Fastest Pal Mounts in Palworld 1.0

Fastest Pal mounts in Palworld 1.0 ranked — flying, ground, and swimming speeds compared, with how to get each one and the passive skills that make them even faster.

TL;DR

  • Jetragon is the fastest mount in Palworld 1.0 overall — sprint speed 3,300 — found on Sunreach Island at Level 70.
  • Panthalus is the most unique flyer — it holds a constant 3,000 speed with zero stamina drain and never needs a saddle.
  • Shaolong (2,800) and Xenolord (2,700) are the top alternatives — Xenolord has triple Jetragon’s stamina, making it better for long trips.
  • Eidrolon (1,400 base) scales higher the more Dragon and Dark Pals are in your party via its Partner Skill.
  • Hartalis and Necromus (both 1,900) are the fastest ground mounts — Hartalis can triple-jump.
  • Neptilius is the fastest swimming mount (2,000 swim-dash speed).
  • Stacking Swift + Runner + Nimble + Legend adds up to +75% speed on any mount.

The fastest Pal mounts in Palworld 1.0 matter more than ever. The Version 1.0 map is massive — spanning the original Palpagos Islands, the floating Sunreach archipelago, and the World Tree endgame region — and slow travel makes the whole game feel like a grind. The right mount turns a frustrating cross-map trip into a two-minute flight. This guide ranks the fastest flying, ground, and swimming mounts in Palworld 1.0, tells you where to find each one, and covers the passive skills that push any mount well beyond its base speed. You can find Palworld on Steam, Xbox, and PlayStation, developed by Pocketpair.

How Mount Speed Works in Palworld 1.0

Every rideable Pal has two movement speeds: a base run speed and a sprint speed. The sprint speed is what matters for travel — it is the number you hit when you push your mount to full throttle. All the figures in this guide refer to sprint speed unless noted otherwise.

Swimming mounts use a separate stat called Swim Dash Speed, which is why they cannot be directly compared to flying or ground mounts on the same scale. Flying and ground mounts, however, share the same ride sprint metric — so a ground mount that hits 1,900 is directly comparable to a flying mount that hits the same number.

One important note: you cannot ride any Pal until you craft its saddle at a Pal Gear Workbench. Each saddle has a Technology Level requirement that unlocks only after you capture that specific Pal. Panthalus is the one major exception — it does not require a saddle at all.

Finally, all speeds below are base values. Passive skills can push these numbers significantly higher — more on that at the end of this guide.

Fastest Flying Mounts in Palworld 1.0

1. Jetragon — Sprint Speed 3,300 | Saddle: Tech Level 79

jetragon palworld 1 0
jetragon palworld 1 0

Jetragon is the fastest mount in the entire game. No flying Pal, ground Pal, or swimming Pal moves faster at sprint. With a sprint speed of 3,300 and a run speed of 1,700, it is in a class of its own for pure top speed. Its Partner Skill, Aerial Missile, also lets you fire homing missiles while riding, making it a travel and combat powerhouse in one slot.

The catch is stamina. Jetragon has only 110 stamina, which is low for an endgame mount. On short to medium trips it is unmatched, but across the massive distances between Sunreach and the World Tree it will need stamina breaks. This is the reason many players use Jetragon for targeted runs rather than continuous open-world travel.

In Palworld 1.0, Jetragon moved from its old Mount Obsidian location. It is now a Level 70 Alpha boss on Sunreach Island at approximately coordinates -553, -1332. For the full guide, see our article on where to find Jetragon in Palworld.

2. Panthalus — Constant Speed 3,000 | No Saddle Required

panthalus palworld 1 0
panthalus palworld 1 0

Panthalus is the most unique mount in Palworld 1.0 and a serious rival to Jetragon for practical daily use. Most flying Pals have a lower base speed and a higher sprint speed — two separate numbers. Panthalus is different: it maintains a constant 3,000 in both categories. There is no drop-off when it stops sprinting. More importantly, Panthalus never drains stamina while sprinting. That means you fly at 3,000 indefinitely, with no stamina management, no breaks, and no risk of falling out of the sky mid-ocean.

