TL;DR
- The Grey Wolf Armor Set is Kliff’s signature look from the trailers and box art
- Main method: Find Lola the Tailor in Pailune City after completing Chapter 7
- Boots and cloak are available right away — chest piece requires 100% trust with Lola
- Build trust by gifting Copper Pouches — each one adds 5%, so you need around 18 to 20
- Faster method: Recruit Diederik via Redfox Merchants faction quests — he sells the full set including gloves at just 50 trust
- The set gives solid Lightning Resistance across all pieces and can be refined at a Smithy
The Grey Wolf Armor Set is the most iconic look in Crimson Desert. It’s what Kliff wears in the trailers, the box art, and most of the promotional material. A lot of players go looking for it early and come up empty — because it’s locked behind story progress and an NPC trust system that the game doesn’t spell out clearly. Here’s exactly how to get every piece.
What Is the Grey Wolf Armor Set?
This is a leather armor set built around Lightning Resistance. Every piece provides some level of lightning protection, which becomes genuinely useful as you push into mid-game zones with more lightning-based enemies and bosses. It’s not the best gear in the game outright, but it’s reliable, it’s refinable, and it looks great.
The full set consists of four pieces: the Grey Wolf Leather Cloak, Grey Wolf Leather Armor (chest), Grey Wolf Leather Boots, and Grey Wolf Leather Gloves.
Stats at a glance:
- Grey Wolf Leather Cloak — Defense 0 base, Lightning Resistance Lv. 3. The best elemental resistance piece in the set.
- Grey Wolf Leather Armor (chest) — Defense 3, Lightning Resistance. Core of the set’s survivability.
- Grey Wolf Leather Boots — Defense 2, Attack 13, Lightning Resistance Lv. 1. Rare for boots to give Attack — makes these stand out.
- Grey Wolf Leather Gloves — Defense 1–2, Attack 11, Lightning Resistance.
The cloak starts at 0 base defense but scales well with refinement. If you’re going to use this set for more than a few hours, get it refined at a Smithy as early as you can. Our equipment reinforcement and upgrade guide covers the full process.
For context on how this set compares to other options in the game, our armor accessories guide and how to get better equipment guide are worth reading alongside this one.

Method 1: Buy From Lola in Pailune City (Main Method)
This is the primary way most players will get the set.
Step 1 — Complete Chapter 7: Homecoming
You cannot access Lola’s shop until after Chapter 7 is done. Pailune City is under siege by the Yellow Jackals for most of the mid-game. Until you complete Chapter 7 and defeat the final boss of that chapter, Lola won’t be at her shop and the city won’t be safe to browse in.
Don’t try to sneak in early. Even if you reach the city, Lola won’t trade the Grey Wolf pieces until the liberation is done.

Step 2 — Find Lola’s Tailor Shop
Once Pailune is liberated, head to the southern tip of Pailune City. Lola’s tailor shop is there — look for the small workshop near the waterfront in the eastern district. It stands out slightly from the surrounding buildings.
Speak with Lola and open her shop. At this point, the Grey Wolf Leather Boots and Grey Wolf Leather Cloak are available for purchase immediately. The total cost for these two pieces together is around 9 Silver and 52 Copper, so make sure you have enough silver on hand. If you need to earn more, our how to make money fast guide covers reliable methods.
The chest piece and gloves will not appear in her inventory yet. For those, you need her trust at 100%.

