
Pickaxe — The standard method. Buy one from the Provisioner’s Shop in Hernand Town. Equip it using F2 on keyboard or the D-Pad on a controller, then hold CTRL or the right bumper to aim at the node and hit it. Force Palm — If you do not want to switch tools, just walk up to a deposit and use Force Palm. It breaks the node instantly. It feels a bit ridiculous, but it works perfectly fine. Be careful using this on cliff-side deposits near Tashkalp since the knockback can launch you off the ledge.
Charged Shot — Use a bow with a Charged Shot to break deposits from a distance. Great for nodes stuck high on cliff faces that are hard to reach by foot.

Can You Buy Scolecite Ore?
Yes. Some street and mineral vendors in the Crimson Desert region sell Scolecite Ore. If you are short on time and have silver to spend, traveling to vendor stalls in the area is a viable option. That said, mining is far cheaper and gives you more control over your supply.

How Ore Respawning Works
Ore deposits in Crimson Desert respawn after roughly 7 in-game days. Once you mine a deposit, its icon stays marked on your map so you can find it again easily on the next run.
There are two ways to speed up respawns:
Natural Respawn — Sleep at an inn or campfire, or simply keep playing and come back after enough time has passed.
Save and Reload — Mine all the deposits in an area, save your game, then reload the save. All ore resets immediately. This is the fastest method. On the northern Varnia road, you can mine all 9 deposits, save, reload, and do the whole run again — 50+ Scolecite per pass.
What Is Scolecite Ore Used For?
Scolecite Ore is taken to the Blacksmith and used through the Refinement system to upgrade your gear. Specifically, it is accepted for:
- Weapons
- Plate armor
- Metal shields
It is not used for leather armor, soft armor, cloaks, or jewelry. Those require different materials. For jewelry upgrades, you need Azurite and other gems — see our Azurite guide for those locations.

Tips to Farm Scolecite Efficiently
Combine runs with Azurite. Azurite deposits also appear in the Crimson Desert region along the Varnia road. You can mine both ores in a single pass, saving time on two resource grinds at once.
Mark deposits on your map. After mining a node for the first time, it stays visible on your map. Plan your route before heading out so you never backtrack unnecessarily.
Upgrade your Pickaxe. As you progress, Blacksmiths offer Pickaxe upgrades that improve mining efficiency. It is a small but useful quality-of-life improvement for longer farming sessions.
Use a pet. A pet with gathering ability picks up dropped ore automatically, saving time across many nodes in a row.
