Who Is Mika in Genshin Impact?
Mika is a 4-star Cryo Polearm character from Mondstadt, introduced in Genshin Impact Version 3.5. His full name is Mika Schmidt, and he serves as the Front-Line Surveyor of the Knights of Favonius Reconnaissance Company — the same company led by Eula. He is also the younger brother of Huffman, another Knights of Favonius member.
Lore-wise, Mika is a quietly dedicated and hardworking young knight. He diligently completes every task assigned to him — setting up camp, repairing equipment, cooking, and surveying terrain — and his efficiency has earned him nothing but praise from logistics captain Hertha. His true passion is cartography: he dreams of one day becoming an expert mapmaker who has charted every corner of Teyvat. He is naturally shy around unfamiliar people but warms up quickly to those he trusts, valuing teamwork deeply.
In combat, Mika fills a specialized role. He is a healer who doubles as a Physical DMG support, providing ATK SPD buffs and Physical DMG Bonus to the on-field character through a stack mechanic called Detector. He is one of the few characters in the game who can buff Physical damage directly, making him the go-to support for Physical DPS characters — especially Eula. You can play him on Android, iOS, PlayStation, Epic Games, and Xbox.
If you are building Mika for his best team, check out the Eula character guide — she is his signature partner and benefits more from his kit than any other character in the game. You may also want to look at the Rosaria character guide for another strong Cryo teammate to pair alongside them.

Mika Skills and Abilities
Normal Attack – Spear of Favonius — Arrow’s Passage
Mika performs up to 5 consecutive spear and crossbow strikes, alternating between melee polearm hits and ranged crossbow shots dealing Physical DMG. His Charged Attack consumes stamina to lunge forward and deal Physical DMG. He also has a standard plunging attack. Normal attacks are not relevant for Mika’s support role and should be ignored during gameplay.
Elemental Skill – Starfrost Swirl
This is Mika’s most important ability. It has two modes:
Tap: Mika swiftly fires a Flowfrost Arrow forward that can pierce through enemies, dealing Cryo DMG. It hits multiple targets in a line.
Hold: Mika takes aim and fires a Rimestar Flare at a targeted enemy. On impact, it splits into multiple Rimestar Shards that launch outward and strike additional nearby enemies, dealing Cryo DMG.
Regardless of which mode is used, after casting Starfrost Swirl, Mika grants all active party members the Soulwind state. While Soulwind is active:
- The on-field character’s ATK SPD is increased. The amount scales with Mika’s Skill talent level.
- Whenever the on-field character’s Normal Attack hits an enemy, they gain 1 Detector stack. Each Detector stack increases the character’s Physical DMG Bonus.
- At base (C0), the Soulwind state can hold a maximum of 3 Detector stacks, providing up to a significant Physical DMG Bonus boost.
Soulwind applies only to the on-field (active) character. When you switch characters, the new active character inherits the Soulwind state and benefits from its buffs as well. The ATK SPD bonus and Detector stacks are both very valuable for Physical DPS characters who rely heavily on Normal Attacks, especially Eula.
Elemental Burst – Skyfeather Song
Mika’s Burst inspires the team with a rousing performance, providing two types of healing:
- On cast: Instantly restores HP to all party members based on Mika’s Max HP and Healing Bonus.
- Eagleplume state: After the Burst, Mika enters Eagleplume for the duration. While in this state, whenever the active character’s Normal Attacks hit an enemy, Mika heals that character for a portion of his Max HP. This healing occurs at intervals and keeps the on-field DPS topped up throughout their damage window.
Additionally, using the Burst grants the on-field character an additional Detector stack on top of what they already have from the Skill, helping push Physical DMG Bonus higher more quickly. The Burst’s instant team-wide heal also makes Mika a strong choice for Furina teams, where HP fluctuations from Furina’s Salon Members need to be continuously restored to generate Fanfare stacks.
Mika Passive Talents
A1 Passive – Suppressive Barrage
This passive adds two improvements to the Soulwind state. First, the maximum number of Detector stacks the active character can hold increases from 3 to 4. Second, while in Soulwind, the active character will gain a Detector stack when their Normal Attacks score a CRIT Hit — in addition to gaining one from any Normal Attack hit. This speeds up how quickly Detector stacks build up significantly. A Physical DPS with a decent CRIT Rate can reach the stack cap much faster with this passive than without it, and a higher overall cap means more sustained Physical DMG Bonus.
