How to Get White Lion Necklace in Crimson Desert (Legendary White Lion Location)

Get the White Lion Necklace in Crimson Desert — find the Legendary White Lion at the Turquoise Rock Pools, defeat it with the cliff cheese or direct fight, then skin it for the best crit necklace in the game.

TL;DR

  • The White Lion Necklace drops from the Legendary White Lion near the Turquoise Rock Pools in the far northeast of the Crimson Desert region
  • It is obtained by skinning the body after the kill — do not leave without skinning or you get nothing
  • Base stats: Attack +2, Critical Rate Level 1, passive Spirit regen +0.1 per second
  • Fully upgraded: Attack +5, Critical Rate Level 4 — with the hidden accessory doubling, this functions as Critical Rate Level 8
  • Fastest kill method: Force Palm the White Lion off the cliff edge — instant kill from fall damage
  • Kill the Legendary White Lion first — the lionesses scatter or despawn when it dies
  • Killing Black Fang (Legendary Wolf) first reveals all legendary animal locations on your map permanently

The White Lion Necklace is widely regarded as the best necklace in Crimson Desert for any damage build. It boosts Attack, stacks Critical Rate, and passively regenerates Spirit over time — a combination that benefits every weapon type and playstyle. There is nothing else in the neck slot that does all three at once.

The catch is that it sits in one of the most remote corners of the map, guarded by an aggressive pride of lions that all attack simultaneously. The fight can be hard or trivially easy depending on what you know going in.

This guide covers the exact location, two ways to handle the fight, the cliff cheese, and why this necklace is worth prioritising over everything else in the neck slot.

White Lion Necklace Stats

StatBaseFully Upgraded
Attack+2+5
Critical RateLevel 1Level 4
Spirit Regen+0.1 per second (passive)+0.1 per second (passive)

The hidden accessory multiplier: The game does not tell you this, but accessory stats are effectively doubled. A Critical Rate Level 4 necklace functions as Level 8 in practice. This makes the White Lion Necklace the single largest source of Critical Rate in any build — more than most weapons and armor combined.

The passive Spirit regeneration is always active regardless of refinement level. As you push further into the game, Spirit becomes the resource that powers your strongest abilities, so having a constant free trickle of it without using consumables is a genuine advantage in extended fights and tough boss encounters.

Fully upgrading the necklace should be your first priority over armor upgrades in any crit-focused build.

Legendary White Lion Location

The Legendary White Lion is found in the far northeast of the Crimson Desert region — the hot, arid zone at the top of the map, not to be confused with the Hernand or Pailune areas below it.

Exact location: Head to the north area of Trader’s Expanse, just before you reach Varnia (the northernmost city on the map). On the eastern side near the coast, you will find the Turquoise Rock Pools — a series of vibrant tiered water features along the shoreline. Look for three half-circle grey icons along the east coast on your map. The pools are right there.

The White Lion does not spawn inside the water. It patrols a rocky cliff to the southwest of the Turquoise Rock Pools, elevated above the water. The lion is noticeably larger than the regular lionesses around it and has a bright white and silver colouring. You will recognise it immediately.

How to get there from Hernand: Travel north through Demeniss, then continue north into the Crimson Desert region. Follow the eastern coastline toward Varnia. The Turquoise Rock Pools are just south of Varnia along the coast. Fast travel to the closest Abyss Nexus point you have in the north, then glide toward the location to cut travel time significantly.

Before You Go: Reveal the Map First

If you want all legendary animal locations permanently marked on your map, kill Black Fang the Legendary Wolf before hunting the White Lion. Defeating Black Fang drops Leebur’s Soul, a key item that — when used — marks every legendary animal location in the game on your map forever.

Black Fang is found in the Forest of Wolves north of Hernand. You unlock the hunt through the Howls from North Gate quest under House Celeste, which requires completing enough Hernand Faction Quests. How to Defeat the Legendary White Lion

The Fight Setup

When you approach the cliff, the White Lion will roar and its entire pride of lionesses will attack immediately. All of them are hostile from the start — there is no stealth window. The danger is not the White Lion itself but being swarmed from multiple directions at once by the full pride.

Key rule: Focus on the White Lion, not the lionesses. When the Legendary White Lion dies, the lionesses scatter or despawn. You do not need to kill them individually. Chasing down lionesses wastes time and gets you killed by the boss.

Method 1: Force Palm Cliff Kill (Fastest and Easiest)

This is the most efficient strategy and requires almost no preparation.

