Hunter Level is one of the first things new players in Neverness to Everness should focus on. It controls how much of the game you can access, how strong your characters can get, and when the proper farming loop unlocks. This guide covers every EXP source in the game and the fastest way to push your Hunter Level up from day one.
What Is Hunter Level in NTE?
Hunter Level is your account-wide progression stat. Think of it like a world level system. As your Hunter Level goes up, you unlock new Episodes, Spinoff quests, city features, and higher-difficulty content across Hethereau.
Hunter Level is also directly tied to your Appraisal Level, which functions as the game’s world difficulty tier. A higher Appraisal Level increases both enemy strength and the quality of rewards you earn from Anomaly Zones. It also raises the level cap for your characters and their Arcs.
Most importantly, the proper Cartridge and Console farming loop does not unlock until Hunter Level 30. Getting there fast should be your top priority as a new player.
Hunter EXP is shown as shining blue diamond icons in the game. You earn it from almost every activity — but some sources give far more than others.
How to Increase Hunter Level Fast in NTE
1. Complete Main Quests (Episode and Spinoff Missions)

This is the single fastest way to gain Hunter EXP in the game. Main quests — called Episode Quests and Spinoff Quests — give massive chunks of EXP per completion, ranging from a few hundred all the way up to 2000 Hunter EXP per quest.
Beyond the EXP, main quests unlock new areas of the map, new characters, and new game features. Always prioritize these first before spending time on anything else.
Some Spinoff quests have Hunter Level requirements before you can start them. For example, the Spinoff Pawn Moonlight requires Hunter Level 9, and Where Words Sprout, Fall Unfolds requires Hunter Level 15. Each of these awards 2000 Hunter EXP alongside Annulith and other materials. Work through them as soon as you meet the requirements.
Side quests also contribute. Simple side missions reward around 300 to 400 Hunter EXP each and take very little time to finish. Do not skip them while you are in the area.
2. Complete Daily Quests Every Day
Daily Quests are one of the most consistent EXP sources in NTE. Completing them fully can earn you up to 1500 Hunter EXP per day. The tasks are simple — things like logging in, completing a City Commission, or spending Character Pixels. Most take only a few minutes.
These reset every 24 hours. Make them part of your daily routine and you will gain a steady stream of EXP without putting in much effort. Check our NTE daily and weekly routine guide for a full breakdown of what to do every day.
3. Spend All Your Character Pixels Daily
Character Pixels are NTE’s stamina currency. Every time you spend them to claim rewards from Anomaly encounters — such as farming Cartridges, Modules, character EXP materials, or Arc ascension materials — you also earn Hunter EXP as a side benefit.
If you exhaust your Character Pixels every day before logging off, you can earn around 1200 extra Hunter EXP per day just from this habit alone. Do not let them sit capped while you are away from the game.
To learn more about what to farm with your Pixels, check the guide on how to get Cartridges and Modules in NTE.
4. Raise Your City Tycoon Level
City Tycoon is one of NTE’s core city progression systems and it rewards Hunter EXP every time you level it up. Your Tycoon Level rises as you earn Fons and complete Tycoon objectives around Hethereau.
Raising your Tycoon Level also unlocks new city features — including apartments, race challenges, and the free S-rank character Chiz at Tycoon Level 18. The EXP gains stack up quickly if you are actively engaging with the city.
Read the full City Tycoon guide and the Hethereau Hobbies guide to maximize how fast you earn Fons and push Tycoon ranks. Also check our guide on how to get Fons fast in NTE.
5. Clear Anomaly Zones
Anomaly Zones are the game’s combat challenge areas. Clearing them gives Hunter EXP directly, and spending Character Pixels on their rewards gives even more EXP on top of that. World Bosses inside Anomaly Zones tend to give higher rewards than standard encounters.
Make Anomaly Zones part of your daily rotation — both for the Hunter EXP and for the farming materials you will need to build your characters. The Anomaly Zones guide covers all the zone types and how to approach them efficiently.
6. Complete Exploration Guide Tasks

