TL;DR

  • There are over 20 weapons in Resident Evil Requiem across Grace and Leon’s campaigns.
  • Grace’s weapons have no upgrades. Leon’s weapons can be upgraded at Supply Boxes.
  • Leon stores items at Supply Boxes. Grace stores them in storage chests in safe rooms.
  • Several weapons are story-locked and cannot be missed.
  • Bonus weapons are unlocked post-game using Challenge Points (CP).
  • One weapon — the R.I.P. Knife — is exclusive to Insanity difficulty.

Resident Evil Requiem gives you two very different characters to play as — Grace and Leon — and each one has their own set of weapons. Some are handed to you automatically through the story. Others are tucked away in corners you can easily walk past. This guide covers every weapon in RE9, where to find it, and who uses it, so you never miss a gun on your first run.

Before diving in: Grace’s weapons do not have an upgrade system. Leon’s weapons can be upgraded at Supply Boxes using credits earned from killing enemies and collecting Tracking Modules. Once you find all 25 Mr. Raccoon Memoriam collectibles, you unlock Advanced Tuning, which raises weapon upgrades to Level 3. For more on that, see our guide on all Mr. Raccoon Memoriam locations in Raccoon City.

Resident Evil Requiem is available on PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch 2, Steam, and the Epic Games Store.

All Grace Weapons & Locations in Resident Evil Requiem

Grace has access to three firearms and two melee weapons during her campaign. Her arsenal is more limited than Leon’s, but each weapon has a purpose. She cannot upgrade weapons, but she can store them in storage chests found in safe rooms throughout the Care Center.

Requiem Revolver

Type: Revolver
Location: Automatic — story progression.

This is the most powerful weapon in the game. Leon carries it at the start and gives it to Grace after rescuing her. It uses rare 12.7x55mm rounds and can drop most enemies in a single shot. Grace holds onto it through the Care Center section, then returns it to Leon when she leaves Rhodes Hill. Save it for genuine emergencies and tough mutated enemies — do not waste it on regular infected. For help crafting more ammo for it, see our guide on how to get Requiem Bullets in RE9.

b934 handgun in resident evil requiem
b934 handgun in resident evil requiem

B934 Pistol

Type: Handgun
Location: Dining Room, first floor of the West Wing in the Care Center — on the floor after going through the Kitchen.

This is Grace’s first findable pistol. It is a basic blowback handgun — durable but not particularly powerful. It gets the job done against standard infected but is quickly outclassed. Use it as a backup until you find the S&S M232.

S&S M232 (Grace’s Main Pistol)

Type: Handgun
Location: Bar & Lounge, second floor of the West Wing — on the bar counter.

This is actually Grace’s own pistol, taken from her during the game’s intro. You recover it in the Bar & Lounge. It is significantly better than the B934 — more damage, a larger 9-round magazine, better stability, and faster reloads. Pick this up as soon as you access the second floor. It will carry Grace through the rest of her campaign. The Bar & Lounge safe is also nearby — check our guide for the Bar and Lounge Safe Code in RE9.

Makeshift Knife

Type: Melee
Location: Filing Room — inside the locker next to the Dining Room.

A crude handmade knife for close combat. It has limited durability and cannot be repaired or sharpened by Grace. Use it as a last resort when grabbed by an enemy. Once broken, dismantle it for Scrap rather than letting it sit in your inventory.

Hunting Knife

Type: Melee
Location: Dropped by an enemy near the Dining Room and Filing Room — the enemy carries it visibly in hand.

A slightly better knife than the Makeshift version but still subject to the same durability limits. Like the Makeshift Knife, it cannot be sharpened by Grace. Both knives are best used defensively when grabbed, not as primary weapons.

Bottle of Acid

Type: Special / Throwable
Location: Chemical Storage in the ARK — on the table right as you enter.

Concentrated sulfuric acid that deals heavy damage to enemies with exposed tissue. Grace picks this up during the ARK section. She can also craft more once she learns the recipe later in that area.

All Leon Weapons & Locations in Resident Evil Requiem

Leon’s arsenal is larger and more upgradeable. He earns credits from killing enemies and collecting Tracking Modules, which he spends at Supply Boxes to buy and upgrade weapons. He cannot use storage chests — instead he sells unwanted items directly at Supply Boxes to free space.

Alligator Snapper

Type: Handgun
Location: Automatic — Leon’s starting weapon in Wrenwood.

Leon’s DSO-issued semi-automatic handgun and his sidearm from the start of the game. It is reliable and upgradeable, with a solid range of attachments available at Supply Boxes. Upgrading it properly can keep it useful throughout the entire campaign, which makes it a good budget-friendly choice if you would rather save credits for other weapons.

Hatchet

Type: Melee
Location: Automatic — in Leon’s starting inventory alongside the Alligator Snapper.

Leon’s most important defensive tool. He can use it to parry enemy attacks and lunges, and when a zombie is staggered he can chop off their head. Unlike Grace’s knives, the Hatchet does not break — it just needs to be sharpened periodically. It uses no ammo. Upgrading the Hatchet at Supply Boxes should be your first priority, as parry skill becomes critical in tougher sections.

MSBG 500 Shotgun

Type: Shotgun
Location: Attic — on the floor along the main path during Leon’s section, near the Chunk enemy encounter.

Leon’s first shotgun and a powerful close-range option. It is hard to miss during the Attic section. The Chunk encounter also drops a Hand Grenade when defeated — pick that up too. For help dealing with Chunk, see our guide on how to kill the Chunk in Resident Evil Requiem.