A4 Passive – Topographical Mapping
When Mika is in the Eagleplume state (from his Burst), he will heal the on-field character for an additional amount whenever their Normal Attack hits an enemy during Crit hits. This passive stacks on top of the Eagleplume healing from the Burst, increasing Mika’s healing output during his Burst window. This makes him a more self-sufficient healer who does not need teammates to proc additional healing conditions — the on-field DPS’s own attacks continuously top them up.
Utility Passive – Demarcation
Mika decreases the amount of Stamina consumed by your own party members when climbing by 10%. This is a minor exploration passive but genuinely useful for climbing the mountains and tall terrain that are common throughout Mondstadt and other regions.
Mika Constellations Guide
Mika’s constellations are a mixed bag. C4 and C6 are the most impactful, with C6 being the standout upgrade that defines his use in serious Physical teams.
C1 – Buried Star
When Mika is in the Eagleplume state, the healing provided to the active character when their Normal Attacks hit an enemy increases based on whether that character’s current HP is above or below 60%: above 60% HP, they receive less healing per hit; below 60%, they receive significantly more healing. This is a survival-focused constellation that provides emergency healing during low-HP situations.
C2 – Celestial Dome of Sand
When the active character affected by Soulwind triggers a CRIT Hit with their Normal Attack, all other characters in the party also gain healing. This spreads the Eagleplume healing to off-field characters who are not the current active DPS. Useful for keeping the whole team healthy without needing additional healers.
C3 – Skill Level Upgrade
Increases the Level of Starfrost Swirl (Elemental Skill) by 3, up to a maximum of Level 15. This raises Mika’s ATK SPD buff by 3%, which is noticeable for comfort but does not change his Physical DMG% buff — that is a flat value unaffected by Skill talent levels.
C4 – Sunfrost Encomium
When Mika’s Skyfeather Song (Burst) heals a party member, the Burst’s Energy cost is effectively reduced from 70 to 55. This is a significant and practical constellation. Mika’s high Energy cost is one of his main pain points, especially since he tends to funnel Cryo particles to his DPS partner (like Eula) rather than absorbing them for himself. C4 meaningfully reduces how much Energy Recharge Mika needs to build, freeing up stat slots for more HP% or Healing Bonus. C4 is highly recommended as a quality-of-life stopping point for players who want Mika to reliably use his Burst every rotation.
C5 – Burst Level Upgrade
Increases the Level of Skyfeather Song (Elemental Burst) by 3, up to a maximum of Level 15. Raises the HP scaling on his instant team-wide heal and Eagleplume healing per hit.
C6 – Companion’s Counsel
This is Mika’s best constellation by a very large margin. The maximum number of Detector stacks that Soulwind can accumulate increases by 1 (requires A1 passive to be unlocked first, raising the cap from 4 to 5). More importantly: while the active character is affected by Soulwind, they deal 60% more Physical CRIT DMG. This is an enormous buff — Physical CRIT DMG is a multiplicative multiplier on top of base damage. Combined with Mika’s existing Physical DMG% bonus from Detector stacks and ATK SPD buff, C6 makes him dramatically more valuable in Physical teams. For players committed to running Physical DPS characters like Eula, C6 Mika is a transformative upgrade. It is generally recommended to either go all the way to C6 or stay at C0–C4 for Physical teams — the middle constellations (C1–C3) are minor improvements that do not change the team’s damage ceiling meaningfully.
Mika Best Build – Artifacts
Mika is built as a healer-support. His healing scales on HP, and his buffs (ATK SPD and Physical DMG%) are fixed values attached to his kit rather than scaling from his stats. This means the main goal of his artifact build is maximizing HP for stronger heals and reaching enough Energy Recharge to use his Burst every rotation.
Best Artifact Set – 4-Piece Noblesse Oblige
This is Mika’s best general-purpose artifact set. The 4-piece bonus increases all party members’ ATK by 20% for 12 seconds after Mika uses his Elemental Burst. Since his Burst is used regularly in rotation, this ATK buff has excellent uptime and meaningfully boosts his DPS partner’s damage. Make sure no other team member is already wearing Noblesse Oblige — only one copy of the 4-piece bonus applies at a time.
