Valor Mortis The Curious Case of Seamus Diggory Quest

    TL;DR

    • The Curious Case of Seamus Diggory is a Chapter 6 side quest found near the Silent Cannons Lantern in the Cursed Hollow.
    • Cross the river platforms from the lantern, turn right at the cannon enemy, and wall-run into the new area.
    • Speak to Seamus Diggory through his window — he gives you an Empty Bottle and asks for blood.
    • Defeat the dog mini-boss in the area behind the house, then interact with the pig to fill the bottle with Blood.
    • Also grab the Bottle of Wine from a barrel inside the nearby shack — it’s an alternative to the blood.
    • Give Wine for the better reward: Ferrofluid Flask Power Upgrade + 3,000 Catalysts.
    • Give Blood earns: Ferrofluid Flask Power Upgrade + 1,000 Catalysts.
    • Both choices unlock the Blood and Wine achievement and trophy.

The Curious Case of Seamus Diggory is one of the stranger quests in Valor Mortis. You’re deep in the Cursed Hollow, fighting your way through a plague-ridden swamp village, and then you come across a man locked in a shed asking you for blood. Classic Chapter 6. This guide covers how to find Seamus, what to do in the area around him, and which choice gives you the better reward at the end.

Where to Find Seamus Diggory in Valor Mortis

This quest is found during Chapter 6: Punishment in the Cursed Hollow region. The nearest checkpoint is the Silent Cannons Lantern. Rest there before heading out — there’s a mini-boss fight coming and you want full flasks.

From the Silent Cannons Lantern, head out and cross the river using the floating platform section. The water and swamp in this part of the Cursed Hollow can damage you if you fall in, so take your time on the platforms.

Once across, you’ll encounter a cannon-wielding enemy up ahead. Don’t go straight — turn right. You’ll spot a wall-running section that takes you into a new area. Use it.

On the other side, you’ll find a house. Approach the window and interact with it to speak to Seamus Diggory. He’s a soldier who has convinced himself he’s becoming a vampire as a way to survive the plague. He won’t leave the house because of the sunlight — or so he believes. He asks you to find him some untainted blood so he can complete his self-styled vampire experiment. He hands you an Empty Bottle and the quest begins.

Before heading out to find the blood, explore inside the large house near Seamus. There are diary notes scattered around that spell out exactly how this man got here. It’s worth reading them — they add real color to an already odd story. The key detail: Seamus started doing this to cope with the plague, and now he fully believes in his own delusion.

How to Get the Blood-Filled Bottle — Dog Mini-Boss Location

The pig you need — and the blood — is in the area behind the big house. But you can’t just walk up and grab it. There’s a dog mini-boss guarding the area.

    Defeating the Dog Mini-Boss

This enemy has a beefier health bar than a standard dog enemy and can summon temporary dog companions mid-fight to swarm you. Don’t let the adds pile up — deal with them quickly before refocusing on the main target. The mini-boss itself isn’t complicated, but managing multiple dogs in a tight space can get messy fast.

Watch the attack patterns. Use ranged attacks to pick off the summoned companions, then get back in close for the main fight. Parrying works on most of its moves, so don’t be shy about it. If you’re struggling with posture-breaking and parry timing at this point in the game, our tips and tricks getting started guide covers the fundamentals.

Once the mini-boss is down, you’ll receive an Amber as a drop. Then look for the pig lying on the ground in the same area. Interact with it to fill your Empty Bottle with Blood.

Where to Find the Bottle of Wine

Before heading back to Seamus, take a look around for the nearby shack. It’s in the same general area, close to where the pig is. Inside the shack, you’ll see animal carcasses hanging from the ceiling — not subtle. On top of a barrel inside, you’ll find a Bottle of Wine.

Pick it up. If you collect both the blood and the wine, you’ll have a genuine choice when you return to Seamus. If you only get the blood, you’ll be locked into giving him that.

This is worth doing. The wine gives the better reward — more on that below.

Should You Give Seamus Blood or Wine in Valor Mortis?

Return to the house and interact with Seamus through the window again. If you collected both items, the game gives you the choice:

    Give Him the Blood

If you hand over the pig’s blood, Seamus drinks it and realizes it doesn’t work the way he expected. He’s forced to confront the fact that he’s still very much a human being — not a vampire. The illusion breaks. Reward:

    • 1x Ferrofluid Flask Power Upgrade
    • 1,000 Catalysts

    Give Him the Wine

If you give Seamus the wine instead of the blood, he drinks it believing it’s exactly what he asked for. He’s overjoyed. The delusion holds. He thinks he’s proven his vampire theory. It’s equal parts funny and sad — the man is happy, in a completely deluded way. Reward:

    • 1x Ferrofluid Flask Power Upgrade
    • 3,000 Catalysts

    Which Choice Is Better?

Give him the wine. It gives you three times the Catalysts for the same Ferrofluid upgrade. Both choices complete the quest, unlock the same achievement, and give the same primary reward. The only difference is the Catalyst payout — and 3,000 versus 1,000 is a meaningful gap, especially mid-game when you’re leveling up and upgrading weapons.

The narrative outcome is also easier to sit with. Seamus isn’t hurting anyone, and leaving him happy in his little shed isn’t a bad outcome by Valor Mortis standards.

The Curious Case of Seamus Diggory Quest Rewards

Here’s the full breakdown of what you get:

    • Ferrofluid Flask Power Upgrade (#10 in the full collectible list) — this is a valuable pickup that increases the potency of your healing flask. This is the main reason to do this quest even if you’re not a completionist.
    • 1,000 or 3,000 Catalysts — depending on your choice. Give wine for the better payout.
    • Blood and Wine Achievement / Trophy — unlocked as soon as the quest completes, regardless of which option you choose.
    • Amber drop — from the dog mini-boss during the quest, not tied to the final choice.

The Ferrofluid Flask Power Upgrade is what makes this quest a must-do for any completionist run. There are 20 of these upgrades in the game total, and every single one matters for sustain across the harder later chapters. To see where this fits in relation to all collectibles, check our all achievements and trophy list.

Is The Curious Case of Seamus Diggory Missable?

No. You can return to the Silent Cannons area of the Cursed Hollow at any point and complete this quest. The house, the pig, and the wine barrel all stay in place. Nothing locks you out.

The only truly missable quest in Valor Mortis is The Choir during Chapter 10. That one requires you to explore the prison before leaving — you can’t go back later. Everything else is returnable. Check our all chapters list for the full picture of quest availability across the game.
