How to Level Up Life Skills in NTE (Dreamless Seeds Guide)
TL;DR
- Life Skills are non-combat passive bonuses tied to each character in NTE.
- They are upgraded using a material called Dreamless Seeds.
- Each character has 5 Life Skill levels — maxing one character costs 56 Dreamless Seeds total.
- The best free daily source is the Exploration Guide — earn 100 Participation points to get 4 Dreamless Seeds per day.
- You can also buy them from the Fair Exchange (monthly restock) and the Hunter Exchange (unlocks at City Tycoon Level 6).
- Do not dump all seeds into one character early. Spreading Level 1 and Level 2 upgrades across your cafe employees is more efficient.
- Prioritize Life Skills that reduce ingredient consumption and increase Cafe revenue for the fastest Fons income.
Life Skills in Neverness to Everness are one of the most overlooked progression systems in the game. Most new players focus entirely on combat — leveling characters, upgrading Arcs, building teams. But Life Skills quietly affect almost every non-combat system in NTE, from how much your cafe earns to how often you need to restock it.
This guide covers everything you need to know: what Life Skills are, how to upgrade them, where to get Dreamless Seeds, which ones to prioritize, and how to farm seeds efficiently every single day.

What Are Life Skills in NTE?
Life Skills are passive, non-combat abilities that every character in Neverness to Everness has — regardless of their rarity. They are entirely separate from a character’s combat abilities and Esper Cycle skills. They do not make characters hit harder or survive longer in battle. Instead, they improve how efficiently you progress through NTE’s open-world systems outside of combat.
Depending on the character, Life Skills can do things like:
- Increase Cafe revenue from specific dish types (Main Dishes, Beverages, etc.)
- Reduce ingredient consumption rate in The Cafe by Origen
- Increase customer traffic to your cafe stores
- Reduce vehicle repair costs
- Grant free daily deliveries or Modules
- Boost Bond gain speed on other characters (Esper Zero’s Life Skill does this)
- Improve performance in minigames like Owner’s Selection
Life Skills are tied to individual characters. A character only uses their Life Skill when they are actively assigned as an employee to one of your cafe stores in City Tycoon. If a character is not assigned anywhere, their Life Skill does nothing passively. This means choosing which characters to hire — and which Life Skills to upgrade — is an important decision.
To get the most out of your cafe income, read our full NTE cafe ownership and management guide and our City Tycoon guide to understand how the entire passive income loop works.
What Are Dreamless Seeds in NTE?
Dreamless Seeds are the upgrade material used to level up Life Skills. They are a B-Rank consumable item and the only way to increase a character’s Life Skill level. You cannot upgrade Life Skills with Fons, Annulith, or any other currency — it is always Dreamless Seeds.
Every character in the game uses the same Dreamless Seed cost for each Life Skill level. The cost does not change based on character rarity or which character you are upgrading.

Life Skill Levels and Dreamless Seed Costs in NTE
There are 5 levels to every Life Skill in NTE. The cost increases with each level, and the total to fully max one character’s Life Skills is 56 Dreamless Seeds. Here is the cost breakdown per level:
- Level 1 to 2: 2 Dreamless Seeds
- Level 2 to 3: 4 Dreamless Seeds
- Level 3 to 4: 10 Dreamless Seeds
- Level 4 to 5: 20 Dreamless Seeds
- Total to max (Level 1 to 5): 56 Dreamless Seeds
The cost goes up significantly from Level 3 onward. This is why most guides recommend reaching Level 2 across multiple characters before pushing a single character to Level 5. You get more overall team benefit from having four employees at Level 2 than one employee at Level 5.
How to Level Up Life Skills in NTE — Step by Step
There are two ways to access the Life Skill upgrade screen in NTE.
Method 1: Through the Character Menu
- Open your in-game phone and go to the Character menu.
- Select the character whose Life Skill you want to upgrade.
- Go to the Esper Ability tab.
- Click the Life Skills icon on the left side of the screen.
- Press Level Up at the bottom right of the screen.
- If you have enough Dreamless Seeds, the Life Skill will upgrade immediately.
Method 2: Through City Tycoon and The Cafe
- Open City Tycoon and navigate to The Cafe by Origen.
- Click on the Employee option inside the cafe.
- Select the character whose Life Skill you want to upgrade.
- Press the Level Up button to complete the upgrade.
Both methods work identically. The City Tycoon route is slightly faster if you are already managing your cafes. The Character menu route is easier if you want to check a character’s current Life Skill level before deciding.
How to Get Dreamless Seeds in NTE — All Sources

