It becomes essential around the mid-game, right when you start needing Polymer and firearms. Two High Quality Pal Oil makes one unit of Polymer in a Production Assembly Line, and Polymer is used in almost every advanced weapon and tech structure from level 33 onwards.

One important thing to note: High Quality Pal Oil and Crude Oil are two completely different resources. Crude Oil is a mineral extracted from oil fields in late-game zones and is used for Plasteel and advanced power systems. High Quality Pal Oil is an organic drop from Pals. What Is High Quality Pal Oil Used For in Palworld

Before you commit to farming, it helps to know why you need so much of it. Here are the main uses.

• Polymer: 2 High Quality Pal Oil per unit. Polymer is the base ingredient for nearly every mid-to-late game weapon and structure. Unlock it at Technology level 33.
• Firearms: Musket, Handgun, Makeshift Handgun, Old Revolver, Makeshift Shotgun, Makeshift Assault Rifle, Makeshift SMG, Marksman Revolver, and more all require it directly.
• Weapon Assembly Line: The Production Assembly Line that lets you craft advanced items needs High Quality Pal Oil to build.
• Witch Cauldron: Required as part of its build recipe.
• Pal Saddles: Mammorest Saddle and Mammorest Cryst Saddle both use it.

1. Dumud or Dumud Gild Ranch Farm – Best Passive Method

This is the best long-term farming method in the game. Assign either Dumud or Dumud Gild to a Ranch at your base and they will produce High Quality Pal Oil passively over time with a 100% guaranteed production rate. You do not need to be online or active. It just builds up in your base storage while you do other things.

Dumud is a Ground and Water-type Pal found in the Twilight Dunes desert and on Dry Sandy Beach. It can also be found as a level 14 Field Alpha Boss southeast of the Ice Wind Island fast travel point. Dumud Gild is a rarer variant introduced with the 1.0 update. It can be fished up from specific water spots in the Desiccated Desert, at Oasis Isle east of the desert biome, and near the Sealed Realm of Terraria fast travel point. Dumud Gild also drops Gold Coins occasionally from the Ranch on top of the oil, making it even more valuable.

To set this up, unlock the Ranch at Technology level 5, capture a Dumud or Dumud Gild, and assign them to the Ranch. That is all. Multiple Dumud assigned to multiple Ranch structures will multiply your passive output significantly. This is the setup most experienced players build once they reach the mid-game and never worry about oil again.

2. Digtoise – Best 100% Drop Rate Wild Hunt

Digtoise is a Ground-type Pal with a confirmed 100% drop rate for High Quality Pal Oil. Every single one you defeat or capture drops it. That makes it the most reliable wild hunt in the game for this material.

Digtoise is found in the Twilight Dunes desert biome. Head northeast of the Sealed Realm of the Winged Tyrant fast travel point and you will find them. They move slowly and are not hard to deal with, which makes farming runs fast and efficient. Bring Grass or Water-type Pals to exploit its Ground-type weakness and you can clear groups quickly.

Remember that capturing a Pal and then butchering it with a Meat Cleaver rolls the drop table twice. You get the Paldex entry and the drops from capture, then butchering gives you another roll on the same drop table. If you are trying to bulk farm oil in a hurry, this doubles your output per Pal.

3. Mammorest and Mammorest Cryst – Best Bulk Drops

Mammorest and Mammorest Cryst are large Pals that drop 5 to 10 High Quality Pal Oil per kill. That is one of the highest per-kill outputs of any Pal in the game. If you need a large quantity fast, these are the targets to look for.

Mammorest spawns in grassy open areas across the Palpagos Islands. Mammorest Cryst is the Ice variant and is found in the northern snow biome. The Cryst version is a tougher fight but rewards you with the same large oil drops. If you are a high-level player pushing into the endgame, Mammorest Cryst hunting in the Astral Mountains is one of the fastest bulk methods available.

Mammorest Cryst Saddle requires High Quality Pal Oil to craft, so farming the Pal that gives you the oil to ride the Pal is a satisfying loop.

4. Relaxaurus – Best for Mid-Level Hunting Loops

Relaxaurus is a Dragon-type Pal that drops a solid amount of High Quality Pal Oil and tends to spawn in groups. That makes it good for hunting loops where you can clear several Pals quickly in one area. Relaxaurus Lux is the Electric variant and drops the same material.

If you want to maximise your Relaxaurus farm, bring Cryolinx as your mounted partner. Cryolinx has the Dragon Hunter Partner Skill which increases the number of items dropped by Dragon Pals. Running a Cryolinx while hunting Relaxaurus can noticeably increase the amount of oil you pull per run.

5. Woolipop – Best Early Game Option

If you are still in the early levels and do not have access to the desert or late-game biomes yet, Woolipop is your best bet. It is found in the Bamboo Groves and is a relatively low-level Pal that is easy to deal with. It drops High Quality Pal Oil and is the safest early source before you can reach Digtoise or Dumud territory.

Do not expect huge quantities from Woolipop runs. It is not as efficient as the methods above. Use it to bridge the gap until you can get a Dumud Ranch set up or start hunting in the desert.
