TL;DR

  • Epidote is locked behind story progression — you can’t get it in the early game
  • Mine it in Pailune, Delesyia, or the Crimson Desert region after unlocking them
  • Buy it daily from mineral shops, starting with Karin Quarry near Hernand
  • Farm it from Hexe Earthen Swordsmen north of Demeniss
  • Use it at the blacksmith to refine and upgrade your jewelry

Epidote is one of those materials you’ll hear about early in Crimson Desert, but you won’t be able to grab it right away. It’s locked behind story progression, which makes it feel rare — especially when your jewelry upgrades are stalling. The good news? Once you push past the opening hours, Epidote becomes pretty manageable to farm.

What Is Epidote Used For in Crimson Desert?

Epidote is a gem-type crafting material. You bring it to the blacksmith and use it under the Refinement option to upgrade your jewelry — rings, necklaces, and accessories. Higher refinement levels improve your stats and help you stay competitive as the game gets harder. If you’re focused on getting better equipment or upgrading your weapons and armor, you’ll want a steady supply of Epidote to keep your accessories up to speed as well.

When Can You Start Getting Epidote?

You won’t find Epidote in Hernand or the early starting areas. The ore is tied to regional progression. To access it, you need to unlock one of these three regions through the main story:

  • Pailune — usually the first place Epidote becomes available
  • Delesyia — also has reliable Epidote nodes
  • The Crimson Desert region — even more Epidote can be found here

Pailune tends to open up fairly early in the main quests, so you won’t be waiting forever. Check out our list of all main story quests and chapters to track your progress and know exactly when these regions unlock.

How To Get Epidote in Crimson Desert

There are three solid methods: mining, merchants, and enemy drops. Here’s how each one works.

1. Mining

Mining is your most reliable long-term source. Once you unlock Pailune, Epidote nodes appear on both the western and eastern sides of the region’s main city. These nodes regrow after you mine them and stay marked on your map after the first visit, making it easy to revisit them on farming runs.

Epidote also appears in Delesyia — there’s a notable deposit slightly west of Delesyia’s capital city, near a river. You can mine it with a standard pickaxe, which you can buy from the Provisioner’s Shop in Hernand. Alternatively, use the Force Palm skill to break ore deposits without needing a tool in hand. If an Epidote node is high up on a cliff, you can knock it loose with a Charged Shot from below.

2. Merchants (Mineral Shops)

Merchants are actually the fastest way to grab Epidote early. Mineral shops stock it almost daily, so you can swing by regularly and buy what you need without hunting nodes across the map.

The earliest mineral shop you can unlock is at Karin Quarry, located north of Hernand’s main city. To open it, you need to clear the area of enemies and then beat Marni’s Excavatron. Once that’s done, the mineral shop outside the quarry becomes available.

After that, each region has multiple mineral shops you can visit. Epidote is expensive though, so make sure you’re building up silver. For managing trade agreements with merchants, building trust goes a long way toward getting better deals.

3. Enemy Drops

The third method is farming specific enemies that drop Epidote. The main ones are the Hexe Earthen Swordsmen. These magical melee enemies are found north of the Demeniss region. They’re tough and attack in groups, but that’s actually a good thing — the more you fight at once, the higher your overall chances of getting Epidote to drop.

Look for them in open, empty areas rather than near villages. They tend to cluster in wider fields where there’s more room to move. Fighting them in groups makes the drops come in faster and gives you good XP at the same time.

Tips To Farm Epidote Efficiently

A few things that’ll save you time:

  • Visit mineral shops daily. Each shop restocks regularly, so a quick daily stop at Karin Quarry and any other shop you’ve unlocked adds up fast.
  • Mine every Epidote node you find. They respawn, and once marked on the map, they’re easy to revisit. Build a quick loop through Pailune’s east and west sides.
  • Fight Hexe Earthen Swordsmen in groups. Don’t cherry-pick solo targets. Let them cluster, then engage all of them together for better drop rates.
  • Keep your inventory clear. Running out of space means you miss drops. See our guide on how to increase inventory space to avoid this problem.
  • Use contribution points wisely. Unlocking more regional outposts through the contribution system can open up extra resource nodes, including more Epidote spots. Learn more in our contribution points guide.

What To Do With Epidote Once You Have It

Take your Epidote to the blacksmith and select the Refinement option. Apply it to rings, necklaces, or any accessory you’re upgrading. Higher refinement levels will ask for more Epidote and eventually Abyss Artifacts as well. That covers everything you need to know about how to get Epidote in Crimson Desert. Start with the Karin Quarry merchant, mine Pailune as soon as it unlocks, and farm Hexe Earthen Swordsmen when you’re in the Demeniss region. Keep all three methods running together and you’ll have all the Epidote you need to keep your jewelry fully upgraded.