On top of that, Panthalus does not require a saddle. You can ride it the moment you capture it, saving crafting resources and Technology Points. Getting it is not simple though — it cannot be found roaming the world normally. You need to complete a quest chain tied to the Deserted Islet encounter, which involves interacting with an NPC at coordinates -178, 37, tracking down four giant remains scattered across the map, crafting an Echoing Flute at the Ancient Workshop, and using it at a tablet on the Deserted Islet to trigger the battle. You have a 10-minute window to catch it once the fight starts. For the unlock path, check our guide on how to get Panthalus in Palworld.

3. Shaolong — Sprint Speed 2,800 | Saddle: Tech Level 77

Shaolong

Shaolong is a new Palworld 1.0 addition and one of the fastest flying mounts available before you reach Jetragon. It has a sprint speed of 2,800 and a run speed of 1,400 with 100 stamina. What makes it stand out beyond raw speed is its combat utility — it brings strong defensive stats and high-damage moves that make it valuable outside of pure traversal. It spawns as a wild Pal in the World Tree biome, so you can find it during your regular World Tree exploration without a dedicated boss fight. For more on the World Tree, check our guide on how to get Shaolong in Palworld.

4. Xenolord — Sprint Speed 2,700 | Saddle: Tech Level 66

xenolord palworld 1 0
xenolord palworld 1 0

Xenolord is the mount that most experienced players actually use as their primary endgame flyer, and the reason is stamina. While it is slower than Jetragon at 2,700 sprint speed, it has 300 stamina — roughly three times Jetragon’s pool. For long cross-map hauls between Sunreach, the World Tree, and the main islands, Xenolord sustains full-speed flight far longer without breaks. It also has an exclusive Partner Skill, Meteor Wings, which provides a flying speed boost of up to 20% depending on condensation level. With speed passives, Xenolord can push past 3,200 effective speed, closing the gap with Jetragon. Xenolord is obtained as a raid boss — there is no fixed overworld spawn point for it.

5. Eidrolon — Sprint Speed 1,400 Base (Scales Higher) | Saddle: Tech Level 68

eidrolon palworld 1 0
eidrolon palworld 1 0

Eidrolon’s base sprint speed of 1,400 looks modest on this list, but its Partner Skill, Liberated Pterosaur, changes that equation entirely. For every Dragon or Dark-type Pal in your party, Eidrolon’s Attack and Movement Speed increase by 2% to 6%. Stack your party with Dragon and Dark Pals and it scales into one of the more competitive mid-range flying mounts in the game — without relying on passive skill breeding to get there.

Eidrolon also has Transporting Level 6 work suitability, giving it a second job at your base when you are not riding it. It is found as a Level 69 Alpha boss on Sunreach Island and also roams as a wild Pal in the World Tree’s Corroded Hollow area. See our full guide on how to get Eidrolon in Palworld.

Honorable Mentions — Reliable Mid-Game Flyers

Before you reach any of the above, these Pals carry you efficiently through early and mid-game progression:

  • Nitewing (750 speed, Saddle Lv. 15) — your first flying mount; accessible and a huge upgrade over walking
  • Vanwyrm (850 speed, Saddle Lv. 21) — the natural first upgrade from Nitewing
  • Beakon (1,200 speed, Saddle Lv. 34) — solid mid-game flyer, easy to find
  • Ragnahawk (1,300 speed, Saddle Lv. 33) — fast and accessible before endgame
  • Faleris (1,400 speed, Saddle Lv. 60) — excellent late-game progression flyer before the legendaries
  • Shadowbeak (1,600 speed, Saddle Lv. 47) — a strong step up in the late game before World Tree access
  • Frostallion (1,800 speed, Saddle Lv. 62) — classic endgame option with high stamina and reliable speed

Fastest Ground Mounts in Palworld 1.0

Ground mounts earn their slot in caves, dungeons, and boss arenas where flying is disabled. They also do not drain stamina the same way flying mounts do, making them better for sustained travel in certain situations. The top ground mounts in Version 1.0 are:

Hartalis — Sprint Speed 1,900 | Fastest Ground Mount

Hartalis is the fastest ground mount in Palworld 1.0, tied with Necromus at 1,900 sprint speed, with the added bonus of being able to triple-jump while mounted. That jump capability lets you clear large inclines, cross big gaps, and navigate uneven terrain that would stop most ground mounts cold. Getting Hartalis requires summoning it as a raid boss using slabs found in Feybreak region dungeons and expeditions. It is a tough fight, but the mobility payoff is the best of any ground Pal in the game.