1. Daily Activity — Exploration Guide (Best Free Daily Source)
This is the most reliable and completely free way to earn Dreamless Seeds every single day. Open the Exploration Guide from your in-game phone, then go to the Daily Activity tab. Complete daily tasks until you accumulate 100 Participation points. Once you hit 100 points, you will receive 4 Dreamless Seeds as a reward.
This resets every day at server reset, meaning you can earn at least 4 Dreamless Seeds daily just by doing your normal daily routine. Over a month, that adds up to roughly 120 seeds — enough to max two full characters or spread Level 1 and 2 upgrades across a large group of cafe employees.
To stay consistent with your daily farming, follow our NTE daily and weekly routine guide so you never miss a reset. You can also check the NTE server reset time to know exactly when your daily rewards refresh.

2. Fair Exchange — Monthly Shop (Lost Pieces)
You can purchase 10 Dreamless Seeds from the Fair Exchange tab inside the Mall. Each one costs 15 Lost Pieces. The stock here restocks every 30 days, not daily, so this is a monthly top-up rather than a daily source.
Lost Pieces are earned naturally from pulling on the Standard or Limited Boards (gacha banners). Every B-Class Arc you receive from the gacha converts into 20 Lost Pieces, so the more you pull, the more Lost Pieces you accumulate passively. To understand how the gacha system and pulling works in detail, read our NTE pity and gacha system guide.

3. Hunter Exchange — Bulk Source (Fons, City Tycoon Locked)
The Hunter Exchange tab in the Mall sells 100 Dreamless Seeds for 6,000 Fons each. This is the largest single-purchase source in the game, but it comes with a catch — the Hunter Exchange is locked behind City Tycoon progression. It unlocks at City Tycoon Level 6, and the full purchase limit expands at higher Tycoon levels.
Once you have the Hunter Exchange unlocked, this becomes your go-to source for bulk Dreamless Seed purchasing when you need to push a character’s Life Skill higher quickly. Fons are the primary currency you earn from running your cafes, so the faster your cafe empire grows, the more Dreamless Seeds you can afford from here.
To farm Fons efficiently, check out our guide on how to get Fons fast in NTE.
4. Management Guide Rewards
As you progress through the cafe management tutorial objectives inside City Tycoon, you will earn Dreamless Seeds as one-time milestone rewards. These are not repeatable, but they give you a useful early boost when you are first setting up your cafes. Complete these tutorial objectives as early as possible so you can invest the seeds right away.
Which Life Skills Should You Upgrade First in NTE?
This depends on your current cafe setup, but here are the general priorities that work for most players:
Priority 1 — Ingredient Consumption Reduction
The single most impactful Life Skill type early on is anything that reduces ingredient consumption rate in your cafe. When a cafe runs out of ingredients, it stops earning Fons. Every percentage point of reduced consumption extends how long your cafe operates between restocks — which means fewer trips back to the shop, less time wasted, and more passive income while you are offline or busy in combat.
Characters like Nanally, Daffodil, Skia, and Baicang all have Life Skills that include ingredient consumption reduction. Upgrading these to at least Level 2 across your cafes should be your first goal.
Priority 2 — Cafe Revenue and Customer Traffic
After ingredient reduction is sorted, upgrade Life Skills that directly boost Fons income — skills that increase dish prices for specific food types, raise customer traffic numbers, or boost hourly Fons rates. These compound over time and are especially valuable as you open more cafe branches.
Priority 3 — Esper Zero’s Life Skill (Bond Gain)
If you are working on maxing Bond levels with your characters, Esper Zero’s maxed Life Skill is worth investing in. It increases Bond gain speed on other characters, which helps you reach Bond milestones faster. This is especially useful if you are trying to unlock stat boosts or in-game achievements tied to Bond progression. To learn more about the Bond system, see our guide on how to increase Bond fast in NTE and our guide on best gifts for maxing Bond in NTE.
Priority 4 — Hathor’s Life Skill (Free Daily Module)
If you have Hathor, her Life Skill is worth upgrading for long-term resource gains. At Life Skill Level 5, she gives you one free City Delivery per day plus extra delivery points and customer traffic. She also unlocks the Hamster Ball item (via the Eden Apartment) which gives a free Module daily. Over weeks and months, this adds up to a significant pile of upgrade materials. See our Hathor build guide for more details on her full kit and Life Skill value.
Should You Focus One Character or Spread Seeds Across Multiple?
Spread them — especially early on. The cost of upgrading Life Skills increases sharply from Level 3 upward. Getting four cafe employees to Level 2 costs just 8 Dreamless Seeds total and immediately gives you better ingredient reduction and income bonuses across all your stores. Pushing a single character from Level 1 to Level 5 costs 56 seeds and only improves one store.
The smart early approach is to get all active cafe employees to Level 2 first, then Level 3, before pushing anyone to the higher levels. Once you have a stable daily income of Dreamless Seeds from the Exploration Guide and the Hunter Exchange, you can start maxing priority characters one at a time.
Notable Life Skills by Character in NTE
- Nanally — Family Business: Increases Main Dish prices and reduces ingredient consumption. In Owner’s Selection, hitting customers with the hammer grants 115% of the current dish price. Excellent for high-value menu setups.
- Daffodil — The Art of Hospitality: Increases customer traffic by up to 27 at max level and reduces ingredient consumption. Makes customers more likely to order the highest-priced dishes during Owner’s Selection.
- Skia — Middle Manager: Increases customer traffic and reduces ingredient consumption. Boosts customer patience by 50% during Owner’s Selection, giving you more time per order.
- Baicang — Thriving Daily: Increases customer traffic and reduces ingredient consumption. Solid general-purpose cafe employee.
- Hathor: Provides free City Delivery daily at Level 5 and unlocks the Hamster Ball for a free Module per day when paired with the Eden Apartment.
- Esper Zero: Life Skill increases Bond gain speed on other characters when maxed. A top priority if you care about the Bond progression system.