Classic 70 Sniper Rifle

Type: Sniper Rifle
Location: Automatic — equipped when Leon takes over again at the Care Center Courtyard.

Leon’s precision weapon for picking off targets at range and hitting weak points on mutated enemies. It is handed to Leon through story progression and cannot be missed.

Gal SMG

Type: Submachine Gun
Location: Underground Parking Garage, Cedarbrook Apartments — in the north-west corner of the flooded garage, in the same room as one of the batteries you need.

A fast-firing SMG that you can grab for free instead of buying one from a Supply Box. It fires very quickly and works well against groups of weaker enemies. Easy to miss if you focus only on the battery objective.

Marksman 1A Sniper Rifle

Type: Sniper Rifle
Location: East end of the main road between the Gas Station and Apartments in Raccoon City — climb behind the truck and open the large blue BSAA container using the BSAA Container Keys from the nearby cutscene.

A secondary sniper rifle with a cloth-wrapped suppressor and high-power scope. If it does not fit in your inventory when you find it, you can purchase it later at a Supply Box. For more on BSAA containers, see our BSAA Container locations and rewards guide.

W870 Police Shotgun

Type: Shotgun
Location: Gun Shop Kendo — on a shelf directly behind the door you enter through, after a story cutscene plays automatically.

One of the best shotguns in the game. High firepower with great upgrade potential. After the cutscene triggers, immediately turn 180 degrees and grab it from the shelf. It is extremely easy to miss if you keep walking forward. If your inventory is full, a Supply Box is available just ahead where you can sell items.

Mortal Edge

Type: Melee Axe
Location: ARK — looted from the hatchet-wielding boss after defeating them.

An upgraded axe that replaces your regular Hatchet. It does more damage and has better durability, plus it unlocks special combat finishers. Equip it by going to your inventory, unequipping the Hatchet, and selecting Mortal Edge.

Leon’s Supply Box Weapons (Purchasable)

Leon gains access to Supply Boxes starting in East Raccoon City. The following weapons can be purchased there using credits:

  • Silencer 9 (Pistol) — powerful and precise with a built-in suppressor. First available at the Central Camp Supply Box for 5,500 credits. Outclasses the Alligator Snapper in almost every stat.
  • 990-TAC (Shotgun) — semi-automatic shotgun with excellent grouping. A strong alternative to the W870 with an 8-round capacity. A dot sight can be attached.
  • Stiri REVO3 A1 (SMG) — lightweight compact submachine gun with a high rate of fire. A stock can be added for improved accuracy.

Credits are earned by killing enemies and collecting Tracking Modules — common to legendary rarity — dropped by fallen foes. Higher rarity modules come mostly from mini-bosses.

Bonus Content Weapons (Post-Game)

After finishing the story on any difficulty, including Casual, you unlock the Special Content menu. These weapons are purchased with Challenge Points (CP) earned through in-game challenges. Here is the full list:

  • Freya’s Needle (Grace) — full-auto pistol.
  • Koktesu (Grace) — an unbreakable knife, solving all of Grace’s knife durability issues.
  • Matilda IMP (Leon) — three-round burst handgun. Costs 500 CP.
  • Ghost Grudge (Leon) — revolver that uses 12.7x55mm ammo. Costs 1,000 CP.
  • Redemption (Leon) — assault rifle using machine gun ammo. Costs 3,500 CP.
  • Mortal Edge (Leon) — also obtainable in the story from the ARK boss. Costs 3,000 CP if you want it via the bonus menu.
  • RPG-7 (Leon) — rocket launcher with devastating firepower. Costs 15,000 CP.
  • Clatter Carbine (Leon) — assault rifle. One of the best guns in the game for follow-up playthroughs.

To earn CP efficiently, complete challenges across the game. For help with those, see our guide on how to get all trophies and achievements in RE9. And for unlocking Infinite Ammo with CP, check our Infinite Ammo guide for RE9.

Insanity Difficulty Exclusive Weapon

R.I.P. Knife

Type: Knife
Location: Parlor Room in the Care Center — purchased for 5 Antique Coins on Insanity difficulty only.

A special knife that yields more Infected Blood when used on enemies. The crafting recipe can also be found by analyzing a Blood Specimen in the first floor Waiting Room closet. This weapon is only accessible on Insanity difficulty. For help with Antique Coin locations, see our Antique Coins and Parlor Prizes guide.

Special / Environmental Weapons

Beyond the standard arsenal, RE9 also lets Leon pick up and temporarily use weapons from the environment:

  • Chainsaw — a portable automatic saw that can tear through zombies quickly. Picked up from the environment in specific areas.
  • Enemy Axes — axes thrown by armored enemies can be caught and thrown back at other targets.

These are not permanent inventory items but are devastating when available.

Weapon Tips for Resident Evil Requiem

  • Save the Requiem Revolver. Whether you are playing as Grace or Leon, do not use it on regular infected. Save it for bosses and the toughest mutations. Check out our guide on all boss fights in Resident Evil Requiem to plan ahead.
  • Upgrade Leon’s Hatchet first. It uses no ammo, supports parries, and stays useful for the entire game. Axe upgrades should be your first Supply Box purchase.
  • Grab the W870 Police immediately. After the Gun Shop Kendo cutscene, turn around right away. Many players walk out without it.
  • Do not ignore the Gal SMG. It is a free gun in the Underground Parking Garage that saves you supply box credits.
  • Break Grace’s old knives into Scrap. Broken knives are not useless — dismantle them for crafting materials rather than carrying dead weight.
  • Manage inventory carefully. Grace uses storage chests in safe rooms. Leon must sell items at Supply Boxes to free slots. Plan before exploring new areas.
