How to Open the Bioweapon Repository 11 Door in RE9 (Resident Evil Requiem)

Learn how to open the Bioweapon Repository 11 door in RE9. Find the Override Key in Systems Management, navigate Bioweapon Repository 12, and unlock the elevator in Resident Evil Requiem.

TL;DR

  • The Bioweapon Repository 11 door is Leon’s section — it requires the Override Key (Bioweapon Repository 11) to open.
  • The Override Key is found in the Systems Management room on Basement 4.
  • To reach it, you must go through Bioweapon Repository 12 and hit two consoles to unlock the path.
  • When you return to BR11 with the key, expect Lickers on the ceiling — use red gas canisters to blow them up fast.
  • After clearing the enemies and using the Override Key, the elevator unlocks and you can proceed to the Central Refining System.

After Grace wraps up her section of the ARK, the game switches back to Leon. His task is the same — reach the Central Refining System — but his route is completely different. When Leon arrives at Bioweapon Repository 11, the elevator is locked behind a control panel that needs an Override Key he does not have yet.

This guide covers exactly how to get the Override Key, how to navigate through Bioweapon Repository 12, and how to deal with the enemies that come once you use it.

Where Is Bioweapon Repository 11 in RE9?

After Grace uses the Override Key to remove the machinery blocking Leon’s way in the Dump, Leon climbs a ladder to leave. From there, it is a fairly linear route to find Bioweapon Repository 11. There is an elevator in here, but it needs an Override Key to activate — which is found in the adjacent Bioweapon Repository 12.

Before heading into BR12, check the B4 Floor Plan on the wall above the terminal in Bioweapon Repository 11. It has a marked location showing where the Systems Management room is , which is where the Override Key ends up after you unlock the path through BR12. This gives you a rough layout of the area so you know where you are heading.

Save at the Backroom typewriter before pushing forward. Things get heavier from here and you want a fresh save before the fight that follows.

Step 1 — Get to Bioweapon Repository 12

From Bioweapon Repository 11, head into the adjacent Bioweapon Repository 12. You will start on the upper balcony of the room and must make your way around and drop down. There are two switches in this room you must hit, but there are a lot of Lickers.

Move carefully. Lickers are blind, so crouching and moving slowly will let you avoid most of them if you are low on supplies. If you have Bottles of Acid, use them — they one-shot Lickers and are the most efficient tool in this section.

Step 2 — Hit Both Consoles in Bioweapon Repository 12

There are two consoles you need to activate in BR12 to open the path forward.

  • First console: The first switch drops down some pods, opening a path directly in front of you to the next room. Find the first red-light console in the north area of the room and interact with it.
  • Second console: Enter the room ahead — but beware of Lickers inside. You will find another console to activate. Do just that. This second switch opens a path to some stairs leading upward.

Take your time between each console. Do not rush past enemies without knowing where they are — Lickers on the ceiling can drop on you without warning if you make noise.

Step 3 — Reach the Generator Room and Systems Management

The Systems Management room is located on Basement 4. The room is locked from the inside. You have to go through Bioweapon Repository 12 and unlock the path to the Generator Room. Inside the Generator Room, you can unlock the path to Systems Management.

Navigate past the obstacles in Bioweapon Repository 12 to find the control panel in the north. Activating this control panel reveals a door, so press forward into the Generator Room, where you can find another panel which moves the obstacles out of the way.

Head down the newly opened corridor and go up the stairs. Pick up the Override Key (Bioweapon Repository 11). It is sitting in Systems Management, waiting at the top of those stairs. Grab it and prepare to head back.

Step 4 — Return to Bioweapon Repository 11 and Use the Override Key

With the Override Key in hand, backtrack to Bioweapon Repository 11. This is where things get dangerous.

Make your way back to Bioweapon Repository 11 — but beware the dozen Lickers waiting on the ceiling. To deal with them, lure them from the ceiling by making a noise, then shoot the red gas canisters to blow them up. With all the Lickers dead, place the Override Key into the Control Panel in Bioweapon Repository 11.

This is the most efficient method. The red gas canisters scattered around the room explode on impact and can wipe out clusters of Lickers in one shot. Throw an empty bottle first to get their attention, then shoot the nearest canister when they drop from the ceiling and group together.

What Happens After You Use the Override Key

Using the Override Key on the control panel triggers a fight sequence. The room does not instantly become safe.

After using the key on the red console, zombies will break out of the tanks around the room. You need to deal with them before the elevator becomes available. On higher difficulties, the Licker situation is handled differently — on Insanity difficulty, the Lickers will start dropping into the room after you use the key, so you will need to deal with them first.

You need to fight waves of Lickers and zombies until the lift appears to take you up. Upon reaching the top, follow the linear path forward and head over to the second lift towards the Central Refining System, which starts another cutscene.

Stay near the console with your back to the wall. Most enemies will funnel toward you from opposite sides of the room, which makes controlling them much easier. Shotgun blasts and grenades are the most effective tools for the zombie wave that breaks out of the tanks.

Tips for Getting Through This Section

  • Save before entering BR12. There is a typewriter in the Backroom just before this section. Use it. The fights ahead are dense with enemies and the stakes are high in the late game.
  • Craft Bottles of Acid if you can. They instantly kill any Licker. Going into Bioweapon Repository 12 with two or three acid bottles makes the whole section much smoother.
  • Use the red gas canisters. When you return to BR11 with the Override Key and face the ceiling full of Lickers, these are your best tool. One shot on a canister near a group of Lickers clears them fast.
  • Lickers are blind — go slow if you are low on resources. If you do not have enough ammo or acid bottles, crouch and move slowly. Avoid broken glass on the floor. You can sneak past most of them.
  • Do not waste ammo on zombies in the tanks. When the tanks crack open after using the Override Key, use grenades or shotgun blasts. These enemies come out in groups and single shots are inefficient here.
  • Stock up on ammo before heading back. After clearing BR12 and grabbing the Override Key, check the area around the Generator Room and Systems Management for any remaining items before backtracking. The fight back in BR11 rewards preparation.

Point of No Return Warning

After using the elevator in Bioweapon Repository 11 and progressing toward the Central Refining System, the story moves into its final sequence. Make sure you have grabbed everything you need — collectibles, files, and items — before riding that elevator up.

If you still need to open the Recessed Panel as Grace or check the Monitor Control Room safe, those are already locked off by the time Leon reaches BR11. But if there is anything remaining in Leon’s accessible areas, handle it before the elevator ride. See our guide on how to open the Recessed Panel in RE9 for full context on what Grace does before this section begins.
