Jetragon Guide — Palworld 1.0

Jetragon guide for Palworld 1.0 — location, how to catch it, best builds for speed and combat, skills, breeding, drops, and how to unlock the Missile Launcher.

TL;DR

  • Jetragon is Paldeck #202 — a Legendary Dragon-type Pal and the fastest flying mount in Palworld 1.0 at sprint speed 3,300.
  • It moved in 1.0 — it is now a Level 70 Alpha boss on Sunreach Island at coordinates -553, -1332, not Mount Obsidian.
  • Weak to Ice. Bring Frostallion, Cryolinx, or another high-level Ice Pal. Use Ancient or Legendary Spheres.
  • Only Jetragon + Jetragon produces a Jetragon egg — no cross-species breeding combo works.
  • Its Partner Skill (Aerial Missile) fires homing missiles while mounted but locks out your own weapons.
  • Unlock Jetragon’s Missile Launcher at Technology Level 79 to activate the Partner Skill.
  • It comes with built-in Legend and Divine Dragon passives — breed for Swift, Runner, and Nimble for max speed.
  • Work Suitability: Gathering Level 8 — useful at base but primarily a party and mount Pal.

Jetragon has been the face of Palworld since the very first trailers, and in Version 1.0 it received a new location, a higher level, and a buffed Partner Skill that makes it the definitive endgame mount and one of the strongest combat Pals in the game. This complete Jetragon guide covers everything: where to find it, how to beat and catch it, its full skill set, the best builds for speed and combat, how to breed it, and what drops it gives. You can play Palworld on Steam, Xbox, and PlayStation, developed by Pocketpair.

Jetragon Overview

Jetragon is Paldeck entry #202 and one of five Legendary-rarity Pals in Palworld. It is a pure Dragon-type with one of the highest base Shot Attack stats in the game at 140, and its sprint speed of 3,300 makes it the fastest rideable Pal across every terrain type — flying, ground, or water. Its in-game lore says it watches over Palpagos Island from the highest reaches of the sky, destined to obliterate any calamity that returns to the land.

In practical terms, Jetragon earns its Legendary status twice over: as a travel mount it is unmatched for short-to-medium-range speed, and as a combat Pal its Aerial Missile Partner Skill turns every ride into a missile barrage. The two main trade-offs are a low stamina pool for a Legendary Pal (110), and the fact that activating Aerial Missile locks you out of using your own weapons while mounted.

Jetragon’s Location in Palworld 1.0

Jetragon Location Palworld
Jetragon Location Palworld

Jetragon moved in Version 1.0. Its old spawn at Mount Obsidian near coordinates -789, -321 is gone — if you are following a pre-1.0 guide or an old map, those coordinates will send you to the wrong place.

In Palworld 1.0, Jetragon is a Level 70 Field Alpha boss on Sunreach Island (the Sky Island chain). The encounter appears as Legendary Celestial Dragon Jetragon and the boss marker sits at approximately -553, -1332 on the Sunreach map, in the northwestern area of the island chain just north of the Waterlily Gorge fast travel point. It does not appear in the World Tree at any time of day.

If you arrive at the coordinates but do not see it immediately, adjust your altitude and circle the platform — the boss marker will appear once you are close enough. If it still is not there, it may have already been defeated and not yet respawned; fast travel away and return.

How to Reach Sunreach Island

Sunreach is a late-game region accessible via the Feybreak Tower portal at approximately coordinates -1294, -1669 in the far southwest of the main map. Fly to the top of the tower on your current flying mount and interact with the portal — you do not need to defeat the tower boss. This teleports you directly to Sunreach near the Sunreach Tower fast travel point. From there, head northwest toward -553, -1332.

If you need a flying mount capable of reaching Sunreach from the mainland, check our guide on the fastest Pal mounts in Palworld 1.0 and our full guide on how to reach Sunreach Island.

How to Beat Jetragon

At Level 70 with a high Attack stat, Jetragon is a serious threat to underprepared players and Pals. Treat this as a true endgame fight.

Jetragon’s Weakness

Jetragon is a pure Dragon-type. It is weak only to Ice attacks. Bring Ice-type Pals — Frostallion and Cryolinx are top picks. Avoid Dark and Neutral Pals as Jetragon’s Dragon-type moves deal increased damage against them.

Combat Tips

  • Be at least Level 65 or higher. Jetragon’s attacks can one-shot underprepared players and Pals.
  • Bring Pals at Level 65+ — a high level matters more than just having the right element type.
  • Use ranged weapons to keep pressure on Jetragon while repositioning. A timed Rocket Launcher hit can open damage windows and briefly stagger it.
  • Recall Pals before they take a big hit — Jetragon’s moves hit in wide areas and can knock out a Pal in one or two strikes.
  • Repair your weapons and stock food before making the trip. The journey to Sunreach is long enough that arriving with broken gear is a painful mistake.
  • In multiplayer, teaming up with other players dramatically reduces the difficulty.

