Who Is Dehya in Genshin Impact?
Dehya is a 5-star Pyro Claymore character introduced in Version 3.5. She is a member of the Eremites, a mercenary group that roams the deserts of Sumeru. Known as the Flame-Mane, Dehya is fiercely loyal and renowned among her fellow mercenaries for her raw power and courage.
In combat, Dehya is a unique character with a defensive and offensive hybrid kit. Her Elemental Skill places a Fiery Sanctum field on the ground that does two things at once: it transfers a portion of damage your active character takes onto Dehya, and it also fires coordinated Pyro attacks when enemies inside the field take damage. This makes her the closest thing to a shield character and off-field Pyro DPS in one.
Her Elemental Burst puts her into the Blazing Lioness state, where she launches rapid fist strikes dealing Pyro DMG. This is her main on-field damage window, but it has a short duration and her multipliers are lower than dedicated DPS characters, which is why most players use her in a support or Burgeon trigger role.
Dehya was added to the standard banner after her limited run, meaning players can get her Constellations over time through standard pulls, losing pity on limited banners, or Masterless Starglitter exchanges.
Dehya Pros and Cons
Pros:
- Unique damage mitigation mechanic — her Fiery Sanctum absorbs hits meant for your active character.
- Off-field Pyro application through her Fiery Sanctum’s coordinated attacks.
- Gives party members increased interruption resistance while they stand inside her field.
- Can work as a Burgeon trigger with a full Elemental Mastery build.
- Her Constellations are accessible since she is on the standard banner.
- Strong in teams with HP-draining characters like Furina, since she can absorb redirected damage.
Cons:
- Personal damage at C0 is underwhelming compared to other 5-star Pyro characters.
- Her Pyro application is slow, making it hard to consistently trigger fast reactions.
- Her Elemental Burst is energy-hungry and has a short duration.
- Still needs a healer since her mitigation does not fully negate incoming damage.
- Not the strongest pick compared to other off-field Pyro options like Xiangling.
Dehya Abilities and Skills
Normal Attack – Sandstorm Assault
Dehya performs four consecutive Claymore swings. Her Charged Attack consumes Stamina and delivers continuous slashes followed by a powerful final strike. Her Plunge Attack drops from the air and deals AoE DMG on landing. Her Normal Attacks are rarely a priority unless she is being used as an on-field DPS at C6.
Elemental Skill – Molten Inferno
This is Dehya’s most important ability and the core of her kit. It has two different modes depending on the situation:
- Indomitable Flame (No field active): Dehya deals AoE Pyro DMG and creates a Fiery Sanctum field at her location.
- Ranging Flame (Field already active): Dehya leaps forward, deals AoE Pyro DMG, and moves the Fiery Sanctum field to her new position. The new field inherits the remaining duration from the previous one.
Only one Fiery Sanctum field can exist at a time. While the field is active:
- When enemies inside the field take damage, Dehya launches a coordinated Pyro attack based on her ATK and Max HP. This can trigger once every 2.5 seconds.
- Your active character inside the field gains increased interruption resistance.
- A portion of damage your active character takes is transferred to Dehya. The total damage the field can absorb is capped at 200% of Dehya’s Max HP.
The damage transfer mechanic is what sets Dehya apart. It protects fragile DPS characters like Hu Tao or Ganyu from burst damage while they stay on the field.
Elemental Burst – Leonine Bite
Dehya enters the Blazing Lioness state upon using her Burst. During this state:
- She continuously unleashes Flame-Mane’s Fist strikes, each dealing Pyro DMG.
- Her Normal Attack and Elemental Skill are replaced by Roaring Barrage — pressing Normal Attack within 0.4 seconds after each Flame-Mane’s Fist increases the speed of the next strike.
- She cannot use regular Normal Attacks, Charged Attacks, or her standard Elemental Skill during this window.
- If a Fiery Sanctum field exists when she uses her Burst, she retrieves it and recreates it after Blazing Lioness ends, carrying over the remaining duration.
Blazing Lioness has a short duration, and Dehya’s multipliers inside it are lower than other Pyro DPS characters, which is a common criticism of her kit. However, C6 significantly improves her CRIT stats during this state.
Passive Talents
- Unstinting Ferocity (1st Ascension Passive): When Dehya first creates a Fiery Sanctum, she gains interruption resistance. When the field is renewed — either by recasting her Skill or after her Burst ends — the accumulated damage mitigation from Redmane’s Blood temporarily reduces the damage she takes. This makes her tankier during the field transitions.
- Stalwart and True (4th Ascension Passive): When Dehya’s HP falls below 40%, she restores 20% of her own Max HP. This can only trigger once every 20 seconds. It helps her survive the redirected damage from her Fiery Sanctum without needing constant external healing.
- The Sunlit Way (Utility Passive): Increases movement speed of all party members by 10% during daytime hours (6:00 to 18:00). A small but handy exploration bonus.
Dehya Constellations
Dehya’s Constellations range from quality-of-life improvements to significant damage upgrades at C6. Since she is on the standard banner, getting her Constellations is more achievable than with limited characters.
