What Is the Spacetime Rift in Aion 2?

The Spacetime Rift is a temporary portal that opens between the two opposing faction territories. When it’s active, Elyos players cross into Asmodian lands (Altgard), and Asmodians step into Elyos territory (Verteron).

Inside, you can complete faction-specific quests, farm mobs, explore sealed dungeons and strongholds, and — if you choose — fight enemy players in open PvP. It’s one of the most rewarding endgame events in Aion 2, but you’ve got a very tight window to enter.

Spacetime Rift Timer: When Does It Open?

Spacetime Rifts run on a fixed 3-hour cycle, giving you 8 openings every single day. Here’s the key thing to remember about the timer:

    • Portal entry window: 10 minutes (from the moment it opens)
    • Time inside: 1 hour (individual per character)
    • Daily openings (Global server): 00:00, 03:00, 06:00, 09:00, 12:00, 15:00, 18:00, and 21:00 UTC

If you miss those 10 minutes at the start, you’re locked out until the next cycle. The game does send a server-wide message saying “A Spacetime Rift has appeared” along with a purple spiral icon on your map, so keep an eye out for both.

Your 1-hour timer inside the rift is separate from the portal’s opening window. So even if you enter at the last second, you still get the full hour on the enemy side.

How to Unlock the Spacetime Rift

You need to be Level 45 to access Spacetime Rifts. That’s the current global level cap, so this is purely endgame content. Once you hit 45, the rift portals start appearing on the map during their scheduled windows.

You’ll also unlock 7 Spacetime Rift quests from your faction’s quest merchant, found under Regional Quests in your journal. Pick these up before entering — you can’t grab them from inside enemy territory.

Spacetime Rift Locations: Where Do Portals Spawn?

Aion 2 Spacetime Rift Events Explained 2
Aion 2 Spacetime Rift Events Explained 2

Rift portals don’t spawn in just one spot — they appear across multiple locations in your faction’s starting zones. When the rift opens, check your map for the purple spiral marker. Zooming in on the map makes it much easier to find.

Each region has roughly 9 to 10 rift spawn points. Portals are capped at 400 players per rift, so if you’re on a busy server, get there fast. There are multiple portals spread around to help distribute the crowd.

Pro tip: Before the rift opens, fast-travel to the Kibelisk closest to where you think a portal will appear. That saves precious time from your 10-minute entry window.

What Can You Do Inside the Spacetime Rift?

Once you’re through the portal, you’ve got a full hour on enemy ground. Here’s what you can do:

    • Complete your 7 rift quests — the main reason most people go in
    • Farm mobs and resources — enemy territory has its own materials
    • Clear Sealed Dungeons and Strongholds — accessible from the opposing faction’s map
    • Earn Abyss Points — even past your weekly cap from other sources, making this one of the only ways to stack extra Abyss Points in a week
    • PvP with enemy players — only if War Mode is active (more on that below)
    • Explore the other faction’s world — useful if you want to see areas your main character can’t normally visit

All 7 Spacetime Rift Quests and Rewards

Both factions have a separate set of 7 quests. Pick them all up from your quest giver before you enter. Here’s what each faction gets:

Asmodian Quests (Quest Giver: Uru at Collapsed Chasm, Altgard)

    • Spacetime Rift – Find and enter the portal → Outsider Ring, 2,000 Abyss Points, title, ~21,000 Kina
    • Unknown Species – Kill specific creatures → Outsider Earrings, Kisk Summoning Stone (Personal), 2,000 Abyss Points
    • Unfamiliar Material – Collect toxic aura from Mutated Forest Guardian and Mutated Elim → Outsider Bracelet, 2,000 Abyss Points
    • Difference Between Here and There – Scouting task → Chaser Ring, 2,000 Abyss Points, ~36,000 Kina
    • Developing Travel Goods – Defeat Highland Sparkies → Chaser Earrings, Kisk Summoning Stone (Party), 2,000 Abyss Points, ~36,000 Kina
    • An Honest Shugo – Longer task → Avenger Ring, 2,000 Abyss Points, ~58,000 Kina
    • Proof – Final quest → Daevanion Crystal, Wisdom Stone, 2,000 Abyss Points

All quests also reward EXP, Wisdom Stones (Bound), and Daevanion Crystals (Bound).

Elyos Quests (Quest Giver: Mino at Dawn Legion Temporary Outpost, Verteron)

    • Spacetime Rift – Enter the portal → Facade Ring, Title: Altgard Traveler, 2,000 Abyss Points, ~21,000 Kina
    • Unfamiliar Material – Collect materials in enemy zone → Facade Earrings, Title: Early Adopter, 2,000 Abyss Points
    • Not Quite the Same – Exploration quest → Daevanion Crystal, Wisdom Stone
    • Beautiful Carapace – Gather carapace items → Accessory reward, Abyss Points
    • Pure Plants – Collect plant materials → Accessory reward, Abyss Points
    • Perfect Tool – Craft/material quest → Daevanion Crystal, Wisdom Stone
    • Trendsetter – Final Elyos quest → Daevanion Crystal, Abyss Points, Kina

The quests are worth doing every rift run. Daevanion Crystals and Wisdom Stones are useful upgrade materials, and Abyss Points stack up fast across multiple runs.

War Mode: PvP On or Off?

