The A Retrograde Poem for You side quest in Neverness to Everness (NTE) is one of the most emotionally touching missions in the game. On the surface, it’s a simple errand chain. But underneath, it’s a quiet story about a snowman trying to do something impossible — make it snow in summer — and the bittersweet price of that miracle.
This guide gives you every step of the walkthrough, all the rewards, tips to avoid getting stuck, and answers to common questions about unlocking snowy weather.

How to Start A Retrograde Poem for You in NTE
Head to the Miguel District and find the blue exclamation mark (!) near Caltrop Lake Train Station. This marks where Daisy stands, working at the Felicitá Gelato stall.
If you can’t find Daisy or she doesn’t appear, scroll down to the troubleshooting section below.
Tip: This quest becomes available after finishing Prologue 2. If you haven’t done that yet, it won’t show up on the map.
A Retrograde Poem for You – Full Walkthrough

Step 1 – Talk to Daisy
Speak with Daisy at the gelato stall. She tells you the shop is completely out of stock. Apparently a group of bikers bought every last bit of ice cream to give to a nearby Snowman Anomaly they call Puff. The snowman has been cooling people down in exchange for the treats.
Step 2 – Defeat the Bikers
Right after the conversation, a group of Bikers shows up and starts trouble. You need to fight them to proceed. Attack from behind for a quick and easy win. This combat segment is not difficult — even at lower levels it’s manageable.
If you feel you need to improve your combat skills first, check out the guide on how to parry, attack, critical dodge, and riposte in NTE.

Step 3 – Find and Talk to Puff the Snowman
Follow the objective marker on the map to find Puff. When you arrive, you learn how the creature “cools down” people — and it’s not exactly what you’d expect. Kindly decline Puff’s offer of cooling.
After that awkward moment, Puff asks you for a favor. He needs someone to act as his translator so he can convince the city to let him do his work. In exchange, he’ll gather enough cold air to make it snow in summer. Agree to help him.
Ask Puff questions to learn more about him. This is also a nice bit of lore if you enjoy the world-building in NTE.

Step 4 – Go to Nekomaru Ramen
Your first stop is Nekomaru Ramen. Head inside and speak to Koharu, who is the ramen shop employee. She’s hesitant about letting Puff stand outside and attract customers because the head chef is strict about appearances.
You’ll need to persuade Nekomaru — the head chef — to warm up to Puff (no pun intended).
Conveniently, a customer outside gets burned by eating ramen too quickly. Puff steps in and cools the poor fellow down instantly. The man is shocked by how this is done, but the end result is that Nekomaru sees Puff’s value and agrees to let him work by the entrance.
Now you need to take a photo of Puff near the shop entrance. Make sure Puff is clearly inside the camera frame before snapping the picture. Koharu rewards Puff with cold drinks after this.

Step 5 – Go to 7-Oceans Seafood
The next cold air source is a refrigerated seafood delivery truck at 7-Oceans Seafood. Speak to the owner, Consuelo. She’s not immediately willing to help, but after some negotiation she agrees to let Puff ride along — as long as you put down a deposit of around 30,000 Fons.
Important: Make sure you have at least 30,000 Fons before starting this section. If you’re short, you can farm Fons from safe locations or other sources before proceeding.
Once the deposit is settled, you become the delivery driver for the refrigerated truck. Follow the road arrows to each delivery destination:
- First stop: Clicky
- Second stop: Panda Hotpot
- Final stop: Budoriya
After completing all deliveries, return to 7-Oceans Seafood and speak with Consuelo again. You’ll get most of your deposit back. It’s not a loss — just a temporary hold.
Owning a vehicle makes these deliveries much smoother. If you haven’t gotten one yet, check out how to get a car in NTE. You can also look into vehicle modification and customization to improve your driving experience. And if you want to enjoy free driving around the map, the NTE racing guide is worth a look too.

Step 6 – Go to Gold Apple Collection Hall
Puff’s next stop is the Gold Apple Collection Hall, where an ice sculpture exhibition is happening. There’s clearly a backstory here — Puff has some kind of history with the Dvorak family, who are connected to the exhibition.
You’ll speak with Giovanni Dvorak, though the conversation happens through his butler rather than directly. The topic is the ice sculpture on display. After this interaction, Puff wants to visit one more location before gathering his cold air.
Step 7 – Take the Elevator to the Hethereau Skytower Rooftop
Head to the Hethereau Skytower and take the elevator all the way up to the rooftop. This is a quieter, more reflective moment in the quest. Puff wants to take a picture here too, and he thanks you sincerely for your help. You also learn something touching: Puff has never actually seen snow. He’s been working to create something he doesn’t even know the look of.
Step 8 – Wait Until 10 AM the Next Day / Go Near Caltrop Lake Station
The game will ask you to wait until the next morning — specifically 10 AM the next in-game day. Use the time-skip feature if you don’t want to wait in real time. Once it’s morning, head back near Caltrop Lake Station where you first met Puff.
He’s not there. Talk to the NPCs nearby. They haven’t seen him either. Something feels off.
For help with controlling time in the game, see the guide on how to pass time and control weather in NTE.
Step 9 – Go to Caltrop Lake
Follow the new objective marker to Caltrop Lake. Puff isn’t here either. What you find instead is his grass flower crown left on the ground.
It becomes clear: Puff melted away. Making it snow in the middle of summer cost Puff everything. The miracle he worked so hard for — gathering cold air, helping strangers, taking pictures to share with a friend — was achieved at the cost of his own existence.
Step 10 – Pick Up Puff’s Grass Circle
Interact with the flower crown to pick it up. This ends the quest. You’ll receive a final letter from Puff addressed to his friend. Read it before moving on — it ties the whole story together in a simple, honest way.
The moment the quest ends, snowy weather becomes available in Hethereau City.

How to Unlock Snowy Weather in NTE
Completing A Retrograde Poem for You is the only way to unlock the snowy weather condition in Neverness to Everness. Once the quest is finished, snow can appear during certain in-game conditions and weather cycles.
To manually trigger snow, use the weather control option. The guide on how to pass time and control weather in NTE explains exactly how to do this.
Troubleshooting – Daisy Not Appearing
Some players report that Daisy is not at her spot when they arrive at Miguel District. This is a known spawn issue. Here’s how to fix it:
- Defeat any nearby criminals or enemies in the area.
- Save your game and fully close and restart NTE.
- After reloading, go back to the same spot — Daisy should now be there.
This usually resolves the problem on the first try.
Tips Before You Start This Quest
- Have 30,000 Fons ready. You’ll need to put down a deposit at 7-Oceans Seafood. You get most of it back, but you need the funds upfront.
- Complete Prologue 2 first. The quest won’t appear if you haven’t finished Good Business, Better Treasure.
- Own a vehicle. The seafood delivery section is much easier if you already have a car.
- Don’t rush the dialogue. The story in this quest is genuinely good. Take your time reading Puff’s responses.
