Crimson Desert Pierce’s Request Quest Guide

Complete Pierce's Request in Crimson Desert. Where to find Pierce, how to reach the Hernand gambling den, how to play Duo, spot cheaters, and what rewards you get.

TL;DR

  • Pierce’s Request is a Greymane Commissions faction quest under Tales of the Greymanes, unlocked after completing Strongbox with Wheels.
  • Find Pierce at the Greymanes Camp in Howling Hill, in the tent next door — talk to him and select Listen to Request.
  • Go to Hernand Town, find the gambling den on the second floor of the tavern, and play at least one game of Duo.
  • You do not need to win — just participating completes the objective. You do lose 15 Silver as the buy-in regardless.
  • Return to Pierce at Howling Hill and report back to finish the quest.
  • Rewards: Medium Bag x1, Trust +50, Greymane Contribution EXP +50.
  • If Pierce is missing from camp, he is on a dispatch mission — go to wherever you sent him and talk to him there.

Pierce’s Request is one of the quickest and most painless faction quests in Crimson Desert. Your Greymane comrade Pierce wants intel on the gambling scene in Hernand before he risks his own Silver at the table. He sends you in first as a scout. All you need to do is sit down, play one hand of Duo, and come back with a report.

The quest itself takes about five minutes once you know where to go. What slows people down is not knowing where the gambling den is, how Duo works, or why Pierce has vanished from camp. This guide covers all of it.

How to Unlock Pierce’s Request

Pierce’s Request unlocks after you complete the Strongbox with Wheels faction quest. Once that is done, head to the Greymanes Camp in Howling Hill and Pierce will be available with his request.

Pierce is one of your Greymane comrades stationed at Howling Hill. He can be found inside the tent next door to the main camp area, standing by the wooden counter. Walk up to him and select the Listen to Request prompt when the interaction menu appears.

He will explain that he wants to visit the gambling den in Hernand but does not want to go in blind. He asks you to go ahead, sit at the table, and assess the skill level of the other players — essentially sizing up the competition for him before he puts real money on the line.

Step 1 – Find the Hernand Gambling Den

The gambling den is in the City of Hernand, on the second floor of the tavern. It is not immediately obvious from street level — you need to go inside the building and head upstairs.

Once you reach the second floor, look for a door with a thug standing guard next to it. That is the entrance to the gambling room. Go through the door, enter the room, and you will find the Duo table inside.

If you need Silver for the buy-in, you need at least 15 to sit down. If you are short, check our guides on how to make money fast and how to farm Silver with the five card game.

Step 2 – Play a Game of Duo

Interact with an empty stool at the Duo table to sit down and join the game. The buy-in costs 15 Silver, which is deducted automatically when you take a seat.

You do not need to win. Playing one complete game — win or lose — is enough to satisfy the quest objective and complete the assessment. That said, winning is always better since the 15 Silver entry fee comes out of your pocket regardless.

How Duo Works

Duo is based on a traditional Korean card game called Seotda. Here is the short version of how it works so you are not going in completely blind.

Each player is dealt five numbered sticks. The game automatically selects three of those sticks that add up to exactly 10, 20, or 30. Those three sticks are set aside. Your remaining two sticks form your final hand — called your Duo.

Points are calculated by adding your two remaining sticks together. If the sum goes over 10, you subtract 10 from the result. So if you draw a 6 and a 9, your hand is worth 5 points (15 minus 10). The player with the highest-ranking hand at the table wins the pot.

One of each opponent’s two cards is always visible to you. Use that information to read their potential hand and decide whether to Raise, Check, or Fold.

Hand rankings from highest to lowest (named hands beat point hands):

  • Ten Pair (two 10s)
  • Three Eight (three and eight)
  • Four Three (four and three)
  • One Two (ace and two)
  • Pairs (matching cards — Ten Pair is highest, One Pair is lowest)
  • Nine Points
  • Eight Points
  • Down to Zero Points (weakest hand, often a bust)

Named hands like Ten Pair, Three Eight, and Four Three always beat a regular point hand regardless of points. Pairs always beat non-pair hands of the same point value.

Betting options during a round:

  • Raise — increase the current bet
  • Half — bet half the current pot
  • All In — go all-in with everything in front of you
  • Check — match the current bet without raising
  • Fold — give up the round and lose whatever you have put in

Tips for Winning

If you want to actually win rather than just participate, a few things help:

Save before sitting down. Create a manual save outside the gambling den before entering. If you lose badly, reload and try again. The AI opponents tend to call all-in bets aggressively in early rounds even with weak hands — use this. If you have a decent hand (Five Points or higher), go all-in immediately in the first round. You will often catch multiple opponents with bad hands calling your bet.