How to Catch Jetragon

Jetragon has a low base capture rate as a Legendary Pal. Standard and Ultra Spheres are not worth using here. Bring the best spheres you have:

  • Ancient Spheres — unlock at Technology Level 74 and require Paloxite to craft — minimum recommended
  • Legendary Spheres — best capture rate; use these if you have them

Bring 15 to 20 spheres. A missed throw at this level costs the sphere with nothing to show for it. Follow these steps to maximize your chance on every throw:

  • Weaken it as much as possible without killing it. The lower its HP the higher your capture chance.
  • Throw from behind. Landing a sphere on Jetragon’s back triggers a capture rate bonus on every attempt.
  • Apply a status effect. Freezing Jetragon with an Ice Pal grounds it temporarily and improves your odds.
  • Set a small base nearby before engaging. If you are knocked out, you can fast travel back quickly, restock, and re-engage without losing the whole run.

You can also hatch Jetragon from a Huge Dragon Egg (the large purple egg with black stripes) if you find one in the world — though it is not guaranteed since multiple Pals can hatch from that egg type.

Jetragon’s Active Skills

Jetragon learns seven active skills as it levels, mixing Dragon and Fire-type attacks with one Jetragon-exclusive move:

  • Flamethrower (Lv. 1) — Shoots fireballs that explode after a short distance, scattering smaller fireballs forward
  • Dragon Burst (Lv. 7) — Quickly discharges draconic energy to damage everything around it
  • Twin Tornado (Lv. 15) — Generates two flaming tornadoes and launches them at the enemy
  • Dragon Breath (Lv. 22) — Exhales continuous draconic breath dealing sustained damage in front
  • Beam Comet (Lv. 30) — Jetragon’s exclusive skill; illuminates its wings and fires countless beams as it charges at the enemy — beams explode on impact
  • Fire Ball (Lv. 40) — Hurls a giant fireball that explodes over a wide area on impact
  • Dragon Meteor (Lv. 50) — Summons and launches numerous small meteorites at the enemy

Beam Comet is the centerpiece of any combat build. It is Jetragon-exclusive and hits extremely hard, especially with Dragon attack-boosting passives. For the best active skill combo on a combat Jetragon, run Dragon Meteor, Beam Comet, and Fire Ball for wide area coverage and sustained damage output.

Jetragon’s Partner Skill — Aerial Missile

Jetragon’s Partner Skill is Aerial Missile. When active, it turns Jetragon into a rideable flying mount and lets you rapidly fire homing missiles at enemies while mounted. The missiles fire in large bursts and track targets, dealing reliable damage against almost anything you point at.

There is one important trade-off: activating Aerial Missile locks out your own weapons while mounted. You are firing missiles instead of using your equipped gear. If your combat style relies on a specific weapon — especially a Rocket Launcher for stun windows — this is worth thinking about before committing to a Jetragon ride build. Xenolord’s Partner Skill, Meteor Wings, does not have this restriction and lets you use your weapons while mounted, which is why some endgame players prefer it for boss fights despite Jetragon being faster.

To activate Aerial Missile, you must craft Jetragon’s Missile Launcher at the Pal Gear Workbench. This unlocks at Technology Level 79 and costs 5 Technology Points. It also requires Paloxite Ingots among its crafting materials. Craft it, equip Jetragon as your active mount, and the missile system activates automatically when you engage enemies from the saddle.

Jetragon as a Flying Mount

With a ride sprint speed of 3,300 and a run speed of 1,700, Jetragon is the fastest flying mount in Palworld 1.0 — no Pal beats it for raw top speed. The main limitation is stamina: Jetragon has only 110 stamina, which is low for an endgame Legendary. On short to medium trips it is unmatched, but on very long cross-map hauls between Sunreach and the World Tree it will need stamina recovery breaks.

For comparison against the other top endgame flyers, see our full tier list of the fastest Pal mounts in Palworld 1.0. The best flying alternative for long-distance travel is Xenolord (2,700 sprint, 300 stamina) or Panthalus (3,000 constant speed, unlimited stamina).