- C1 – The Flame Incandescent: Increases Dehya’s Max HP by 20%. Both Molten Inferno’s DMG and Leonine Bite’s DMG increase based on her Max HP. This is a great upgrade that improves both her support role (more absorption capacity) and her damage output simultaneously.
- C2 – The Sand-Blades Glittering: Extends the duration of the recreated Fiery Sanctum field (after Burst ends) by 6 seconds. This significantly reduces the downtime of her field and keeps her protection and off-field damage active longer. A very strong quality-of-life improvement.
- C3 – A Rage Swift as Fire: Increases Leonine Bite talent level by 3, up to Level 15. Directly boosts her Burst damage.
- C4 – An Oath Abiding: When Flame-Mane’s Fist and Incineration Drive from Leonine Bite hit opponents, they restore 1.5 Energy for Dehya and heal the active character for 1.5% of Dehya’s Max HP. This helps with her Energy needs and provides light sustain during her Burst.
- C5 – The Life of the City: Increases Molten Inferno talent level by 3, up to Level 15. Boosts her Elemental Skill damage.
- C6 – The Burning Claws Cleaving: The CRIT Rate of Leonine Bite’s Flame-Mane’s Fist increases by 10% and CRIT DMG increases by 20%. After she punches, either CRIT Rate or CRIT DMG will increase further based on whether the hit CRIT’d or not. This is a very strong constellation that transforms her Burst into a legitimate damage window and makes C6 Dehya a functional on-field Pyro DPS.
Priority: C1 and C2 are the most impactful early Constellations. C6 is where her damage ceiling jumps significantly.
Dehya Best Weapons
Dehya’s damage scales with both ATK and Max HP. Her best weapons provide CRIT Rate, ATK, or HP to maximize one or both of these stats.
Best Weapon – Beacon of the Reed Sea (Signature)
Dehya’s signature Claymore is her best-in-slot for the DPS role. It has a CRIT Rate substat, which is exactly what she needs to make her Burst more reliable. Its passive increases ATK when she uses her Skill and when she is not shielded, and also increases Max HP. Every part of this weapon’s kit lines up with how Dehya actually plays.
Best F2P Weapon – Mailed Flower
This is the best F2P option for a Burgeon or reaction-focused Dehya. It provides Elemental Mastery as a substat and boosts ATK and EM after using Elemental Skill or Burst. If you are running Dehya as a Burgeon trigger, this weapon directly increases your Burgeon damage. It has been available through limited-time events.
Other Good Options
- Wolf’s Gravestone: A strong 5-star Claymore with high ATK% and a passive that buffs team ATK. Works well for a main DPS Dehya who wants to boost her own and her teammates’ damage.
- Serpent Spine: A battle pass weapon with CRIT Rate as its substat. Builds CRIT stacks over time on the field. Works well if Dehya spends time on-field during her Burst.
- Akuoumaru: Increases Elemental Burst DMG based on team Energy. Has ATK% as a substat. A decent option if you are focusing on making her Burst stronger.
- Favonius Greatsword: Generates Energy for the team on CRIT hits. Useful if the team needs Energy Recharge support and Dehya’s Burst uptime is a priority.
- Sacrificial Greatsword: Resets her Elemental Skill on a CRIT hit. Gives her an extra Ranging Flame use per rotation for more off-field Pyro application.
Dehya Best Artifacts
Dehya’s best artifact set depends heavily on her role in the team. She has three distinct builds — support, main DPS, and Burgeon trigger — each with different priorities.
Best DPS Build – Emblem of Severed Fate (4-Piece)
The 2-piece gives 20% Energy Recharge to help charge her costly Burst. The 4-piece converts Energy Recharge into Burst DMG, capping at 75% bonus. Since Dehya wants to keep her Burst up consistently, this set solves both her Energy needs and rewards her for stacking ER with bonus damage. Farm this in the Momiji-Dyed Court domain.
Best Support Build – Tenacity of the Millelith (4-Piece)
When Dehya’s Fiery Sanctum coordinated attacks hit enemies, the 4-piece bonus from Tenacity triggers, giving all party members 20% ATK and 30% Shield Strength for 3 seconds. Since the coordinated attack fires every 2.5 seconds, this buff has near-100% uptime. For pure support Dehya, focus on HP% to maximize her Fiery Sanctum’s damage absorption cap.
Best Burgeon Build – Full Elemental Mastery
If you are using Dehya to trigger Burgeon in a Dendro team, build her with a full EM setup. Use the Gilded Dreams or Flower of Paradise Lost (4-piece) sets, stacking as much EM as possible. Her coordinated attacks trigger Burgeon seeds, and high EM directly increases Burgeon’s damage. This is one of her strongest and most unique use cases.
Best On-Field DPS (C6) – Marechaussee Hunter (4-Piece)
At C6, when Dehya is on the field during her Burst, her Fiery Sanctum absorbs damage and redirects it to herself, constantly fluctuating her HP. Marechaussee Hunter gives CRIT Rate stacks when HP changes, and Dehya’s own kit generates those stacks naturally through damage absorption and her self-healing passive. This makes it a strong choice for an on-field C6 DPS build.
