- Run with Ghost + Ninja + Battle Hardened for a complete stealth flanking class.
The WZ.55 Striga is one of MW4’s most satisfying SMGs to use once you understand what it is. It’s not a spray-everything weapon โ it fires slower than the PPSh-41 and hits harder per shot, with a mobility stat near the top of its class and one of the most manageable recoil profiles among SMGs in the game. Get the build right and it becomes a reliable flanking tool that doesn’t fight you on the way to the target.
This guide covers three complete builds for multiplayer and DMZ, the Rampage Apex setup, full class setup, and everything you need to know before you start levelling it.
How to Unlock the WZ.55 Striga in MW4
The WZ.55 Striga unlocks at Player Rank 18. It comes in relatively early compared to most weapons, so you’ll have access to it before the mid-game grind really sets in. Once unlocked, the gun has 60 weapon levels โ one of the longer grinds in the SMG class. The Rampage Apex attachment sits at weapon level 60, so it takes time to reach but is worth planning around if akimbo play appeals to you.

Best WZ.55 Striga Versatile Loadout in MW4
This is the go-to build for standard 6v6 multiplayer. It targets the WZ.55 Striga’s main weakness โ inconsistent recoil during sustained fire โ while keeping ADS speed and handling competitive.
- Muzzle: 330TC2 Gridlock
- Barrel: GW Sender 500
- Laser: XRK Clutch-LS
- Rear Grip: Matuzek 532-L Grip
- Magazine: 35 Round Mag
The 330TC2 Gridlock is the muzzle of choice here โ it provides sound suppression and improved firing stability, which means your shots land more consistently under pressure and you stay off the minimap while firing. It also comes with a useful boost to ADS speed, which offsets some of the handling cost from the other attachments.
The GW Sender 500 barrel is the core of the recoil package. It pushes down horizontal and vertical recoil while tightening ADS idle sway โ the combination makes the gun feel noticeably more settled during full-auto fire, especially at the five to ten metre range where this SMG does its best work.
The Matuzek 532-L Grip in the rear grip slot adds further ADS speed and ADS out speed โ important for an SMG that needs to snap to target quickly in close engagements. The XRK Clutch-LS laser is a dim ADS laser that further sharpens ADS response without projecting a visible beam to enemies. The 35 Round Mag gives you extra magazine capacity and one more reserve mag, with a small movement penalty that the other mobility-focused attachments comfortably absorb.
The WZ.55 Striga has clean iron sights, so an optic slot is not needed on this build. Swap the laser for a ZLR Type C optic only if you personally prefer a mounted red dot.
Best WZ.55 Striga Mobility Loadout in MW4
This build is for pure run-and-gun play โ faster movement, faster sprint-to-fire, and the Rampage Apex giving you double SMG output in the tightest spaces.
- Muzzle: FTAC Silent Recon
- Barrel: DS 9×18 Pro
- Magazine: 50 Round Drum Mag
- Rear Grip: FTAC Guard5
- Laser: QFL-S4.5
- Apex: WZ.55 Striga Rampage (optional โ weapon level 60)
The DS 9×18 Pro light barrel is the centrepiece of this setup. It trades some recoil control for movement speed and ADS movement speed improvements โ exactly what a flanking build needs. The FTAC Silent Recon muzzle handles suppression so your movements don’t appear on the minimap, while the FTAC Guard5 rear grip brings back the horizontal and vertical recoil the light barrel gave up, keeping shots on track even while you’re moving.
The QFL-S4.5 laser drops sprint-to-fire time significantly and reduces hip idle sway โ two improvements that directly benefit players who push aggressively from cover without always going full ADS. Pair this with the 50 Round Drum Mag and you have the capacity to push through a room and keep firing without a reload punishing your momentum.
WZ.55 Striga Rampage Apex Build
The Rampage Apex converts the WZ.55 Striga into an akimbo pair โ two SMGs, one in each hand, firing simultaneously. It’s the most unconventional setup for this weapon and also one of the most devastating at extremely close range. The Apex slot is free and doesn’t replace any of your five standard attachment slots, so you can run a full five-attachment build underneath it.
- Muzzle: FTAC Silent Recon
- Barrel: GW Sender 500
- Magazine: 35 Round Mag
- Rear Grip: FTAC Guard5
- Laser: Schlager Visiv-5
- Apex: WZ.55 Striga Rampage
With akimbo active, you lose the ability to aim down sights โ hip-fire is the only option. The GW Sender 500 barrel and FTAC Guard5 grip help keep hip-fire recoil controlled so both weapons track the same target. The Schlager Visiv-5 laser provides visible ADS laser benefits that still apply to hip-fire hip idle sway, while the FTAC Silent Recon muzzle keeps you suppressed.
Akimbo Striga is a niche pick โ it’s strongest in Hardpoint, Domination, and any mode that puts enemies inside buildings. It struggles in open-map engagements where hip-fire spread becomes a problem at even moderate range. Know when to use it and it’s genuinely disruptive. Know your limits and swap to a longer-range secondary as a backup.

