Prox’s Request looks simple on paper. A goblin merchant wants you to deliver a package of counterfeit goods to a guild investigator. Two locations, no combat required, done.
But this quest trips up more players than you would expect. The Calligraphic Paintings you need to deliver are treated as a regular trade item in your inventory. That means you can accidentally sell them, donate them to the camp, or lose track of them entirely. Once that happens, the quest stalls and many players assume it is broken.
It is not broken. You just need to know what to do next.

How to Unlock Prox’s Request
Prox’s Request becomes available after you finish all of the Chapter 4 main quests. Once Chapter 4 is complete, a fresh batch of requests appears on the notice board in Hernand Town. Prox’s poster is among them.
Pick up the poster and read it to activate the quest. The poster reads: “Looking for a strong, trustworthy person. There’s an item that needs to be delivered safely. The distance isn’t far, but you never know what’s going to happen on the road without some trustworthy strength.”
This is a Hernand Commissions Faction Quest and it becomes available specifically after completing Delkin’s Request. If you have not done Delkin’s Request yet, that one comes first.
Step 1: Find Prox at the Goldleaf Trading Post (Northeast of Hernand)
Head to the Goldleaf Trading Post northeast of Hernand City, located at Serkis Estate. On the map, look east of the letter “D” in “Hernand.” There is an Abyss Nexus fast travel point nearby that you can use to get there quickly if you have it unlocked.
When you arrive, look for Prox, a goblin merchant examining some crates. Talk to him to hear his request.
Prox explains that counterfeit goods have been showing up in guild shipments and the guild headquarters has launched an investigation. He came across one of the fake items himself and wants to send it to the investigator, along with a list of the people he has traded with. He asks you to make the delivery on his behalf.
After the conversation, Prox hands you the Calligraphic Paintings (the counterfeit item) and a trade list. A new map marker appears pointing to the delivery location.
Important: Do not open a shop or sell anything after this conversation. The Calligraphic Paintings are not flagged as a key item. They sit in your regular inventory like any trade good, which means they can be sold, donated to the camp, or dropped by accident. Deliver them first before doing anything else.
Step 2: Deliver to the Investigator at the Southern Goldleaf Trading Post
Travel to the Goldleaf Trading Post south of Hernand City, west of Bloomwood Ranch. This is a different trading post from where you met Prox. The investigator is located on the left side of the post, inspecting supply boxes.
Look for a goblin dressed in green robes standing near a set of carts and trade goods. The game does not label him with a quest marker over his head that stands out clearly, so look carefully around the crate area.
Approach him and press the interact button. Use the Hand Over option (Square on PS5, X on Xbox) to deliver the Calligraphic Paintings and the trade list. Wait for the dialogue to finish.
That completes Prox’s Request.
Quest Rewards
Completing Prox’s Request gives you:
- Inventory Expansion — 3 slots (via a Medium Bag)
- 1 Cloth Piece
- +50 Trust with Prox
- +50 Hernandian Contribution EXP

What to Do If You Sold the Calligraphic Paintings (Bug Fix)
This is the most common issue players run into. If you try to deliver the paintings and the investigator will not accept them, or nothing triggers when you speak to him, check your inventory first. You may have accidentally sold or donated the paintings without realising.
Here are three ways to get the Calligraphic Paintings again:
Option 1 — Glenbright Manor (Most Reliable) Head to Glenbright Manor and go upstairs to the primary bedroom. Check the cabinets near the stairs. You can find a Calligraphic Painting inside. This is the most consistent location to grab one. See our Glenbright Manor Basement guide for reference on the manor layout.
Option 2 — Wooden Shack near Fort Perwin Travel to the area just southwest of Fort Perwin in southern Hernand. Look for a wooden shack filled with crates. Smash the boxes — NPCs will not react. There is a chance a Calligraphic Painting drops from the crates. If nothing drops, fast travel to the nearby Ancient Ruins Abyss Nexus and return to reset the loot. Repeat until one drops. The drop rate is not guaranteed so this can take a couple of attempts.
Option 3 — Trade Wagons near the Quarry South of Fort Perwin Bandits sometimes attack trade wagons in this area. Loot the wagons or intercept the bandits to grab the Unpackaged Goods, which often include Calligraphic Paintings. This is faster than crate farming if the timing works out.
Option 4 — Craft at the Inksworth Bindery If none of the above work quickly, you can craft Calligraphic Paintings at the Inksworth Bindery using camp comrades. You need a comrade with the art skill to do this. It is a longer route but fully reliable.
If the investigator NPC seems to be missing: Wait a moment and look carefully around the crate area on the left side of the post. He can be hard to spot. If he genuinely does not appear after waiting and reloading, check your camp storage. Some players have found their Calligraphic Paintings got moved into camp provisions automatically. If they are stuck in provisions and you cannot retrieve them, use one of the options above to get a fresh copy.
Tips to Avoid Problems
Complete this quest immediately after receiving it from Prox. Do not visit a shop or sell items before delivering. The paintings look like normal trade goods and it is easy to bulk-sell them accidentally.
