Flockingweed is a Snezhnaya Local Specialty added in Genshin Impact 7.0. It is currently the primary ascension material for Alyosha, the free 4-star Electro character from the Snezhnaya update, and is very likely to be used by future Snezhnaya characters as well. There are 74 Flockingweed nodes in Snezhnaya as of Version 7.0, and they are mostly concentrated around the central portion of the map in Fellfrost Peak. The plant has a thick stalk and a turquoise, fuzzy cap, which makes it easy to miss against the snowy terrain. All nodes respawn every 48 hours. You can also farm Flockingweed in another player’s world in co-op to speed up your stock. If you are working through Fellfrost Peak and need help with other collectibles, check out our Remnant Incense Guide Fellfrost Peak chest locations and our Frostfairy Flower locations guide to cover all the local specialties in one efficient area sweep.

What Is Flockingweed Used For?
Flockingweed is currently used exclusively as Alyosha’s Local Specialty ascension material. You need a total of 168 Flockingweed to fully ascend Alyosha from Level 1 to Level 90. Since a single full harvest of all 74 world nodes gives you far fewer than that, you will need at least three full farming cycles across multiple respawn windows. Co-op farming in a friend’s world is the fastest way to bridge the gap without waiting.

Best Characters to Use While Farming Flockingweed
Two characters make Flockingweed farming significantly faster:
- Alyosha — his exploration passive highlights nearby Snezhnaya Local Specialties on the minimap, including Flockingweed. Put him in your party and the nodes show up as icons as you walk around.
- Odette — has the same Local Specialty highlighting passive for Snezhnaya. If you have Odette built and in rotation, she works just as well as Alyosha for navigation. Check our Odette best build for her full setup.
Beyond those two, run characters with fast movement, low stamina consumption, or terrain traversal abilities. Fellfrost Peak’s terrain is rugged and vertical, so any character that can dash or glide efficiently saves meaningful time between nodes.
All Flockingweed Locations – Four Main Farming Routes
The 74 wild Flockingweed nodes break down neatly into four farming routes. Doing all four in one session clears 69 of the 74 nodes. The remaining 5 are scattered or inside a cave area that requires Archon Quest progress to access.
Route 1 – West of Svetloledovka (33 Nodes)
This is the largest single route and the best starting point for any farming run. Teleport to the waypoint near the Abandoned Shrines Domain and head down the stairs to find the first four plants near snow-covered roots.
Continue along the slope collecting in this order:
- 4 more beside the next set of roots
- 4 near a fallen tree
- 2 behind the Hilichurl camp
- 1 farther down the slope
- 2 beneath a tree near the road fork
Follow the path uphill toward the Scars of Obsession Domain. Five more plants grow beside the road here. Move slightly off-trail to collect another 4, then return to the main road and continue downhill. Two plants are hidden beneath a bush, and the final 5 in this route grow behind the trees farther down.
This route alone gives you almost half the total available Flockingweed in a single loop. Unlock the Svetloledovka Teleport Waypoints before your first run — without them, travel time between these clusters roughly doubles.
Route 2 – Frozen Lake (13 Nodes)
Start from the mountaintop Teleport Waypoint for this route. Follow the path downhill to the cliff edge, where the first 3 plants are located.
From there, collect in sequence:
- Glide toward the Cryo Statue of the Seven — 2 plants
- Drop to the smaller ledge below — 2 more
- Continue down toward the river — 2 beside the fallen tree
- Cross to the opposite side of the lake — 4 more to finish the route
The lake area is quieter than Route 1 and takes less time to sweep. It is a natural continuation if you start from the top of the mountain after finishing Route 1’s upper section.
Route 3 – Northwest of House of Hesperides (9 Nodes)
Teleport to the road northwest of the House of Hesperides. Turn right from the waypoint and walk forward to find a cluster of 3. Turn back toward the opposite side for another 2, then follow the road downhill. The final 4 plants are on the right side of the path.
This is the shortest route of the four but still worth including in every farming run. It is also conveniently close to the House of Hesperides entrance if you are doing the mansion’s puzzle chests at the same time. For everything inside the mansion, see our House of Hesperides challenges guide.
Route 4 – Tidesong Cavern (14 Nodes)
Tidesong Cavern and its surrounding coast hold 14 Flockingweed — 9 outside near the cave entrance and 5 inside the grotto itself.
Head toward the cave from the nearby Teleport Waypoint. Four plants grow beside the first pile of rocks, then 2 more slightly to the right, then 3 more at the second rock formation. Enter the cave: 2 plants are on the right shortly after entering, and the final 3 grow deeper inside.
Important: Entering Tidesong Cavern fully requires activating the Tidesong Cavern Meeting Point, which is tied directly to the Everwinter Without Mercy Act 1 Archon Quest. The 9 outdoor nodes near the cave entrance are accessible without this requirement. The 5 inside the grotto need the Archon Quest progress. If you cannot enter the cave yet, grab the outdoor cluster and return when your quest progress allows it.