Alternative – 4-Piece Ocean-Hued Clam
A healing-focused set that converts a portion of healing into a Sea-Dyed Foam bubble that deals Physical DMG when it pops. In teams where another character is already holding Noblesse Oblige (such as Bennett), Ocean-Hued Clam lets Mika deal meaningful damage through his healing output rather than providing a duplicate ATK buff. It can deal surprisingly good damage in teams with high healing output. Build HP% on all main stats to maximize both the healing and the Clam procs.
Alternative – 4-Piece Maiden Beloved
A pure healing set that increases healing effectiveness and grants additional Incoming Healing Bonus to the team after using the Skill or Burst. Best used in teams where additional DMG is not needed and pure survival is the priority — such as difficult Abyss floors where the DPS needs constant top-ups to avoid dying.
Alternative – 2-Piece Mix
Combine 2-piece Tenacity of the Millelith (HP+) and 2-piece Maiden Beloved or 2-piece Ocean-Hued Clam (Healing Bonus) as a transitional build while farming the above full sets.
Artifact Main Stats
- Sands: Energy Recharge% (primary choice until ER threshold is met) or HP%
- Goblet: HP%
- Circlet: Healing Bonus or HP%
If using Favonius Lance as his weapon, consider a CRIT Rate Circlet instead to reliably trigger Favonius Lance’s particle generation passive. CRIT Rate helps Mika proc the lance passive consistently, which generates Energy particles for the whole team.
Artifact Substats Priority
HP% > Energy Recharge > CRIT Rate (if using Favonius Lance) > Flat HP. Mika needs enough ER to use his Burst every rotation — roughly 180–220% at C0, reduced to around 160–180% at C4. In teams with a second Cryo character providing particles (such as Rosaria), requirements drop further. Do not build ATK or CRIT DMG on Mika — his buffs are flat values that do not scale from his personal offensive stats.
Mika Best Weapons
1. Symphonist of Scents (5-Star) – Best for Healing
Mika’s premium weapon choice when healing output is the priority. It provides massive HP% bonuses and a healing-focused passive, making Mika’s Burst and Eagleplume heals significantly stronger. The downside is that reaching Energy Recharge thresholds becomes harder without Favonius Lance’s ER substat — so this weapon is best used with C4 (which lowers ER costs) or in teams with good Electro energy support. In Furina teams where healing needs to be high and frequent, this weapon is the top pick.
2. Favonius Lance (4-Star) – Best for Utility and ER
Favonius Lance is Mika’s best-in-slot weapon for most teams. It provides Energy Recharge as a substat and generates additional Elemental Particles on CRIT hits. These extra particles benefit not just Mika but the whole team — especially Eula, who has high Energy costs. A CRIT Rate substat from artifacts (or the Circlet) helps Mika reliably trigger the passive. This is the recommended choice for C0 players or anyone who has not yet reached C4.
3. Engulfing Lightning (5-Star)
Provides Energy Recharge and converts ER into bonus ATK. While Mika does not care about his own ATK, the massive ER substat fully solves his energy problems, freeing up all artifact substats for HP%. A strong pick if you have it and are not using it on a higher-priority character.
4. Skyward Spine (5-Star)
Provides Energy Recharge and a passive that increases Normal Attack speed and occasionally fires a vacuum blade on hit. The ER substat helps Mika keep his Burst on cooldown and the ATK SPD is a minor bonus. A solid premium option.
5. Prototype Starglitter (4-Star, Craftable)
A craftable 4-star polearm with Energy Recharge as its substat and a passive that increases Normal and Charged Attack DMG after using the Elemental Skill. The DMG bonus is irrelevant for a support, but the ER substat is exactly what Mika needs. This is the best free craftable option and should be forged at the Blacksmith if you do not have Favonius Lance.
6. Black Tassel (3-Star)
An HP% polearm that is easily accessible. The passive reduces DMG from slimes, which is useless, but the HP substat directly improves Mika’s healing. Use this as a temporary budget option if no better polearms are available.
Mika Best Teams
Mika fits into two main roles: Physical DMG support for characters like Eula and Razor, and off-field healer for Furina teams where his consistent HP restoration generates Fanfare stacks quickly. He is a niche support, but within his niches he is excellent. You can check out the Eula character guide and the Raiden Shogun character guide for more about the characters who pair best with Mika.
