TL;DR
- The Tech Support challenge is in Chapter 10: The Past Never Dies.
- You need to help a DJ named Rogue Decoder fix his broken audio setup.
- Step 1: Talk to the DJ.
- Step 2: Turn on the generator to the right of the DJ.
- Step 3: Head to the speakers at the back. Grab the fuse from the green storage box on the left.
- Step 4: Insert the fuse into the speaker to restore the sound system.
- Challenge complete — continue following the pirate and Greenway to the auction.
The 007 First Light Tech Support challenge asks you to stop mid-mission and play electrician for a distressed DJ. It sounds strange for a spy game, but this optional moment is one of the more fun detours in Chapter 10. The DJ — named Rogue Decoder — is being pressured by pirate thugs to get the party started, and his audio setup is completely dead. Bond can step in and fix it himself, which completes the challenge and adds a nice bit of personality to an already busy chapter.
This guide walks you through every step clearly so you don’t miss it. The challenge is easy once you know what to look for, but it’s also easy to walk right past if you’re focused on the auction objective. Where Is the Tech Support Challenge in 007 First Light?
The Tech Support challenge takes place in Chapter 10: The Past Never Dies. It becomes available after you have finished collecting the auction fee money in the Black Market section.
Once you have collected enough funds, you will be escorted up a ramp toward the auction venue. As you head up the ramp, you will reach a dance floor area with a crowd waiting for the music to start. That’s where you’ll find Rogue Decoder — the DJ voiced and played by real-life DJ Dimitri Vegas. He is visibly stressed, and a group of pirate thugs are threatening him to get the party going. This is your cue to step in.
If you haven’t collected your auction funds yet, see our guide on how to obtain the auction fee in 007 First Light.
How to Complete the Tech Support Challenge – Step by Step
Step 1: Talk to Rogue Decoder

Walk up to the DJ at his setup on the dance floor and interact with him. Bond will offer to help diagnose the problem. This starts the challenge officially. From this point, you have two things to fix — the generator and the speakers.
Step 2: Turn On the Generator

Look to the right of the DJ. You will see an unpowered generator sitting there. Walk over to it and interact with it to switch it on. This restores power to the audio equipment. However, the music still won’t play. The speakers need fixing too.
A useful trick here: look for the yellow wire on the ground near the soundbar. If you follow that wire, it leads you directly to the fuse box and then to the generator. This makes it easy to trace the whole system without guessing.
Step 3: Go to the Speakers at the Back

Head to the speakers positioned at the back of the dance floor area. When you inspect them, Bond will identify the problem — a missing fuse. The speakers can’t power up without one.
Step 4: Grab the Fuse From the Green Storage Box
Look to the left of the speakers. There is a green storage box nearby. Open it and grab the fuse inside. This is the part that a lot of players miss — they check the speakers and aren’t sure what to do next. The fuse is always in that green box just to the left.
Step 5: Insert the Fuse Into the Speaker
Take the fuse you just grabbed and insert it into the speaker. The moment you do, the audio system roars back to life and the music kicks in on the dance floor. The Tech Support challenge will be marked as complete.
You can now continue following the pirate and Greenway down the hallway toward the main auction and carry on with the story.
Best Order to Do The Past Never Dies Challenges
If you’re working through the full list of challenges in this chapter, the Tech Support challenge should be done after the market challenges. A good order to follow is: Crypto Wallet eavesdrop first, then the Fight Pit, then the cup game or shooting range, then the Scorpius deal, and finally Tech Support. Doing it in this order keeps the money flowing in the right sequence and avoids unnecessary backtracking through the market.

Does the Tech Support Challenge Affect the Story?
No, the Tech Support challenge is entirely optional. You don’t have to help Rogue Decoder to progress the main story. The auction sequence continues whether you fix the setup or not. However, completing it counts toward your challenge total for the chapter, and finishing all challenges in The Past Never Dies rewards you with the Mauritania outfit for use in TacSim. So if you’re going for 100% chapter mastery, don’t skip it.
