Where to Find Mysterious Mushroom in Palworld

    By Mark Smith · July 22, 2026 · 10 min read
    mysterious mushroom in palworld

    TL;DR

    • Mysterious Mushroom is found exclusively on Sakurajima Island, northwest of the main Palpagos Islands.
    • Head to the southeastern side of the island and chop down the giant blue mushroom trees with a Metal Axe or better.
    • The best fast travel anchor point is at coordinates -464, 132 on Sakurajima.
    • Blue mushroom trees have a higher drop rate than red ones — prioritize those.
    • You can also farm it from Pals: Dualith Noct (3–5 guaranteed), Shroomer Noct (1–2 guaranteed), Mycora (2–3 at 50%).
    • Do not eat it raw — it makes you hungrier and is not a food item despite being listed as a Consumable.
    • It is used to craft Mysterious Mushroom Juice, the Shroomer Noct Saddle, and the Growth Acceleration Bell.

The Mysterious Mushroom in Palworld is one of those materials that is easy to miss if you do not know where to look. It appears in a single location on the map, does not grow anywhere else, and is easy to confuse with the common Mushroom or Cavern Mushroom that drops all over Palpagos Islands — they are completely different items and are not interchangeable. This guide covers exactly where to find Mysterious Mushrooms, the fastest farming methods, which Pals drop them, and everything you can craft once you have a stockpile. Play Palworld on Steam, Xbox, or PlayStation, developed by Pocketpair.

What Is Mysterious Mushroom in Palworld?

Mysterious Mushroom is a crafting ingredient categorized as a Consumable in Palworld. Despite technically being consumable, the in-game description spells it out plainly: it is not suitable for eating raw. If you eat one, it actually makes you 25 hunger points worse off and hits you with a hunger resistance debuff for one minute. The only upside to eating it raw is a minor +3 Sanity boost, which is not worth the trade-off.

Treat it as a pure crafting material. It is what you need for several important mid and late-game recipes, and you will want to build up a decent stock before you start crafting.

Also be careful not to confuse it with similar items. Palworld 1.0 has three different mushroom materials: the common Mushroom found everywhere across Palpagos, the Cavern Mushroom found in caves and used in medicine recipes, and the Mysterious Mushroom — which is the blue Sakurajima-exclusive item this guide covers. None of them are interchangeable in crafting recipes.

Where to Find Mysterious Mushroom in Palworld

    mysterious mushroom location in palworld

Mysterious Mushroom only grows in one place in the entire game: Sakurajima Island. This island sits far northwest of the starting Palpagos Islands, separated by a large stretch of water. You will need a flying mount to get there without a long and difficult swim.

Once you reach Sakurajima, head to the southeastern side of the island, into the area known as the Mushroom Wetlands. This is a swampy region dense with giant mushroom trees growing near the water’s edge. Both red and blue mushroom trees here can drop Mysterious Mushrooms when cut down, but the blue ones have a noticeably higher drop rate — prioritize those when sweeping through the area.

The best fast travel point to anchor your farming run is at approximately -464, 132 on Sakurajima. Once you unlock that point, future runs become quick fast-travel-in, chop, collect, fast-travel-out loops.

If you are heading to Sakurajima for the first time, this island is also where you can find Hardwood — which is useful to combine into the same trip. Check our guide on how to get Hardwood in Palworld to make the most of the visit.

How to Farm Mysterious Mushrooms Fast

Here is the most efficient approach to bulk-farming Mysterious Mushrooms from the Sakurajima mushroom trees:

    • Equip a Metal Axe or better. The Metal Axe gives roughly a 33% drop rate from the giant mushroom trees with each strike. Upgrade to a Pal Metal Axe or the Plasma Multicutter if you have them — both are faster and more efficient than the standard axe.
    • Focus on the blue mushroom trees first. They have a higher Mysterious Mushroom drop rate than the red trees. Clear all the blue ones you can see before moving to the red ones.
    • Chop at the stem of each giant tree. Hitting the trunk is what triggers the drops — do not just hit the cap. Keep swinging until the tree breaks and collect everything that falls around the base.
    • Build a base nearby. If you plan to farm Mysterious Mushrooms regularly, setting up a small forward base on Sakurajima with Logging Pals assigned will let those Pals automatically chop down the mushroom trees for you as they regrow, turning it into a fully passive farm.
    • Run a circuit. Clear all the blue trees in the Mushroom Wetlands, then loop back to the fast travel point and return. The trees respawn over time, so repeated runs yield consistent batches.

Which Pals Drop Mysterious Mushroom in Palworld

If the mushroom trees have not respawned yet, or if you want a guaranteed drop without relying on RNG from chopping, hunting specific Pals is a solid secondary method. Three Pals drop Mysterious Mushrooms in Palworld:

Dualith Noct — Best Volume Drop (World Tree)

Dualith Noct is the single best Pal to hunt for Mysterious Mushrooms if you are already in the endgame. It drops 3 to 5 Mysterious Mushrooms at a 100% rate every time you defeat or capture one. That is the highest guaranteed yield per kill of any Pal in the game for this material. Dualith Noct is found in the northwest region of the World Tree map at around Level 75 to 77. If you are farming the World Tree for other materials already — like Paloxite or other endgame drops — sweeping through Dualith Noct spawns on the same run is a very efficient way to stockpile Mysterious Mushrooms without making a dedicated trip to Sakurajima.

