Salt Lagoon Treasure Map – AC Black Flag Resynced Solution & Rewards

Salt Lagoon Treasure Map in AC Black Flag Resynced is found on Abaco Island at (581, 804). Dig at coordinates (719, 607) on Salt Lagoon's northwest beach for the Serpent Figurehead Design Plan and 3,000 Reales.

The Salt Lagoon Treasure Map in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is one of the most confusing early-game maps. That is because the map is not found on Salt Lagoon at all. You pick it up on Abaco Island and then sail to Salt Lagoon to dig up the reward. This guide covers every step — where to grab the map, how to reach Salt Lagoon safely, exactly where to dig, and what you get.

  • TL;DR: The Salt Lagoon Treasure Map is looted from a skeleton on Abaco Island at coordinates (581, 804).
  • The treasure is buried on Salt Lagoon’s northwest beach at coordinates (719, 607).
  • Look for the large rock formation on the beach. Dig just south of it near the green ferns.
  • Reward: Serpent Figurehead Design Plan + 3,000 Reales.
  • Salt Lagoon is close to Gibara. Approach from the south to avoid enemy warships.

Where to Find the Salt Lagoon Treasure Map

The map itself is on Abaco Island, not Salt Lagoon. Abaco Island sits in the northwest section of the world map, in the Eleuthera region. It is visited naturally during Sequence 3 as part of the story, so you can grab this map in passing without going out of your way.

Head to the southwest shore of Abaco Island at coordinates (581, 804). You will find a skeleton slumped against a palm tree near the beach. Loot it to collect the Salt Lagoon Treasure Map. The map then appears in your Codex under the Treasure Maps tab, where you can view the clue drawing and confirm the dig coordinates.

The clue image shows a tall rock formation near a beach. That is the visual hint for what to look for when you reach Salt Lagoon. Keep that image in mind as you sail over.

For everything else on Abaco Island, including its collectibles and story content, see our Abaco Island Treasure Map guide, which also covers a second map that leads back to Abaco from Andreas Island.

How to Get to Salt Lagoon Safely

Salt Lagoon sits in the northern part of the Gibara region, close to the Gibara fortress. This is the tricky part. If you sail straight north from Abaco Island, you may run directly into Gibara’s patrol ships, which can be very tough early in the game.

The safest approach is to start from the south and keep to the west as you head north. This lets you skirt around the restricted zones near Gibara and Eleuthera without getting pulled into an unfair ship battle. Salt Lagoon’s dock coordinates are around (720, 604). Dock the Jackdaw and head ashore.

Once you land, synchronize the Viewpoint on the island first if you have not already. The Viewpoint is on the bowsprit of a wrecked ship on the southwest beach. This gives you a clear overhead view of the island and makes it easier to orient yourself for the dig.

With the map in your inventory, head to the northwest side of the island. The dig site is at coordinates (719, 607). This places it on the northwestern beach, just south of the tallest rock formation on the shore.

Look for a large rock surrounded by palm trees and green ferns. The dig spot is right at the base of that rock, near the ferns. Get close to the greenery by the rock and you will see the Dig Up prompt appear on screen. Edward will also say “This place looks familiar” when you are standing in the right area, which is a helpful audio cue that confirms you are in the correct spot.

This dig site is easy to miss if you stand too far back from the rock. Make sure you walk right up to the ferns growing at its base before expecting the prompt to appear.

Digging at coordinates (719, 607) gives you two things:

  • Serpent Figurehead Design Plan — A cosmetic upgrade for the Jackdaw. Redeem it through the Harbourmaster’s Shop to change the figurehead on your ship.
  • 3,000 Reales — A solid chunk of money, especially useful early in the game for ship upgrades and crafting.

The Serpent Figurehead Design Plan is purely cosmetic and does not affect ship stats. However, if you are working towards completing all ship customization options, this is one you want to grab early. The 3,000 Reales is the more immediately useful part of the reward. It covers a good portion of an early ship upgrade or a full batch of crafting materials.

To get the most out of your Reales, check our ship upgrade and customisation guide and our crafting guide for what to prioritise first.

Other Things to Do on Salt Lagoon

Salt Lagoon is a small island but it has a few collectibles worth grabbing while you are there. Here is a quick checklist:

  • Viewpoint — On the bowsprit of a wrecked ship on the southwest beach. Climb and synchronize it.
  • Chest — In the water off the south beach. Contains 1,000 Reales. Wade or dive out to collect it.
  • Secret / Northeast skeleton — Near a bendy palm tree in the northeast part of the island, you will find another pirate skeleton with a letter in a bottle. This leads to a different treasure on New Bone island at coordinates (407, 94), rewarding an Art Collection Piece: Maize Deity and 2,500 Reales.
  • Deer hunt — There is a deer on the island to hunt as part of the hunting challenges.

The bonus skeleton in the northeast is worth grabbing immediately after you dig up the main Salt Lagoon treasure. It starts you on another quick treasure chain at no extra sailing cost.

Treasure Map Tips for AC Black Flag Resynced

The Salt Lagoon situation is common in AC Black Flag Resynced — many treasure maps are found on a completely different island from where the treasure is actually buried. The map name tells you where the treasure is, not where the map is located. Keep that rule in mind as you hunt down more of them.

A few things to remember:

  • You must have the map in your inventory before the dig prompt will appear. You cannot go straight to the coordinates and dig without it.
  • Treasure chests from maps do not count toward the chest total for any region on the map.
  • Check your Codex regularly. The clue drawing on each map is a visual hint, and the coordinates shown are your dig location.
  • Some treasure maps are locked behind story progress. The Salt Lagoon map is available from early in Sequence 3, making it one of the first you can complete.
