The Hotel Manager’s Safe in 007 First Light is one of the first hidden puzzles in the game. You are in the middle of the Slovakia mission, tracking a suspicious blond man through a hotel chess tournament, and the safe is sitting right under the manager’s desk — locked, with no obvious clue about the combination.
This guide tells you exactly where the manager’s office is, how to get inside without raising the alarm, how to figure out the safe code, and what you find when you crack it open.
- The Hotel Manager’s Safe is in Chapter 6: All the Time in the World.
- The manager’s office is behind the hotel reception, inside the Staff Only restricted area.
- The safe code is 1952 — the vintage year of the Vino Sacramental wine bottle on display in the office.
- The clue is found in a note inside the left-hand drawer, which points to that specific wine.
- Opening the safe completes the Wine Connoisseur challenge and gives you the 6 of Roses collectible card and the Cellar Key.
- Getting into the office without being spotted also completes the The Manager challenge.
Where Is the Hotel Manager’s Office in 007 First Light?
The manager’s office is located on the ground floor of the hotel during the All the Time in the World chapter. It sits behind the main reception desk, deep inside a Staff Only restricted area.
Here is how to find it step by step:
- Head down from the main hotel floor to the reception area.
- Look for an open doorway near the reception desk where two guests are talking. Walk past them.
- Push through the large double doors directly ahead, labeled “Staff Only.”
- You are now in the restricted back-of-house area. The manager’s office is in the back right corner of this zone.
There are two routes to reach the office once you are through the Staff Only doors. You can go through a room with two maids and sneak past them, or you can enter the corridor with a single guard standing watch and get past him. Either way leads to the manager’s office door.
While you are in this section, it is also a good time to grab the laundry area code from the manager’s desk — that note is separate from the safe and contains the code to the locked laundry room door. The 007 First Light hotel laundry area code guide has the full details on that.
How to Get Into the Manager’s Office Without Being Spotted
Getting inside the office cleanly also unlocks the The Manager challenge, so it is worth doing quietly. Here is how:

Method 1: Through the Maid’s Room (Quietest Route)
After entering through the Staff Only double doors, you will find yourself in a room with a maid actively cleaning. Immediately crouch — if she spots you, the stealth run is over.
Stay behind the table she is cleaning near. Then press L1 or LB to open your Q-Lens and look for the vacuum cleaner in the room. Hack it. The vacuum will switch on, the maid will walk over to investigate, and you can slip through the door to the manager’s office on the right while her back is turned.
The moment you step through that door, the The Manager challenge completes.
Method 2: Past the Hallway Guard
If you take the other route through the Staff Only area, you will find a guard standing watch in the hallway that connects to the manager’s office. You have a couple of options here:
- Use your Dart Phone to make the guard dizzy, then pickpocket him for the manager’s office key and walk through the door.
- Alternatively, shoot the grandfather clock behind him with a dart — the noise will make him turn around and investigate, giving you time to slip past.
- If you do not want to use a gadget, you can also kick the door down, but this will snap the guard out of any daze and he will notice you.
Either way, once you are inside the office, make sure to close the door behind you so nobody spots you through the doorway while you are searching.
Hotel Manager’s Safe Code in 007 First Light
The safe is located underneath the manager’s desk. It has a four-digit keypad. When you first see it, there is no obvious code — just a safe with no label on it.
The answer is hidden in the room itself. Here is how to work it out, and the shortcut if you just need the number.

