How to Get Survivor’s Solitude in Crimson Desert
Survivor’s Solitude is one of the best one-handed swords you can find early in Crimson Desert. It has solid base damage and comes with three pre-installed Abyss Gear slots right out of the chest. Most weapons you find this early have one slot at best. Three slots straight away gives you a head start on building a strong loadout.
The best part? You can go get it the moment you start the game. No quest unlock required, no story gate — just know where to look.
Crimson Desert is available on PC via Steam, Epic Games, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Check the official Crimson Desert website for the latest patch notes and updates.
Survivor’s Solitude Location — Death’s Grip Cave
The sword is inside a chest in Death’s Grip Cave, a waterfall cave located west of the Scholastone Institute.
Here is how to get there step by step:
- Start from the Abyss Nexus near Scholastone.
- Follow the road west until you reach the Confessional’s shack.
- Continue through the woods past the shack.
- You will reach a waterfall. Look up — don’t try to walk through at the bottom.
- Search for a small stone totem pile near the waterfall.
- Use a charged Stab attack from any melee weapon to push through the raging water and enter the cave.
- Inside, you will find a chest surrounded by other valuables. The sword is in that chest.

How to Reach the Cave Entrance
The waterfall entrance requires a bit of height. There are two ways to get up there:
Force Palm — Jump, then use Force Palm to push yourself upward. You can chain this up to three times if your Force Palm skill is fully leveled. This is the most accessible option early on.
Axiom Force — This lets you pull yourself toward a target area. It costs 200 Stamina, so you will need enough Stamina built up before you can use it. If you are still early in the game and short on Stamina, stick with Force Palm for now. Check out our guide on how to get max stamina in Crimson Desert to build it up faster.

Don’t Skip the Bismuth Veins
Before you leave the area, check outside the cave. There are Bismuth veins nearby. Bismuth is an important crafting resource used for upgrading your weapons and armor, so mine them while you are there. It saves you a trip later.

Survivor’s Solitude Stats

| Stat | Value |
|---|---|
| Attack | 17 |
| Critical Rate | 1 |
| Attack Speed | 1 |
| Refinement | 2 |
| Abyss Gear Slots | 3 |
Pre-installed Abyss Gears:
- Attack Speed 1
- Critical Rate 1
- Attack 1
The sword came at Refinement level 2 in our playthrough, and it already had 17 Attack. That is strong for this stage of the game. What really sets it apart is the three Abyss Gear slots. Most early weapons have none or just one. Having three filled slots from the moment you pick it up puts you ahead of the curve.
Why Abyss Gear Slots Matter
In Crimson Desert, Abyss Gear slots often matter more than raw damage numbers — unless a weapon already has very high base damage like the Soul Spear. The right Abyss Gears can take a decent weapon and make it genuinely great.
That said, tinkering with your Abyss Gear loadout is better done later in the game once you have a solid stockpile built up. Early on, just equip what you have and keep moving.
Most Abyss Gears you find early are already socketed into weapons or armor pieces. To move them around, visit a Witch — they can extract Abyss Gears from your items and socket them into new ones. You can find Witches in most regions of the game. See our guide on all witch locations in Crimson Desert to find the nearest one.

Is Survivor’s Solitude Worth Keeping?
Yes — for a long time. If you keep upgrading it, Survivor’s Solitude stays competitive with most one-handed swords you will find later in the game. The three Abyss Gear slots give it flexibility that many higher-level swords lack.
It is one of the stronger choices covered in our Crimson Desert best items early guide and fits well into a strong early build. If you are looking to get better gear overall, see our guide on how to get better equipment in Crimson Desert.