Life Skills and City Tycoon — Why They Work Together
Life Skills and City Tycoon are deeply connected. The better your Life Skills, the more Fons your cafes generate. The more Fons you have, the more Dreamless Seeds you can buy from the Hunter Exchange. The more Dreamless Seeds you have, the higher you can push your Life Skills. It is a reinforcing loop.
This is why progressing through City Tycoon levels matters even for players who mainly care about combat. Unlocking higher City Tycoon levels expands your Hunter Exchange purchase limits, which directly speeds up Life Skill progression. Our City Tycoon guide walks through how to progress through Tycoon levels efficiently.

Quick Tips for Dreamless Seed Farming in NTE
- Do your dailies every day. The 4 Dreamless Seeds from Exploration Guide Participation is your most reliable free income. Missing even a week of dailies costs you 28 seeds.
- Check the Fair Exchange monthly. The 10-seed monthly restock from Lost Pieces is easy to miss if you forget to visit the shop. Set a reminder at the start of each month.
- Progress City Tycoon as early as possible. Reaching Tycoon Level 6 unlocks the Hunter Exchange and opens the bulk seed purchase option. This is one of the biggest Life Skill farming milestones in the game.
- Do not rush Level 4 and 5. The cost spike at higher levels is steep. Get broad coverage at Level 2 before narrowing focus on any single character.
- Use Character Trials to test Life Skills before committing. You can check what a character’s Life Skill does before spending seeds on them. Our Character Trials guide shows you how.
- Grab all redeem codes. Active codes sometimes reward Dreamless Seeds or the Fons needed to buy them. Check our NTE redeem codes page regularly.
Life Skills vs Combat Skills — What Should You Upgrade First?
Early game, combat skills and character leveling should come first. Getting your main team strong enough to clear story content and Anomaly Zones is the priority. Life Skills do not help you in combat at all, and falling behind on Hunter Level will slow down everything else.
Once your main team is built and you are doing your combat upgrades consistently, start investing Dreamless Seeds into Life Skills in parallel. The Exploration Guide gives you 4 seeds a day for free, so you should be building up a stockpile naturally even if you are not actively spending them yet.

Final Thoughts
Life Skills are one of the most underrated long-term systems in NTE. They will not make your characters stronger in battle, but they will make your entire game loop smoother, faster, and more profitable over time. The sooner you start building a daily Dreamless Seed habit — through Exploration Guide dailies, monthly Fair Exchange purchases, and City Tycoon progression — the better your cafe income and passive resource generation will be down the road.
Start broad. Get multiple employees to Level 2. Then go deep on the characters whose Life Skills matter most to your playstyle.