The Safe Code Answer: 1952
Enter 1952 on the keypad, then confirm the combination. The safe will open.
On PC, press E to confirm after entering the digits. On console, use the on-screen prompt to submit the code.
How to Find the Clue Yourself
The office has several wine bottles on display along the walls, each with a different vintage year. At first glance, they all look the same — multiple years, no obvious standout.
The key is to open the left-hand desk drawer. Inside, there is a handwritten note that says something along the lines of: the 1972 Archambeau Rouge is decent, but it cannot compare to the Mont Arras Sacramental.
This note tells you that the manager’s favourite wine is the Vino Sacramental — the one they care about most. People tend to use sentimental dates as passwords. So inspect the Vino Sacramental bottle on display in the room. Its vintage year is 1952. That is your code.
It is a small but satisfying bit of detective work — the kind of thing the game rewards you for if you stop and actually look at your surroundings rather than guessing.
What Is Inside the Hotel Manager’s Safe?
Opening the safe gives you two things:
- 6 of Roses playing card — one of the 36 collectible cards in the game. This one counts toward the Casino Royale trophy and achievement.
- Cellar Key — this key unlocks access to certain sections deeper in the hotel, making it easier to navigate restricted areas later in the chapter.
Opening the safe also completes the Wine Connoisseur challenge. Combined with entering the office unseen, you can knock out both The Manager and Wine Connoisseur in a single visit, which is the efficient way to handle this part of the chapter.
For a full breakdown of all 36 collectible cards and where to find them, the 007 First Light all missions, challenges and collectibles guide has every location listed.
What Does the Cellar Key Unlock?
The Cellar Key you find in the safe can be used to access locked cellar sections within the hotel. It gives you an additional route through parts of the building that would otherwise be off-limits, making it easier to move around without running into guards.
It is not strictly required to complete the main story objective, but having it gives you more freedom to explore and access areas connected to optional challenges and collectibles in the same chapter.
Two Challenges in One Visit
This section is a good example of how 007 First Light layers its challenges. You can complete two challenges back to back with a single quiet run through this part of the hotel:
- The Manager — Enter the manager’s office without being detected.
- Wine Connoisseur — Open the safe using the correct wine year code.
Both are available during the Search the Hotel objective in the All the Time in the World chapter. Do them before you progress to the next checkpoint, or come back via chapter select if you missed them. The 007 First Light how to replay missions guide explains how that works.
For all 26 challenges across the full chapter, the 007 First Light All the Time in the World all challenges guide has the complete list with step-by-step instructions.
Tips for Getting In and Out Cleanly
A few things that help make this section easier:
- Hack the vacuum first, not last. The vacuum distraction is your main tool in the maid’s room. Activate it the moment she has her back near it — this gives you the most time to move through the door before she finishes investigating.
- Close the office door behind you. It takes one button press but it stops any passing guard or maid from seeing you through the doorway while you are reading notes and cracking the safe.
- Check the drawer before the safe. Even if you already know the code, interacting with the drawer note is part of the environmental storytelling. It also confirms the logic of the puzzle in case you want to figure it out yourself on a future run.
- Use the antique clock or grandfather clock to distract the hallway guard. If you do not want to spend a Dart Phone charge, shooting the clock with a dart makes enough noise to pull the guard’s attention away from the door without alerting anyone else.
- The safe is under the desk, not on the wall. A lot of players miss it because they expect a wall-mounted safe. Look down and slightly forward when standing at the manager’s desk.
For gadget loadout tips going into this section, see the 007 First Light best gadget loadout guide. The Dart Phone and Q-Lens are both active here and pairing them well saves time.

Other Things to Do in the Manager’s Office
While you are in the office, do not leave immediately after opening the safe. There are two other useful things here:
- Pick up the laundry area code note from the top of the desk. This is a separate piece of paper from the wine drawer note and contains the four-digit code for the hotel laundry room door (1805). You will need this shortly to follow the blond man.
- Inspect the wine bottles if you want the full picture. Each one is named after a date in IO Interactive’s history — a neat bit of developer trivia baked into the environment.
The laundry room itself is the next major stealth section after this office. It is where you can pick up the bellboy hat disguise and complete three challenges at once. See the 007 First Light Bellboy Hat guide for how that section works.
Where Is This in the Chapter Timeline?
The manager’s office visit sits within Checkpoint 03: The Game Is On, during the Search the Hotel objective. This is fairly early in the chapter — before the laundry section, before Room 206, and well before the dining room fireplace puzzle.
It is the right time to sneak off and do some optional exploration. The story objective does not rush you at this point, so take the time to grab the safe rewards and both challenges before moving on.
If you want a map of everything available before and after this section, the 007 First Light Room 205, 206 and 207 guide covers the hotel floor above, and the 007 First Light dining room puzzle guide covers what comes much later in the same chapter.