Best Builds for Jetragon

Best Speed Build (Flying Mount)

This build squeezes every point of movement speed out of Jetragon for the fastest possible traversal:

  • Legend — +20% Attack, +20% Defense, +15% Movement Speed (built in on wild Jetragon)
  • Swift — +30% Movement Speed
  • Runner — +20% Movement Speed
  • Nimble — +10% Movement Speed

All four together add +75% total movement speed on top of the base 3,300 sprint stat, pushing effective speed to approximately 5,775 — roughly 11 times faster than on foot. Breed these in through multiple generations of Jetragon + Jetragon pairings, prioritizing parents that already carry at least two of these four passives to narrow your RNG window.

Best Combat Build

This build maximizes Jetragon’s damage output for boss fights and field combat:

  • Legend — +20% Attack, +20% Defense, +15% Movement Speed
  • Musclehead — +30% Attack (with -50% Work Speed — acceptable on a combat-only Pal)
  • Ferocious — +20% Attack
  • Divine Dragon — +20% Dragon attack damage (built in on wild Jetragon)

Combined, this gives Jetragon a massive total Attack boost that makes its Beam Comet hits genuinely dangerous to any endgame target. If you prefer not to carry the Work Speed penalty, swap Musclehead for Brave (+10% Attack, no negatives) or Hooligan (+15% Attack, -10% Work Speed) as lighter alternatives. For the best active skills on a combat build, run Dragon Meteor, Beam Comet, and Fire Ball.

Jetragon’s Work Suitability

Jetragon has a single work suitability: Gathering Level 8. That is among the highest Gathering ratings in the game, and assigning it to your base means it will harvest resources from plants and gathering nodes automatically at impressive speed.

However, by the time most players actually have a Jetragon, there are better Gathering workers available. Its value is overwhelmingly in your party as a mount and combat Pal. If you do want to use it at base, pair it with Planting and Watering Pals so the Gathering work actually has something to do. Check our guide on how to assign Pals to work in Palworld if you want to set this up efficiently.

How to Breed Jetragon

Jetragon cannot be produced by breeding two different species together. The only breeding combination that produces a Jetragon egg is Jetragon + Jetragon. That makes catching at least one — and ideally one male and one female — the required first step before breeding becomes possible at all.

Once you have a pair, breeding serves two purposes. First, it lets you produce additional Jetragons with better passive skills than the wild-caught originals. Second, every egg has a small chance to produce a Mutation — a hatched Jetragon with boosted base stats beyond the normal maximum. Hatch in bulk to chase the right passive combination and a potential Mutation.

Jetragon can also function as a parent in cross-species breeding. Paired with various other Pals it produces 69 different species — making it a versatile breeding anchor for players who want to pass down its built-in Legend and Divine Dragon passives to other Pals across generations. Check our guide on how to get Ancient Technology Points to unlock the breeding station upgrades that support large-scale breeding runs.

What Jetragon Drops

Defeating or capturing the Alpha Jetragon gives you a reliable batch of late-game materials worth farming even after you have your first one:

  • Soralite — key endgame crafting material from Sunreach
  • Thermal Core — used in several endgame recipes
  • Diamond — high-value crafting material
  • Large Pal Soul — used for Pal stat upgrades
  • Rocket Launcher Schematic 4 — rare drop chance
  • Jetragon Bounty Token — on first defeat

For more on the Soralite it drops and how to use it, see our guide on how to get Soralite and Soralite Ingot in Palworld.

Jetragon vs. Xenolord — Which Should You Use?

This is the most common endgame mount debate in Palworld 1.0 and the answer depends on what you are doing:

  • Choose Jetragon if you want the absolute highest sprint speed, short-burst travel dominance, and do not mind the Aerial Missile locking out your weapons while mounted.
  • Choose Xenolord if you want a mount you can use through long multi-island trips without stamina breaks, want to keep firing your own weapons from the saddle during fights, or plan to boost it further with speed passives (Xenolord with Legend + Swift + Runner pushes past 3,200 effective speed).

Both are top-tier — the practical difference is stamina and weapon flexibility, not a question of which is objectively better. Many endgame players keep both and switch based on the situation.

Quick Tips for Getting the Most Out of Jetragon

  • Do not go to Mount Obsidian — Jetragon is not there in Version 1.0. Go to Sunreach Island at -553, -1332.
  • Use the Feybreak Tower portal to reach Sunreach faster than flying cold from the main island.
  • Bring 15 to 20 Ancient or Legendary Spheres — do not attempt this catch with less.
  • Throw spheres from behind and freeze Jetragon before throwing for the best odds.
  • Unlock Jetragon’s Missile Launcher at Tech Level 79 immediately after catching one — the saddle does nothing without the Launcher.
  • Wild-caught Jetragon already has Legend and Divine Dragon built in. Breed for Swift, Runner, and Nimble to complete the speed build.
  • You need a male and female Jetragon before you can breed — make catching both a priority from your first Sunreach visit.