Shroomer Noct — Most Accessible Pal Drop

Shroomer Noct drops 1 to 2 Mysterious Mushrooms at 100% per defeat or capture. It is found in the southeastern region of Sakurajima Island and on the northern and western coasts of Feybreak Island. Since it appears on Sakurajima itself, you can combine killing Shroomer Nocts with your mushroom tree chopping run on the same island visit. Note that Shroomer Noct is nocturnal, so it is more active at night. Plan your Sakurajima runs around night time if you want to target this Pal specifically.

    Mycora — World Tree Alternative

Mycora drops 2 to 3 Mysterious Mushrooms at a 50% rate, making it less consistent than the other two but still worth targeting if you encounter them during World Tree exploration. Regular Mycora spawns appear in the southwestern areas of the World Tree at around Level 75 to 77. There is also a Level 78 Alpha named Cute as a Button Mycora at coordinates -35, 731 on the World Tree map, which uses the same drop quantity and rate as the regular version. Hunt the Alpha for a larger single encounter yield whenever it has respawned.

Can You Get Mysterious Mushroom from a Ranch?

Yes — but only through the base Shroomer, not Shroomer Noct. The regular Shroomer Pal has a Farming Work Suitability and produces Mushrooms at the Ranch, with a 66.7% chance of dropping a standard Mushroom and 33.3% chance of a Cavern Mushroom. It does not produce Mysterious Mushrooms at the Ranch — that is a drop exclusive to Shroomer Noct through combat or capture.

If you want a fully passive supply of Mysterious Mushrooms, the Sakurajima base with Logging Pals is the only automated farming option. For a full breakdown of which Pals produce what at the Ranch, see our guide on the best Pals for farming in Palworld 1.0.

What Can You Craft with Mysterious Mushroom in Palworld?

Mysterious Mushrooms are used in four main crafting recipes. Here is each one and what it takes:

    Mysterious Mushroom Juice

This is the primary use for Mysterious Mushrooms. The Juice greatly boosts work speed for a period of time — but at the cost of drastically decreasing your Pal’s SAN value. It is fed directly to a Pal and cannot be placed in a Feed Box. It functions as a short-term efficiency spike, useful when you need a Pal to blitz through a crafting backlog or complete a time-sensitive task.

Crafting Station: Electric Medicine Workbench or Advanced Medicine Workbench

For the Bone and Aquatic Pal Fluids you need, check our guides on how to farm Aquatic Pal Fluids and the best resource farming routes in Palworld.

    Shroomer Noct Saddle

The Shroomer Noct Saddle lets you ride Shroomer Noct as a mount. It is the most common reason players need Mysterious Mushrooms in bulk early on, since 20 are required per saddle.

    Recipe: 20 Mysterious Mushroom + 20 Leather + 30 Fiber + 10 Refined Ingot + 30 Paldium Fragment

    Crafting Station: Pal Gear Workbench

If you need Leather for this recipe, see our guide on how to farm Leather in Palworld.

    Growth Acceleration Bell

This is arguably the most valuable long-term use for Mysterious Mushrooms. The Growth Acceleration Bell is a base structure that speeds up Pal growth, making it especially useful if you are actively breeding and want to reduce the time it takes for Pals to mature. The Ancient Civilization Parts required for this recipe are a grind, but the Bell is worth building early once you have the materials.

    Recipe: 10 Mysterious Mushroom + 25 Ingot + 30 Paldium Fragment + 3 Ancient Civilization Parts

For the Ancient Civilization Parts, see our guide on how to farm Ancient Civilization Cores in Palworld.

    Medicine Production Research Upgrades

Mysterious Mushrooms are also a required material for several Medicine Production research upgrades at the workbench. These upgrades improve the efficiency and output of your medical crafting operations at base, so if you are running a medicine production setup, keep a reserve of Mysterious Mushrooms available.

Tips for Farming Mysterious Mushrooms Efficiently

    • Make your first trip to Sakurajima on a fast flying mount. The island is separated by water and a weak mount can leave you stranded mid-route. See our guide on the best flying mounts in Palworld 1.0 for the top picks.
    • Unlock and save the Sakurajima fast travel point at -464, 132 on your first visit. All future farming runs start from there.
    • Bring a Metal Axe or Pal Metal Axe as your minimum — standard axes are too slow to farm efficiently.
    • Do not eat Mysterious Mushrooms by mistake. They make you hungrier and drain your stats. Keep them in your crafting storage, not your food supplies.
    • If you are in the World Tree already, hunt Dualith Nocts for the fastest volume. Three to five per kill adds up quickly during a normal exploration sweep.
    • Night runs on Sakurajima double as Shroomer Noct farming. You collect from the trees while Shroomer Nocts spawn actively around you.
    • Combine the trip with Hardwood farming. Both resources share the same island, so you can fill multiple crafting queues in a single visit.
