How Farming Works in Palworld 1.0
Farming is a Work Suitability type used exclusively at the Ranch. The Ranch is unlocked at Technology Level 5 and costs 30 Wood, 20 Stone, and 30 Fiber to build. It holds a maximum of four Pals at once. Any Pal with the Farming suitability assigned to a Ranch will produce items passively — roughly every minute or so per Pal — without you needing to do anything.
The most important thing to understand about Farming in Palworld 1.0 is that each Pal drops a fixed item tied to its species. The Farming Suitability level itself (which now runs from 1 to 10 in Version 1.0) does not change what a Pal drops — only how much it drops over time, which scales through Pal Condensation. So picking the right Pal for your Ranch is a coverage decision, not a numbers decision. You fill your four slots with the drops your base actually needs.
You can also build multiple Ranches to run more Pals simultaneously. There is no cap on how many you can build, so once your base is established, stacking two or three Ranches is the fastest way to multiply your passive production.
Make sure to fix each Pal’s assignment to the Ranch so they do not wander off to do other tasks. If a Pal has other Work Suitabilities like Handiwork or Transporting, it may prioritize those jobs instead of staying at the Ranch unless you lock it in. Best Farming Pals for Breeding (Cake Ingredients)
Breeding requires Cake, and Cake requires five ingredients: Egg, Milk, Honey, Red Berries, and Flour. Four of those come directly from Ranch Pals. If you are focused on breeding, these four slots are non-negotiable.
Chikipi — Eggs
Chikipi is the only Pal in the game that produces Eggs at the Ranch. Eggs are the most critical Cake ingredient and also your main source of food early on. Mozzarina — Milk

A single Ranch cannot cover all five Cake ingredients because Flour does not come from any Ranch Pal — you need to grow Wheat at a Wheat Plantation and grind it at a Mill. Sibelyx — High Quality Cloth (Best Cloth Pal)
Sibelyx is one of the most efficient Ranch Pals in the entire game for one specific reason: it produces finished High Quality Cloth directly. Every other Wool-producing Pal (Lamball, Cremis, Melpaca) requires you to gather 10 Wool and 1 Leather and then craft it at a workbench. Sibelyx skips that step entirely. If you are crafting armor or gear that requires High Quality Cloth, one Sibelyx in your Ranch saves significant crafting time and material overhead.
Its upgraded variant, Sibelyx Primo, has the highest base Farming level of any Ranch Pal at Level 4, making it the top cloth producer in the game if you can get one.
Lamball / Cremis / Melpaca — Wool
These three all produce raw Wool. Lamball is the first you will encounter — it is one of the tutorial capture targets — and Cremis is an easy early alternative. Melpaca has no other Work Suitabilities so it stays at the Ranch without issue. Wool is needed for Cloth, which feeds into a wide range of gear and building recipes. Unlike almost every other Ranch Pal which drops one fixed item, Vixy rolls from a weighted table: Pal Spheres at 59.5%, Arrows at 23.8%, Gold Coins at 11.9%, and Bone at 4.8%. That means a single Ranch slot with Vixy passively fills three of the most constantly-needed resources in the game at once. Condensing Vixy increases both the quantity and the tier of spheres it can produce over time, eventually pulling Mega Pal Spheres.
Mau / Mau Cryst — Gold Coins
Mau and its Cryst variant both produce Gold Coins at the Ranch. This is especially valuable because it removes the need to hunt human enemies for gold.