Watch one visible opponent card. Since you can see one of each opponent’s cards, estimate whether their hand is likely strong or weak. An opponent showing a 10 could be going for a Ten Pair. An opponent showing a 1 is more likely weak. Use this alongside their betting behavior to decide when to stay in.

Fold weak hands early. A hand worth 0, 1, or 2 points with no pair potential is almost certainly a loss. Folding preserves your Silver for better hands without costing you more than your initial buy-in.

Step 3 – Spot Cheaters (Optional but Worth Knowing)

While you are at the table, you may notice other players cheating. Catching a cheater gets them removed from the game and their Silver distributed to the remaining players. This can be a significant windfall if you are the only player left.

Here is how to tell if someone is cheating during the deal:

Legitimate dealer: Lifts their elbow above the rim of the cup and grabs the sticks from above. Thumbs point upward.

Cheating dealer: Tucks their elbow below the rim of the cup and grabs the sticks with the back of their hand facing the table. Thumbs point downward or inward.

If you see the cheating grab animation, you can hold the Accuse button to call them out. If you are correct, the table enforcer removes the cheater and their Silver is split among the remaining players. If you guess wrong, you get kicked from the table and banned for roughly one in-game day (about two real-time hours — resting 12 hours at a bonfire or bed cuts the ban in half).

NPCs who win repeatedly with unusually strong hands while raising aggressively are also suspect. If someone keeps pulling perfect hands and betting heavily, accuse them.

The first time you witness cheating during a deal, you automatically learn the Cheat ability yourself. After watching cheating in progress three separate times, Kliff can use it when he is the dealer. Hold the Hide Hand prompt during your own deal to pause and manually select one number and color to add to your hand. This is particularly powerful in higher-stakes games.

Step 4 – Return to Pierce and Report Back

Once you have played at least one complete game of Duo — win or lose — the assessment objective completes.

Fast travel back to the Howling Hill Camp and find Pierce in the same spot as before — the tent next door, by the wooden counter. Interact with him and select the option to inform him about the gambling situation and the skill level of the players at Hernand’s den.

A short dialogue sequence plays. Pierce takes in the information and the quest completes.

Pierce’s Request Rewards

Completing Pierce’s Request gives you:

  • Medium Bag x1 — adds 3 extra inventory slots. This is the most immediately useful reward and the main reason to do this quest early.
  • Trust +50 — increases your relationship with the Greymanes faction
  • Greymane Contribution EXP +50 — contributes to your Greymane standing

The Medium Bag is the reward worth prioritising. Inventory space in Crimson Desert is genuinely limited in the early game, and every bag you collect from commission quests adds up fast. Running through all seven Greymane Commissions — Carl’s, Ronnie’s, Ross’s, Tranan’s, Brice’s, Ronald’s, and Pierce’s Requests — gives you seven Medium Bags total, adding 21 inventory slots just from faction quests.

Pierce Is Missing – What to Do

One of the most common issues players report with this quest is returning to the camp only to find Pierce is not there.

Pierce is missing because you sent him on a dispatch mission. When a comrade is out on dispatch, they leave the camp entirely and can only be found at the location where they are assigned.

To talk to Pierce while he is on a mission, go to wherever you sent him. If you dispatched him to a manor for security duty, he will be at that manor guarding a door. You can still trigger the quest completion dialogue by talking to him there — you do not need to wait for him to return to camp.

If you are not sure where you sent him, check your dispatch mission log and look for Pierce’s assignment to find his current location.

Common Questions

Do I need to win the Duo game? No. Participating in one complete game satisfies the quest objective regardless of the outcome. That said, you lose the 15 Silver buy-in either way, so winning is better for your wallet.

What if I don’t have 15 Silver? Complete a few quests, sell loot from enemies, or check our guide on how to make money fast to get your Silver up before heading to the gambling den.

Can I do this quest without finishing Strongbox with Wheels first? No. Pierce’s Request is locked behind Strongbox with Wheels. Pierce will not offer the request until that quest is completed.

I played Duo but the quest won’t progress. Make sure you are sitting at the correct Duo table on the second floor of the Hernand tavern — not a different gambling location. The quest specifically tracks the Hernand den. Also confirm you completed a full round, not just sat down. The game needs to reach a conclusion (win, lose, or fold after seeing cards) for the assessment to register.

How long does the gambling ban last if I wrongly accuse someone? About one in-game day, which is roughly two real-time hours. You can shorten it to about one hour by resting 12 hours at a bed or bonfire.