Artifact Main Stats to Target
Support / Tank Build:
- Sands: HP%
- Goblet: HP%
- Circlet: HP%
DPS / Burst Build:
- Sands: ATK% or Energy Recharge
- Goblet: Pyro DMG Bonus
- Circlet: CRIT Rate or CRIT DMG
Burgeon Build:
- Sands: Elemental Mastery
- Goblet: Elemental Mastery
- Circlet: Elemental Mastery
Dehya Ascension Materials
Here is everything needed to ascend Dehya from Level 1 to Level 90:
- Pyro Gems: Agnidus Agate (Sliver, Fragment, Chunk, Gemstone) — farmed from Pyro Regisvine, Pyro Hypostasis, or Primo Geovishap.
- Boss Material: Pseudu-Stamens — dropped by the Setekh Wenut boss in the Desert of Hadramaveth in Sumeru.
- Local Specialty: Sand Grease Pupa — found on the walls and terrain in Sumeru’s desert region.
- Common Enemy Drop: Faded Red Satin, Trimmed Red Silk, and Rich Red Brocade — dropped by Eremite enemies in Sumeru.
Talent Materials
To level up Dehya’s talents, you need:
- Talent Books: Ingenuity series (Teachings, Guide, Philosophies of Ingenuity) — from the Steeple of Ignorance domain on Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday.
- Weekly Boss Material: Puppet Strings — dropped by the Scaramouche (Balladeer) weekly boss in Sumeru.
- Common Material: Eremite Silk series — from Eremite enemies.
- Crown of Insight: One per talent to reach Level 10.
Dehya Best Team Compositions
Dehya’s three builds — support, DPS, and Burgeon — each lead to different team setups. Here are the most effective ones.
Hu Tao Support Team
This is one of Dehya’s best use cases. Hu Tao is a fragile DPS who benefits enormously from Dehya’s Fiery Sanctum damage absorption. The field absorbs hits that would knock Hu Tao out of her charge attacks and gives her interruption resistance. Dehya’s off-field Pyro also contributes to reactions.
Ganyu Melt Team
Dehya’s Fiery Sanctum provides the Pyro field for Ganyu to Melt her charged shots. The coordinated Pyro attacks keep Pyro applied consistently enough for Reverse Melt reactions. This team also benefits from Dehya’s protection keeping Ganyu safe.
Burgeon Team
This is where Dehya fills a unique niche. With a full EM build, she triggers Burgeon seeds created by Dendro + Hydro reactions. Her coordinated Fiery Sanctum attacks hit enemies and detonate Dendro cores for Burgeon DMG. This team does not need Dehya to deal personal damage — her EM does the heavy lifting.
- Dendro DPS: Nahida or Alhaitham
- Hydro Support: Xingqiu or Yelan
- Burgeon Trigger: Dehya (full EM build)
- Flex: Second Dendro or healer
Mono Pyro Team
In a Mono Pyro setup, Dehya works alongside Bennett and other Pyro characters to stack Pyro resonance and amplify all Pyro DMG. She contributes off-field Pyro through her Fiery Sanctum while Bennett heals and buffs ATK.
- Main DPS: Klee, Yoimiya, or Arlecchino
- Sub-DPS: Xiangling
- Support/Healer: Bennett
- Support: Dehya
C6 On-Field DPS Team
At C6, Dehya becomes a viable on-field Pyro DPS during her Burst window. Pair her with strong buffers and Hydro for Vaporize reactions.
- Main DPS: Dehya (C6)
- Hydro Support: Xingqiu or Yelan
- Buffer: Bennett or Kazuha
- Flex: Any Anemo or support character
Dehya Talent Priority
Level Dehya’s talents in this order based on her role:
Support / Tank build:
- Elemental Skill (Molten Inferno) — The Fiery Sanctum’s absorption cap and coordinated attack damage both scale with this talent level. Level it first for a support Dehya.
- Elemental Burst (Leonine Bite) — Only level if you plan to use her Burst regularly. Otherwise, it can stay at a lower level.
- Normal Attack — Very low priority in a support build.
DPS / C6 build:
- Elemental Burst (Leonine Bite) — This is where her on-field DPS damage comes from. Level it first.
- Elemental Skill (Molten Inferno) — Still important for off-field damage and absorption.
- Normal Attack — Low priority even at C6.
Is Dehya Worth Building?
Dehya is an honest character with a unique identity in the game. She offers something no other Pyro character does — a damage absorption field that protects your active character while also applying off-field Pyro. Her support role in fragile DPS teams like Hu Tao is genuine and appreciated.
At C0, she works best as a support or Burgeon trigger rather than a primary damage dealer. Her personal damage is held back by lower multipliers and a short Burst window, but these are not dealbreakers if you understand her role. If you pull her from the standard banner over time and build her Constellations up, she becomes a noticeably better character — especially at C2 and C6.
If you are looking for a high-damage Pyro DPS, other characters like Arlecchino or Hu Tao will outperform her in that role. But for the specific job of protecting a squishy DPS while contributing off-field Pyro, Dehya does the job well and has a dedicated niche.