Necromus — Sprint Speed 1,900 | Best Alternative Ground Mount

Necromus matches Hartalis’s 1,900 sprint speed and comes with a double jump and a dashing Dark-type melee attack skill that makes it strong in combat while mounted. It carries the built-in Legend passive, which means you do not need to breed that in separately — it already comes with +20% attack, +20% defense, and +15% movement speed. Its saddle unlocks around Level 61. Necromus spawns alongside Paladius at a fixed location at approximately coordinates 446, 681 in the Desiccated Desert.

Paladius — Sprint Speed 1,800

Paladius sits just behind Necromus at 1,800 sprint speed and is the only Pal with a triple jump among the non-raid ground mounts. Despite slightly lower raw speed, its jump mobility makes it better than Necromus on uneven terrain for many players. It is found alongside Necromus in the Desiccated Desert and its saddle also unlocks around Level 61.

Best Early Ground Mount — Direhowl (Sprint Speed 1,050, Saddle Lv. 9)

Direhowl unlocks the earliest saddle in the game at Level 9 and stays the fastest accessible mount for a long stretch of early game. Nothing meaningfully faster is available until Ragnahawk at Level 33, so a Direhowl you catch in your first hour remains your best land ride for a surprisingly long time.

Fastest Swimming Mounts in Palworld 1.0

Swimming mounts use a separate Swim Dash Speed stat and do not drain stamina in water, making raw speed the only thing that matters when comparing them.

Neptilius — Swim Dash Speed 2,000 | Fastest Swimmer

Neptilius is the fastest swimming mount in Palworld 1.0 and the best option for crossing the oceans between islands. It is a new Legendary Pal added in Version 1.0, found as a Level 60 Alpha boss on a small island in the far north of the map. Its saddle unlocks at Tech Level 64. For reaching offshore locations, oil rigs, and islands that are impractical to fly to, Neptilius is unmatched.

Jormuntide — Swim Dash Speed 1,800 | Best Classic Swimmer

Jormuntide has been the go-to swimming mount since Palworld launched in Early Access and remains the best widely-accessible option in 1.0. Its saddle unlocks at Level 40, well before Neptilius is available. If you are in the mid-game and need to cross oceans, Jormuntide is the answer.

Surfent — Swim Dash Speed 1,440 | Best Early Swimmer

Surfent is the earliest swimming mount in the game, with its saddle unlocking at Level 16. It is also a useful Ranch Pal in Version 1.0 — it now produces Leather passively at the Ranch, making it worth catching early for both traversal and base production. For more on that, see our guide on the best Pals for farming in Palworld 1.0.

Best Speed Passives to Make Any Mount Faster

Every mount’s base speed is just the starting point. Four passive skills stack additively to boost any Pal’s movement speed significantly:

  • Swift — +30% Movement Speed
  • Runner — +20% Movement Speed
  • Nimble — +10% Movement Speed
  • Legend — +15% Movement Speed (plus +20% Attack and +20% Defense — Legendary rarity only)

Stacking all four gives a total of +75% movement speed on any mount. On a Jetragon with a base sprint of 3,300, that pushes effective speed to approximately 5,775 — roughly 11 times faster than running on foot. Even without Legend (which requires breeding), Swift + Runner + Nimble alone gives +60%, turning a mid-tier mount into a genuinely fast travel option.

For mounts that already have built-in passives like Necromus (Legend) or Xenolord (Meteor Wings), you can focus the remaining breeding slots on pure speed passives without needing to breed Legend in separately. See our full breakdown of all new passive skills in Palworld 1.0 for everything available in the current version.

There is also a stamina-specific passive worth noting: Eternal Engine grants a 75% boost to maximum stamina, specifically for rideable Pals. On Jetragon — whose low stamina is its main weakness — this changes the flying experience entirely.

The Wing Pack — Flying Without a Mount Slot

Version 1.0 also introduced the Wing Pack, a new traversal tool that provides free flight without occupying a Pal party slot. It consumes Wing Cells rather than Pal stamina and lets you fly independently of your mount lineup. This means you can dedicate your entire party to combat or base-worker Pals while still having aerial mobility available. For situations where mount speed is not the priority, the Wing Pack is a strong alternative. Check our guide on how to get the Wing Pack in Palworld for the full unlock path.