Bonus Flockingweed – Precious Chest (9 Nodes, One-Time)
A Precious Chest located on the western shoreline of Fellfrost Peak contains 9 Flockingweed. Defeat the enemies around the chest to claim it. You can reach this area using the Train navigation system to get to Svetloledovka Station without needing to unlock nearby waypoints first, making it accessible early in your Snezhnaya exploration.
This is a one-time reward, but 9 Flockingweed in a single chest is a meaningful head start on Alyosha’s ascension materials.
How Many Flockingweed Does Alyosha Need?
Alyosha requires a total of 168 Flockingweed to reach Level 90. Here is what each ascension phase costs:
- Phase 1 (Level 20): 3 Flockingweed
- Phase 2 (Level 40): 10 Flockingweed
- Phase 3 (Level 50): 20 Flockingweed
- Phase 4 (Level 60): 30 Flockingweed
- Phase 5 (Level 70): 45 Flockingweed
- Phase 6 (Level 80): 60 Flockingweed
Since one full sweep of all 74 world nodes does not reach 168, you need to farm across multiple respawn windows. The math works out to roughly two and a half full world harvests. Co-op farming in another player’s world is the most efficient way to avoid waiting.
Flockingweed Respawn Time
Flockingweed respawns every 48 hours (real-world time) after being collected. This is the standard respawn timer for Genshin Impact Local Specialties. Plan your farming runs every two days to maximize your stock. If you need more before the respawn, join a co-op session and ask your host for permission to collect their world’s nodes.
Can You Buy Flockingweed?
There is currently no NPC vendor that sells Flockingweed as a recurring shop item. Open-world farming remains the only reliable repeatable source. If you have the Battle Pass, it can occasionally offer Local Specialty bundles that may include Flockingweed, but this is not guaranteed or consistent.
Can You Grow Flockingweed in the Teapot?
You can plant Flockingweed in the Serenitea Pot. To do this, equip the Seed Dispensary gadget when picking up Flockingweed in the wild — this gives you a Flockingweed Seed. Plant it in the “A Path of Value: Luxuriant Glebe” plot and it grows automatically after 70 hours. Teapot farming is a good passive method to accumulate Flockingweed between active farming runs, but the 70-hour grow time means it supplements rather than replaces open-world collection.
Tips for Efficient Flockingweed Farming
- Unlock Svetloledovka waypoints first. The west Svetloledovka route has 33 nodes and is the backbone of any farming run. Without the local waypoints, travel between clusters wastes a lot of time.
- Use Alyosha or Odette in your party. Their passive minimap highlighting turns a frustrating search into a straightforward sweep. Never farm Snezhnaya Local Specialties without one of them active.
- Do all four routes in one session. Clearing all 69 grouped nodes in a single run is more efficient than doing multiple short trips. Plan roughly 15 to 20 minutes for the full sweep.
- Grab the Precious Chest early. The one-time 9-node chest on the western shoreline helps you hit your Phase 2 and Phase 3 ascension targets faster without waiting for respawns.
- Combine Flockingweed runs with other Fellfrost Peak tasks. If you are also hunting Frostfairy Flowers or opening chests for the Remnant Incense Guide Fellfrost Peak, plan a combined route to cover all three in the same session.
- Use the in-game Item Tracker. Open the Paimon menu, go to the Handbook, and use the Item Tracker on Flockingweed. It marks up to three nearby nodes on your map at once as blue circles, pointing you toward the closest clusters.
After collecting your Flockingweed, make sure you are using them on the right character builds. See our Alyosha best build guide for artifact sets, weapon recommendations, and stat priorities. Frequently Asked Questions
Where do you find Flockingweed in Genshin Impact?
Flockingweed grows exclusively in Fellfrost Peak, Snezhnaya. There are 74 total nodes in the wild, concentrated in four main areas: west of Svetloledovka (33 nodes), the Frozen Lake area (13 nodes), northwest of the House of Hesperides (9 nodes), and in and around Tidesong Cavern (14 nodes). A one-time Precious Chest on the western shoreline of Fellfrost Peak also gives 9 Flockingweed.
How many Flockingweed does Alyosha need in Genshin Impact?
Alyosha needs 168 Flockingweed to reach maximum Level 90 ascension. Since there are only 74 wild nodes per world, you need multiple farming cycles across several respawn windows, or co-op farming in other players’ worlds, to collect the full amount.
How long does Flockingweed take to respawn in Genshin Impact?
Flockingweed respawns 48 hours after being collected, following the standard Local Specialty respawn cycle. Plan your farming trips every two days to keep a steady supply coming in. If you need more before the respawn, join another player’s world in co-op and ask permission to collect their nodes.
Which characters reveal Flockingweed on the minimap in Genshin Impact?
Both Alyosha and Odette have exploration passives that highlight nearby Snezhnaya Local Specialties — including Flockingweed — on the minimap. Keep either one in your active party during farming runs to see node locations without needing to manually scan the terrain. The highlight is not limited to Flockingweed specifically; it shows all Snezhnaya Local Specialties in range at once.