Eula Hypercarry Team – Best Team (Premium)
- Main DPS: Eula
- Electro Battery/Support: Raiden Shogun
- Support: Mika (Physical DMG buff + ATK SPD + healing)
- Support: Yun Jin or Rosaria
This is Mika’s defining team. Eula is a Physical DPS who deals the majority of her damage in a single Lightfall Sword detonation that scales with stacks built through Normal Attacks. Mika’s ATK SPD boost allows Eula to perform more Normal Attacks in the same window, building more Lightfall Sword stacks and dealing more damage. His Physical DMG% bonus from Detector stacks and C6’s 60% Physical CRIT DMG buff are both directly applied to Eula’s Burst detonation. Raiden Shogun provides consistent Electro application for Superconduct, which reduces enemy Physical RES, and also batteries the team’s Burst costs. Yun Jin adds Normal Attack DMG bonuses that stack on top of everything. This is one of the highest-damage Physical teams in the game with the right investment.
Eula Superconduct Team – F2P Friendly
For players without Raiden Shogun, Fischl is the best free Electro option. She provides consistent off-field Electro application from Oz for Superconduct and decent Sub-DPS damage. Bennett provides ATK buff and backup healing alongside Mika. This team still performs very well with C6 Mika and hits hard on Eula’s Burst window.
Razor Physical Team
- Main DPS: Razor
- Cryo Support: Rosaria (Cryo application + CRIT Rate share + Physical RES shred at C6)
- Support: Mika (Physical DMG buff + ATK SPD + healing)
- Flex: Fischl
Razor is a Physical Main DPS who benefits from all of Mika’s buffs. His Normal Attack-heavy playstyle quickly builds Detector stacks, and the ATK SPD boost makes him attack faster within his Burst window. Rosaria provides off-field Cryo for Superconduct, shares her CRIT Rate with the team at C6, and applies Cryo for the Cryo Resonance CRIT Rate bonus when combined with Mika. Fischl provides off-field Electro for Superconduct and additional damage.
Furina Healer Team
- Main DPS: Any ATK-scaling Main DPS (e.g., Wriothesley, Kamisato Ayaka)
- Buffer: Furina
- Healer: Mika
- Flex: Any support
With the release of Furina, Mika found a second home as a healer. Furina’s Salon Members drain HP from party members, which generates Fanfare stacks. Mika’s Burst heals the team reliably through instant AoE healing on cast and ongoing Eagleplume healing through Normal Attacks. This means he keeps Furina’s HP drain from being dangerous while simultaneously maximizing Fanfare generation through rapid HP fluctuations. His Cryo application also provides Cryo Resonance CRIT Rate for teams with another Cryo character.
Wanderer Support Team
Wanderer can benefit from Mika’s ATK SPD boost during his Elemental Burst window. While Wanderer does not deal Physical DMG, the ATK SPD alone increases how many Normal Attack hits he can land, stacking his Jade-Claimed Feather CRIT Rate bonuses faster. Mika provides healing so Wanderer can stay on the field safely. This team does not use Mika’s Physical DMG% buffs but uses his healing and ATK SPD effectively.
Mika Ascension Materials
Here is the complete list of everything needed to fully ascend Mika to Level 90:
Mika Ascension Materials List
- Shivada Jade Sliver x1
- Shivada Jade Fragment x9
- Shivada Jade Chunk x9
- Shivada Jade Gemstone x6
- Wolfhook x168 (Local Specialty)
- Pseudo-Stamens x46 (Boss Drop)
- Recruit’s Insignia x18
- Sergeant’s Insignia x30
- Lieutenant’s Insignia x36
- 420,000 Mora
Where to Get Mika’s Ascension Materials
Wolfhook is Mika’s Mondstadt local specialty. These strange purple berries grow on the ground at the base of trees and bushes exclusively in Wolvendom, the wolf-inhabited forest in the Windwail Highland area of Mondstadt. They share this material with Razor — the only other character who uses Wolfhook. Every three days, the traveling merchant Chloris near Windrise will sell up to 5 Wolfhooks for 1,000 Mora each, which helps top up supplies between respawns. Wolfhook cannot be grown in the Serenitea Pot, so field farming is necessary.