The White Lion patrols a cliff edge above the Turquoise Rock Pools. When you get close enough:

  1. Dodge or ignore the lionesses rushing toward you
  2. Get close to the Legendary White Lion
  3. Use Force Palm (R3 on PlayStation/Xbox, or the mouse wheel on PC) two to three times to push the lion toward the cliff edge
  4. The White Lion takes fatal fall damage from the drop and dies instantly

Any skill or arrow type that has a knockback effect works the same way — explosive arrows, Force Current, or any ability that physically pushes enemies backward. Force Palm is just the most accessible option since it requires no setup.

This completely bypasses the prolonged fight. Even if the lionesses are hitting you during the push, the kill happens too fast for it to matter.

Method 2: Direct Fight

If you prefer a clean fight, here is how to handle the pride:

Bring a combat mount. The White Bear and Silver Fang legendary mounts fight alongside you and draw aggro from the lionesses, letting you focus entirely on the boss. For mount guides, see our pages on how to get the White Bear legendary mount and how to get the Silver Fang legendary mount.

Bring plenty of healing. Grilled Meat or Hearty Meals — as many as you can carry. The multi-target pressure from the pride adds up fast if you take a few bad hits. See our guide on how to cook the best healing food in Crimson Desert.

Dodge inward on pounces. When a lioness leaps at you, dodge toward it rather than away. This puts you behind the animal for a quick counter-attack and avoids the follow-up swipe.

Stay mobile. The White Lion is fast and aggressive. Do not stand still and trade hits — keep moving, strike during recovery windows, and use Force Palm to stagger it when it closes in.

The fight is actually considered one of the easier legendary animal encounters once you understand the structure. The White Lion gets staggered frequently and shifts to a more defensive posture once you establish consistent pressure on it.

After the Fight: Skin the Body

This is the most important step — do not skip it.

The White Lion Necklace does not drop automatically into your inventory. You must walk up to the corpse and skin the body after the kill. The necklace appears in your inventory only through skinning. If you leave the area without doing this, you leave empty-handed.

Approach the body, interact with it, and select the skin option. The White Lion Necklace will appear alongside standard loot like raw meat and hide. Pick everything up before moving on.

How to Upgrade the White Lion Necklace

Once you have the necklace, take it to any Blacksmith in Hernand, Demeniss, or Varnia and select the Refinement option. The necklace upgrades up to refinement level +4.

Before committing to each upgrade step, preview the material cost at the Blacksmith interface so you know exactly what resources you need. Each refinement level meaningfully raises both the Attack and Critical Rate stats.

Upgrade the necklace before your armor. In crit builds, the necklace provides the largest Critical Rate gain per upgrade compared to any other piece of equipment. Getting it to max refinement first dramatically improves your damage output across every weapon type.

For a full breakdown of the upgrade process, see our guides on how to reinforce equipment in Crimson Desert and how to get and use Hernand Refinement Tokens.

White Lion Necklace vs Necklace of Lightning

Both are top-tier Critical Rate necklaces. Here is how they compare:

White Lion NecklaceNecklace of Lightning
How to getDefeat and skin Legendary White LionStrongbox in Eastern Court, Demeniss
Max Attack+5+5
Max Crit RateLevel 4Level 4
SpecialPassive Spirit regen (+0.1/s)Detect weaknesses faster with Blinding Flash
Difficulty to getModerate — remote location, pride fightEasy — sneak route, simple dial puzzle

At max refinement both necklaces have identical Attack and Critical Rate ceilings. The White Lion Necklace has the edge due to its passive Spirit regeneration, which has real value in extended fights and boss encounters where your skill bar runs dry. The Necklace of Lightning is much easier to get and is a solid placeholder until you make the trip north.

Best Gear to Pair with the White Lion Necklace

The White Lion Necklace is the foundation of any crit build. Once you have it, these pieces stack on top to push Critical Rate to extreme levels:

Kuku Flame-Resistant Armor — provides Critical Rate Level 3 to all weapons. Combined with the White Lion Necklace, you get 12 to 14 total Critical Rate points across every weapon type. This pairing is considered one of the strongest gear combinations in the game.

Vow of the Dead King (Two-Handed Sword) — innate Critical Rate Level 4 at upgrade. Pairs with Turning Slash to build stagger quickly. For the full boss build using this weapon, see our guide on how to beat the Forgotten General in Crimson Desert.

Pailunese Signet Ring and Witch’s Ring — stack Critical Rate and Attack Speed on top of the necklace.

Infinite Arrows Abyss Gears — for bow builds, pair with the necklace for unlimited elevated-crit-chance arrows. See our Crimson Desert OP Infinite Arrow Archer Build.