Step 3 — Build Trust With Lola to 100%
This is the step most players don’t realize they need to do.
Open the dialogue menu with Lola and select the gifting option. The best gift to give her is Copper Pouches — each one raises her trust by 5%. You need 18 to 20 Copper Pouches total to reach 100% trust from zero.
Copper Pouches drop from low-level enemies across Pywel — bandits, goblins, and minor roaming enemies. If you need a fast farming spot, the bandit camps around Bardtree Gorge have quick respawn rates and a decent drop rate for pouches.
You can also greet Lola once per day for a small trust boost of +5, and completing any quests she offers gives a larger jump. But gifting pouches is the most direct route.
Once her trust hits 100%, you’ll get a notification that new items are available. The Grey Wolf Leather Armor chest piece and gloves will now appear in her shop.
Important note: Some players report that Lola does not consistently stock the gloves even at 100% trust. If the gloves aren’t showing up, Method 2 below is the more reliable way to get them.
Method 2: Buy From Diederik (Faster — Includes Gloves)
This is actually the better method for players who want the full set without grinding trust to 100%.
Diederik is an NPC tied to the Redfox Merchants faction quests in Delesyia. To recruit him, progress through the Delesyia faction quests until you unlock The Wolf’s Ballad in the Redfox Merchants tab, then find him at Redfox Trading Post and complete the quest. If you’ve already done The Queen’s Lake quest where you fight the Queen Stoneback Crab, you’ll recognize Diederik — he’s the same NPC who leads you to that boss. Our full Queen Stoneback Crab guide covers that quest in detail.
Once the quest is done, Diederik sets up at your Howling Hill camp. His trust requirement to unlock the full inventory is only 50 — compared to Lola’s 100. One additional side quest with him is usually enough to hit 50 trust immediately.
The key advantage: Diederik sells the complete Grey Wolf Armor Set including the gloves, all in one place. If you’re chasing the gloves and having trouble with Lola’s inventory, go through Diederik instead. It’s faster and less annoying.
For Diederik to appear at camp, make sure your Howling Hill camp is upgraded enough to have Merchant Tents built. Our Howling Hill base camp upgrade guide has full details on what’s needed.
Can You Craft the Grey Wolf Armor?
Yes, some pieces can be crafted at a Blacksmith — but you need the right manual first.
The Grey Wolf Leather Boots can be crafted using Thin Hide and Thick Hide once you’ve found and examined the crafting manual Leather Armors of the World Vol. II. Thin Hide and Thick Hide both drop from wildlife in the Hernand region and beyond. This is worth knowing if you want the boots before you reach Chapter 7 or before you find Diederik.
The Grey Wolf Cloth Cloak (note: this is a cloth version, not the leather one) can also be crafted after finding and reading Cloth Armor of the World, Vol. I. The same manual unlocks recipes for other cloth Grey Wolf pieces. If you want the leather cloak specifically, you still need Lola or Diederik.

Tips for Getting the Set
A few things worth knowing before you go:
Prioritize the chest piece. If you’re short on silver, buy the chest armor first. It gives the most defense and is the visual centerpiece of the outfit. Generic leather boots still function fine in the meantime.
Silver conversion helps. If you have plenty of Copper but not enough Silver, visit a Money Changer in Pailune or Demeniss to convert. Small fee, but it solves the currency gap quickly. Our how to farm Silver guide also covers other earning methods.
The cold weather bonus is real. The Grey Wolf set gives a moderate warmth bonus, which matters in Pailune’s snowy northern region. It slows the rate at which your stamina drains in cold environments — a small but genuine perk on top of the stat bonuses.
Refine it early. The cloak especially starts at 0 base defense. Getting it refined at the Smithy as soon as possible brings it up to a usable level for the mid-game. The Hernand Smithy run by Turnali is a reliable spot to get this done.
Don’t mix up the cloth and leather versions. There are Grey Wolf Cloth pieces and Grey Wolf Leather pieces. The cloth versions give Ice Resistance. The leather versions give Lightning Resistance. They’re different items with different stat profiles — make sure you’re buying or crafting the right type for your build.
Where Does the Grey Wolf Set Fit in the Gear Progression?
It’s a solid mid-game set that bridges the gap between early exploration gear and the more powerful equipment you’ll start finding in Chapters 8 and 9. The Lightning Resistance is specifically useful in Pailune, which has a lot of lightning-based enemies, and in later boss fights that use electrical attacks.
It’s not designed to carry you to endgame. Once you start clearing harder content, you’ll be looking at sets like the Icewing, Skyblazer, or Helfryn sets — our individual guides for each of those cover the full locations. But for the mid-game stretch, Grey Wolf punches above its weight, especially after refinement.