Pseudo-Stamens are dropped by the Setekh Wenut, a large sandworm world boss located in the southeastern edge of the Desert of Hadramaveth in Sumeru — slightly underground in the Wenut Tunnels. This is a unique case where a Mondstadt character uses a Sumeru boss material. The Setekh Wenut is a relatively straightforward boss to defeat: watch for its pattern of emerging from the sand and stay out of its AoE attacks. It does not drop Shivada Jade, so plan to farm Cryo gems separately from Cryo-affiliated bosses.
Fatui Insignias (Recruit’s, Sergeant’s, and Lieutenant’s Insignia) are dropped by Fatui Skirmishers, Fatui Cicin Mages, and Fatui Pyro Agents found across all regions of Teyvat. These are extremely common enemies. Sergeant’s Insignia requires level 40+ enemies; Lieutenant’s Insignia requires level 60+ enemies.
Shivada Jade gems for Cryo characters can be obtained from Cryo-related World Bosses such as the Cryo Regisvine, Cryo Hypostasis, and the Cryo Whopperflower in various locations. Use Dust of Azoth at the Alchemy Bench to convert other gem types into Shivada Jade if needed.
Mika Talent Materials
Here is the complete list needed to fully upgrade all three of Mika’s talents to Level 10:
Mika Talent Materials List
- Teachings of Ballad x9
- Guide to Ballad x63
- Philosophies of Ballad x114
- Mirror of Mushin x18 (Weekly Boss Drop)
- Recruit’s Insignia x18
- Sergeant’s Insignia x66
- Lieutenant’s Insignia x93
- Crown of Insight x3 (to fully crown all 3 talents)
Where to Get Mika’s Talent Materials
Ballad Talent Books (Teachings, Guide, and Philosophies of Ballad) are obtained from the Forsaken Rift Domain in Mondstadt. This domain is available on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays only. Note: this domain contains Cryo enemies, so avoid bringing Mika himself into the domain run. Bring Pyro characters to deal with them effectively.
Mirror of Mushin is Mika’s weekly boss drop. It is obtained by defeating the Everlasting Lord of Arcane Wisdom (the Shouki no Kami/Scaramouche boss) in the Joururi Workshop domain in Sumeru. This weekly boss is accessible after completing the relevant Sumeru Archon Quest chapter, or through Quick Challenge in the Adventurer Handbook. Dream Solvents can convert other Scaramouche drops into Mirror of Mushin.
Mika Talent Upgrade Priority
Mika’s talent priority is unusual because his Physical DMG% buff does not scale with his Skill talent level — it is a flat value baked into his kit. Only his ATK SPD buff and his healing scale with talent levels. Here is the correct order:
- 1st Priority: Elemental Burst – Skyfeather Song. The Burst controls the instant team heal on cast and the Eagleplume healing per Normal Attack hit. Both scale with HP and the Burst talent level. Max this first for stronger heals.
- 2nd Priority: Elemental Skill – Starfrost Swirl. Leveling the Skill increases Mika’s ATK SPD buff. Each talent level adds a small amount of ATK SPD, which can matter if your team has specific ATK SPD breakpoints (such as needing 10% for an extra Eula Burst stack). Level this after the Burst, especially if ATK SPD breakpoints matter in your team.
- 3rd Priority: Normal Attack. Do not level this. Mika’s Normal Attacks have no role in his gameplay as a support. Leave it at Level 1.
Mika Pros and Cons
Pros
- One of the few characters in the game who can directly buff Physical DMG% — a very rare and valuable support role for Physical teams.
- ATK SPD buff is unique and highly valuable for characters like Eula who deal more total damage the faster they can attack in a timed window.
- Provides both instant team-wide healing on Burst cast and sustained single-target healing through Eagleplume — two healing modes in one character.
- Cryo element enables Cryo Resonance CRIT Rate boost when paired with another Cryo character.
- Works as a generalist healer outside of Physical teams when paired with Furina.
- C6 adds an enormous 60% Physical CRIT DMG buff that transforms his value in Physical DPS teams.
Cons
- Very niche role — primarily useful only in Physical DMG teams. Outside those teams, other healers usually offer more utility.
- High Energy requirements at C0 (around 180–220% ER), which competes with HP% for artifact substats.
- His best buffs are locked behind C6, which requires significant gacha investment on a 4-star.