When Spacetime Rifts first launched, entering enemy territory meant automatic PvP risk. NCSoft later added War Mode — a toggle that lets you choose whether to engage in PvP or not.

Here’s what you need to know about War Mode before you step through the portal:

    • You can only change War Mode in your own faction’s territory — not inside the rift
    • Switching PvP on or off has a 70-minute cooldown
    • With War Mode off, enemy players cannot attack you and you cannot attack them
    • With War Mode on, you can engage in open PvP with the opposing faction
    • Warning: Even if War Mode is off, accidentally hitting an enemy guard switches you into PvP mode for around 10 minutes — so watch your clicks near enemy Kibelisks

If you just want to complete quests and farm, set War Mode to off before entering. If you’re hunting enemy players, flip it on ahead of time. Simple as that.

Spacetime Rift Duration Tickets: Extend Your Time

One hour inside the rift goes fast, especially if you’re going for all 7 quests plus some farming. Luckily, there are two items that let you extend your stay:

    • Spacetime Rift Duration Ticket — adds 10 extra minutes inside the rift
    • Spacetime Rift Ticket — adds 30 extra minutes for longer sessions

Both are crafted from Rift Resonator materials through the Substance Morph system. If you’re planning a serious farming run or want to clear dungeons on the enemy map, craft a ticket beforehand.

How to Survive in Enemy Territory

Enemy territory isn’t just about finding quests — it has real risks. Here’s how to stay alive and get the most out of your run:

    • Bring Resurrection Spiritstones — if you die without one, you respawn in your own territory and the run is over
    • Avoid enemy Kibelisks — the guards around them can burst you down very fast, even if you’re geared
    • Don’t accidentally attack guards — this forces your War Mode on for around 10 minutes, leaving you open to enemy player attacks even if you had it off
    • Fast-travel points matter — unlock as many travel points in your own territory as you can before entering, so you can reach the rift portal quickly in future runs
    • An Asmodian entering through an Altgard rift lands at Aullaeu Village in Verteron — the first quest (Spacetime Rift) completes on arrival, so that’s an easy tick
    • Prioritize quests first, then use leftover time for farming or exploration

For class-specific tips on how to survive and deal damage, see our Skill Order Priority guide and Back Attack vs Front Attack explained.

Spacetime Rift Domination: The PvP Event (Korea/Taiwan)

Beyond the regular Spacetime Rift, there’s a separate PvP event called Spacetime Rift Domination. As of late 2026, this is currently available only on Korea and Taiwan servers — not in the Global client.

It runs on Monday, Thursday, and Saturday at 20:00 and 23:00 server time. Each match has a 5-minute preparation phase and lasts around 15 minutes. The mode involves stronghold occupation and defense between the two factions across Verteron and Altgard.

If it comes to the Global client in a future update, it’ll be worth jumping into for PvP-oriented players.

Is the Spacetime Rift Worth Doing Every Day?

Yes — especially early in your endgame journey. Here’s why:

    • The 7 rift quests give you a steady stream of Daevanion Crystals and Wisdom Stones — both important for character progression
    • You earn Abyss Points past your weekly cap, which almost no other activity lets you do
    • The accessory rewards from quests (rings, earrings, bracelets) are solid gear, especially early on
    • It takes less than an hour if you focus, so it fits into most play sessions

Once you’ve done the 7 quests on a run, use leftover rift time to clear Sealed Dungeons or farm mobs for extra materials. It’s efficient time spent.

    Frequently Asked Questions

What level do you need for the Spacetime Rift in Aion 2?

You need to reach Level 45, which is the current max level in the global version. The rifts and all 7 rift quests unlock as soon as you hit that cap.

How long does the Spacetime Rift stay open?

The portal to enter stays open for 10 minutes. Once you’re inside, you get 1 hour in enemy territory before the game automatically sends you back.

How many times does the Spacetime Rift open per day?

    It opens 8 times a day on a 3-hour cycle. On global servers the openings are at 00:00, 03:00, 06:00, 09:00, 12:00, 15:00, 18:00, and 21:00 UTC.

Can I turn off PvP in the Spacetime Rift?

Yes. War Mode lets you toggle PvP on or off. Set it before entering the rift, because you can’t change it inside. There’s a 70-minute cooldown between changes, and you can only switch in your own faction’s territory. Even with War Mode off, hitting an enemy guard will temporarily enable PvP for around 10 minutes.

Where do Asmodians go when they enter the Spacetime Rift?

Asmodians cross into Verteron (Elyos territory). They arrive at Aullaeu Village, and the first rift quest completes automatically on arrival.

Where do Elyos go when they enter the Spacetime Rift?

Elyos players cross into Altgard (Asmodian territory) and collect their quests from Mino at the Dawn Legion Temporary Outpost in Verteron before entering.

What happens if I die inside the Spacetime Rift without a Resurrection Spiritstone?

You’ll be sent back to your own faction’s territory and lose the rest of your time inside. Always carry Resurrection Spiritstones before entering.

How can I extend my time in the Spacetime Rift?

You can craft a Spacetime Rift Duration Ticket (adds 10 minutes) or a Spacetime Rift Ticket (adds 30 minutes) using Rift Resonator materials through Substance Morph.

Can I play Aion 2 for free?

Yes. Aion 2 is free to play. You can download it on Steam or play it via the official Aion 2 website.