The Exploration Guide is a section in the game’s menu that lists passive achievement-style tasks. These include things like unlocking ReroRero Phone Booths, discovering new areas, completing certain dungeons, and more. Each task rewards Hunter EXP on completion.
These are worth checking regularly. Many of them complete naturally as you explore and play, so you will often find EXP rewards waiting to be claimed without any extra effort. There are also EXP and Beetle Coins rewards listed under this section for completing specific dungeon runs.
7. Collect Gifts from 21

Gifts from 21 are collectible items scattered across Hethereau’s five city districts — similar to chests in other open-world games. NTE launched with 79 of these collectibles across the map. Each one gives Hunter EXP when collected.
Picking them up as you explore is a passive but effective way to stack extra EXP over time. They are also tied to achievements, so there is more than one reason to track them down.
8. Complete Commission Quests
Commission quests are side assignments available around the city. These include both standard commissions and Anomaly Commission missions, which tend to give higher rewards. They each award Hunter EXP on top of Annulith and other materials.
Here are some commissions worth completing for EXP and rewards:
- Let’s Go See a Movie commission guide
- The Book of Post Adolescence commission guide
- Call of the Lost commission guide
- Deep Blue Sorrow commission guide
- Heaven’s Forsaken Anomaly commission guide

What Is the Hunter Level Limit Ascension?
Hunter Level has a soft cap that prevents you from leveling past a certain point until you complete an Ascension Quest. This is intentional — it stops players from over-leveling before they are ready for harder content.
Here is how it works:
- At Hunter Level 20, the game automatically gives you the Hunter Level Limit Ascension: Part One quest.
- You must travel to Houdinii’s Magic Stage (between Iris Bridge and Green Wall Slope) and complete the Hunter Ascension 1 Anomaly Zone.
- The zone has two rounds of Level 36 Oddity enemies. They are not difficult and should not slow you down.
- Completing this quest raises your Appraisal Level to 2 and increases your character and Arc ascension limits to Level 40.
- The reward for completing it is 3 Fabricated Dice.
Further Ascension quests unlock at higher Hunter Levels. Each one raises your Appraisal Level further and increases the cap on how strong your characters can become. Do not ignore these — they are gating your character power, not just your world level.
Once you raise your Appraisal Level, always check your character pages to see what new upgrades are available. Read the Awakening system guide to make the most of each level increase.
Hunter Level and Appraisal Level — What Is the Difference?
New players often confuse these two. Here is a simple breakdown:
- Hunter Level — your account XP level. Earned through quests, dailies, exploration, and combat. Unlocks story content, city features, and Spinoff quests.
- Appraisal Level — your world difficulty tier. Raised by completing Hunter Level Ascension quests. Controls enemy difficulty, reward quality, and your character and Arc level caps.
You need both to progress efficiently. Hunter Level gets you to the Ascension quest gate. Appraisal Level is what actually raises the ceiling on your character power. Always complete Ascension quests as soon as they become available.
How Hunter Level Affects Your Characters
Your Hunter Level and Appraisal Level directly determine how far you can develop each character. When your Appraisal Level goes up, the maximum level cap for your characters and their Arcs also increases. This gives your Espers access to new Support Skills and higher stat ceilings.
This is why rushing Hunter Level early matters so much. If your Hunter Level is low, your characters are capped at weaker stats regardless of how many resources you pour into them. Push Hunter Level first, then invest in character upgrades.

Final Thoughts on Leveling Hunter Level in NTE
Hunter Level is not something you grind in one sitting. It builds steadily through consistent daily play. The players who level fastest are the ones who do their dailies, spend their Character Pixels, and push main story quests every session.
Set your priority as Hunter Level 30. Get there by following the routine in this guide. Once you cross that threshold, the full farming loop opens up and everything else in the game becomes much smoother.
Stay active, explore the city, and keep your Esper teams strong. Hethereau rewards the consistent players.