- Physical DMG% buff does not scale with Skill talent level, making talent investment less impactful than for most characters.
- His Cryo application is brief and weak — not enough to maintain Superconduct or Freeze reactions on his own. Always needs another Cryo character alongside him.
Tips for Playing Mika
- Always pair with another Cryo character: Mika’s Cryo application alone is not enough to maintain Cryo reactions. Rosaria is the best free option for Physical teams — she provides CRIT Rate, Physical RES shred at C6, and off-field Cryo application. Cryo Resonance with any second Cryo character also gives the team +15% CRIT Rate against Cryo-affected enemies.
- Do not rush Eula’s Lightfall Sword detonation: When Mika’s Soulwind is active, its buffs apply to Eula’s Normal Attacks and her Burst. Detonating Lightfall Sword before Mika’s buffs are active (or after they expire) costs significant damage. Always ensure Soulwind is active before the detonation window.
- Use Burst before the DPS takes the field: Use Mika’s Skill and then Burst at the start of the rotation to apply Soulwind and Eagleplume, then swap to the DPS. This ensures all buffs are in place from the first attack.
- Farm for C6 if you use Mika in Physical teams: The gap between C4 and C6 in Physical teams is enormous. C4 reduces his ER cost meaningfully, but C6 adds the 60% Physical CRIT DMG that truly sets his Physical team support apart from alternatives. Since he is a 4-star, he appears on standard and event banners frequently.
- Build enough ER before anything else: If Mika cannot use his Burst reliably, he loses both the team ATK buff (from Noblesse) and the Eagleplume healing. Always hit your ER threshold first before investing in HP% or Healing Bonus.
- Use Hold Skill for multi-target situations: The Rimestar Flare from Hold Skill splits into shards that hit multiple enemies, making it better against groups. The Tap Skill fires a piercing arrow that is better for single targets or enemies in a line.
Is Mika Worth Building?
Yes — within his niche, Mika is excellent and highly recommended. If you play Eula, Mika is her best support character in the game, and C6 Mika in an Eula team with Raiden Shogun is one of the strongest Physical DPS setups available. He also works as a solid generalist healer in Furina teams outside of his Physical support role.
The main caveat is his niche dependency: if you do not have Eula or are not interested in Physical teams, other supports like Bennett, Jean, or Sangonomiya Kokomi will provide more universal value. But for players who love Physical DPS gameplay, Mika is an indispensable member of their roster. You can also pair him with Razor, Rosaria, Fischl, and Kaeya for other solid Physical and Cryo team compositions.
Frequently Asked Questions About Mika in Genshin Impact
Does Mika’s Physical DMG buff scale with his Skill talent level?
No. The Physical DMG% bonus from Detector stacks is a fixed value that does not increase with Skill talent levels. Only Mika’s ATK SPD buff and his healing output scale with talent levels. This makes talent investment less urgent for Mika than for most characters — prioritize reaching his ER threshold and HP stats before rushing talent upgrades.
How many Detector stacks can Mika give?
At C0, the Soulwind state caps at 3 Detector stacks. The A1 passive raises the cap to 4. C6 raises it to 5. Each stack provides Physical DMG% bonus to the on-field character, so more stacks equals more sustained Physical damage.
Is C6 Mika worth it?
Yes, if you play Physical DPS teams with Eula. The 60% Physical CRIT DMG bonus from C6 is his most impactful constellation by far and transforms his value in Physical teams. Since Mika is a 4-star who appears on standard banners and event banners regularly, collecting 6 copies over time is realistic. C4 is also recommended as a practical stopping point for reducing ER costs if C6 is too far away.
Is Mika good without Eula?
He works as a generalist healer outside of Physical teams — especially in Furina teams where his consistent HP restoration helps generate Fanfare stacks. However, he provides less unique value in non-Physical teams compared to Eula. In those teams, more versatile healers like Bennett, Kokomi, or Baizhu usually offer stronger utility alongside their healing.
What is Mika’s best weapon?
Favonius Lance is his best all-around weapon — it solves his Energy Recharge problems and generates particles for the whole team. Symphonist of Scents is his premium option for maximum healing output, but requires C4 or strong ER support from teammates to use comfortably. Prototype Starglitter is the best free craftable option if neither of the above is available.
