TL;DR

- Found inside a secret chest beneath the bridge just east of the Gate of Peace
- Fast travel to the Denn River Abyss Nexus in Demeniss, then head southeast
- Cross through the Gate of Peace and look underneath the bridge on the Gorthak side
- Descend below the bridge, find the hidden entrance, and loot the chest
- Stats: +5 Attack and +4 Stamina regeneration every second for your horse
The Steelheart Horse Shoes are one of those items almost no one finds naturally. There’s no quest directing you there, no marker on the map, and the chest is tucked inside a hidden room underneath a bridge that most players cross and forget about. If you ride through the Gate of Peace and keep going, you’ll miss it completely. Here’s exactly how to find it.
What Are the Steelheart Horse Shoes?
The Steelheart Horse Shoes are a Tier 4 horse accessory in Crimson Desert. They slot into your mount’s horseshoe equipment slot and provide a meaningful upgrade over anything you’d find or buy earlier in the game.
Here’s what they give your horse:
- +5 Attack
- +4 Stamina regeneration every second
The attack boost is handy for horse combat challenges, but the real value is the Stamina regeneration. It kicks in even while sprinting, which means your horse recovers stamina constantly during long rides. In a game where you spend a lot of time crossing large regions on horseback, this effectively removes the frustration of your mount slowing down mid-journey. You can just ride, flat out, without managing sprint windows.
When paired with a legendary mount, the effect becomes even stronger. Check our guides on how to get the Silver Fang legendary mount and how to get the White Bear legendary mount if you want to combine this gear with the best mounts in the game.
One important warning before we get to the location: if you sell a horse that’s wearing the Steelheart Horse Shoes, the horseshoes go with it and you can’t get them back. Always unequip them before selling any mount. This applies to all horse gear — see our horse guide for more on managing your mounts.
Where Are the Steelheart Horse Shoes?

The Steelheart Horse Shoes are located underneath the bridge just east of the Gate of Peace, in the Gorthak region. Gorthak sits southeast of Demeniss. The bridge connects the two regions, and the chest is hidden in a concealed room directly below the bridge structure on the Gorthak side.
The Gate of Peace itself is a large castle-like fortification — easy to spot from a distance. When you cross through it heading east, you enter Gorthak and come out onto a bridge. That bridge, and the hidden room beneath it, is where you’re headed.
Step-by-Step: How to Get the Steelheart Horse Shoes
Step 1 – Fast Travel to the Denn River Abyss Nexus
The closest fast travel point is the Denn River Abyss Nexus in Demeniss. Use that to cut down travel time. If you haven’t unlocked it yet, ride from Hernand north into Demeniss and find it along the way. For help finding fast travel points, see our fast travel guide.

Step 2 – Ride Southeast Toward the Gate of Peace
From the Abyss Nexus, head southeast. The Gate of Peace is a large fortified structure and is visible from a distance — you won’t miss it. Ride straight toward it.
Step 3 – Cross Through the Gate of Peace
Pass through the gate to the other side. As you emerge into Gorthak, you’ll find yourself on a bridge. You’ll also notice musket-wielding soldiers fighting off swarms of flying clockwork robots in the area. This confirms you’re in the right spot.
Step 4 – Dismount and Descend Below the Bridge
Get off your horse. The entrance to the hidden room is not visible from the top of the bridge — you need to drop down underneath the structure. Look for a way to descend from the bridge toward the underside. The false wall entrance to the concealed chamber is down there.

Step 5 – Find and Enter the Hidden Room
Once below, search the underside of the bridge for the hidden doorway or opening that leads into the secret chamber. The entrance isn’t clearly marked, so take a moment to check the walls and surfaces around you. Once inside, climb upward within the hidden area and then drop down into the interior section of the room.
Step 6 – Loot the Chest
The chest is waiting inside. Make sure your inventory has space, then open it to receive the Steelheart Horse Shoes. They go straight into your inventory.
How to Equip the Steelheart Horse Shoes
Once you have them in your inventory, equipping them takes just a few steps:
- Summon your horse and mount it
- Open your inventory
- Tab over to your horse’s name in the top left of the inventory screen
- Find the horseshoe slot in the horse equipment panel
- Select the Steelheart Horse Shoes and equip them
The Stamina regeneration effect starts immediately. You’ll notice the difference on your next long ride — your sprint meter stays topped up instead of draining out.
Note that the Steelheart Horse Shoes can only be equipped to horses. Other mount types cannot use this item.
Tips and Things to Watch Out For
Don’t skip the area just because it looks busy. The Gate of Peace during story progression is full of combat activity. You don’t need to fight everything. The chest is in a hidden area and has nothing to do with the surrounding enemies.
Check your horse’s current gear before equipping. If your horse already has horseshoes equipped, you’ll need to swap them out. Lower-tier horseshoes like the Steel Horseshoes (which give +3 Attack and +3 Stamina per second) are a direct downgrade compared to the Steelheart version.
Don’t sell your horse while it’s wearing these. As mentioned, gear goes with the horse when it sells. This catches a lot of players off guard. For more on the whole horse selling process, see our guide on how to sell animals in Crimson Desert.
Pair this with good horse armor. The horseshoes handle stamina. For protection, look into barding options like the Demenissian or Delesyian Barding sets to round out your mount’s gear slots.

Is It Worth Getting Early?
Yes, especially if you’re doing a lot of exploration. Gorthak becomes accessible during the later chapters of the main story, so by the time you reach the Gate of Peace naturally, your mount will already have seen significant use. Getting the Steelheart Horse Shoes at that point immediately changes how comfortable mounted travel feels for the rest of the game.