Best WZ.55 Striga DMZ Loadout
DMZ favours suppressed builds that keep you off the minimap and don’t draw rivals from across the map. Here’s the build tuned specifically for Hajin runs:
- Muzzle: Haebang BAM70
- Barrel: GW Sender 500
- Magazine: 50 Round Drum Mag
- Rear Grip: Matuzek 532-L Grip
- Laser: Schlager Visiv-5
The Haebang BAM70 muzzle is the suppressor of choice for DMZ โ it reduces minimap signatures, keeps your position quiet during AI contact, and adds a bit of recoil reduction on top. The larger 50 Round Drum Mag replaces the 35 Round Mag here because DMZ encounters often involve multiple AI enemies in quick succession, and running dry mid-fight is a much bigger problem when there’s no respawn. The rest of the build follows the versatile multiplayer formula โ GW Sender 500 for range and recoil, Matuzek 532-L for ADS speed, and Schlager Visiv-5 for sprint-to-fire.
The WZ.55 Striga is ranked Meta for close range in MW4 DMZ, making it a strong pairing with a longer-range weapon for full-map coverage across Hajin. Check out our silo bunker locations guide for one of the best low-risk loot routes to run with this loadout.
Best Class Setup for the WZ.55 Striga in MW4
Perks
- Perk 1: Ghost โ keeps you off enemy UAVs while you work your flanks
- Perk 2: Ninja โ your footsteps are quieter, which directly complements a flanking SMG playstyle
- Perk 3: Battle Hardened โ reduces flash and stun effects, keeping you functional when enemies try to counter your pushes with Tacticals
Equipment
- Lethal: Frag Grenade โ throw it into rooms before you push to force enemies off cover
- Tactical: Concussion Grenade โ disorients defenders before you close the distance
Field Upgrade
- Portable Radar โ spots nearby enemies on the minimap, useful when you’re not sure if an angle is covered before you push it
Secondary Weapon
The WZ.55 Striga is a close-range weapon and needs a secondary that covers distance. Pair it with any AR for full-map coverage โ the Kastov 762 and the M4 are the best choices. The M4 covers mid-range well, while the Kastov 762 gives you harder-hitting capability at distance if your map has longer lanes. See our best assault rifles ranked guide for a full comparison.

WZ.55 Striga Stats and Playstyle Overview
The WZ.55 Striga fires at 651 RPM with 38 damage per shot โ slower rate of fire than the PPSh-41 but harder damage per bullet. This means it rewards players who control their shots rather than holding the trigger. The base 25-round magazine is the gun’s most obvious weakness, which is why extending to 35 or 50 rounds is one of the first attachment priorities in every build.
Its mobility stat is 97/100 โ extremely fast to sprint with and swap to, which suits the close-range flanking role perfectly. EaseScore sits at 6.9/10, meaning it’s relatively forgiving to use and doesn’t demand the recoil discipline of a heavier weapon. The iron sights are clean and usable, so most players won’t need to spend an attachment slot on an optic.
In the current meta the WZ.55 Striga ranks in the Contender tier for versatile multiplayer and Meta tier for close-range DMZ. It’s not at the very top of the SMG category in multiplayer โ the PPSh-41 and ISO Nightshade sit above it โ but for players who want a heavier-hitting, mobility-focused option with a genuinely usable Apex attachment, it’s one of the most fun SMGs in the game.
Tips for Using the WZ.55 Striga in MW4
- Extend the magazine first. The default 25-round mag is the gun’s biggest pain point. Getting to 35 or 50 rounds early in the weapon grind makes a noticeable difference.
- Use its mobility, not just its firepower. The WZ.55 Striga has near-maximum mobility โ move between gunfights quickly, take off-angles, and force opponents to react to you. Standing and holding with this gun plays to its weaknesses, not its strengths.
- The Rampage Apex is a situational tool. Akimbo is devastating in tight corridors and objective rooms, but it’s not an all-modes pick. Keep a versatile single-gun build on a second class for maps where the extra range matters.
- Suppress it in DMZ. The WZ.55 Striga’s high mobility makes it excellent for the extract-and-run loops DMZ rewards. Keeping it suppressed means AI contacts don’t ping your position to everyone nearby.
- Hipfire with Rampage is legit. With the right barrel and grip on the Apex build, hipfire at close range is accurate enough to be a primary method of engagement. Practice it in lower-stakes matches before relying on it in competitive ones.
