TL;DR
- The Light of the Battlefield is a six-piece Legendary armor set exclusive to Damiane
- All pieces are found in hidden treasure chests — no quests required
- Four pieces are in the Crimson Desert region; two are in the city of Varnia
- You can collect them in any order
- The set has a striking white-and-gold design with eagle wing motifs
If you’re playing as Damiane in Crimson Desert, the Light of the Battlefield set is one of the best-looking armor collections in the game. It gives her a full white-and-gold Valkyrie look, complete with eagle wing pauldrons and a laurel wreath helm.
The good news? You don’t need to complete any quests to get it. Every piece sits in a hidden treasure chest waiting for you to find it. The bad news is that the Crimson Desert region is big, sandstorm-heavy, and designed to make you miss these spots if you don’t know where to look.
This guide covers all six pieces — exact locations, how to reach each chest, and a few tips to make the hunt easier.
What Is the Light of the Battlefield Set?
The Light of the Battlefield is a Legendary-rarity armor set built for Damiane, one of the three playable characters in Crimson Desert alongside Kliff and Oongka. The set has six pieces in total:
- Plate Helm
- Plate Armor (chest piece)
- Plate Boots
- Plate Gloves
- Cloth Cloak
- Earring
Five of the six pieces (everything except the earring) are Legendary rarity. The design is pure white cloth with golden plate segments, eagle wing motifs on the shoulders, and a helm shaped like a golden laurel wreath. It’s one of the most popular sets in the game, and for good reason — it makes Damiane look like a war angel.
All pieces are found in standalone treasure chests spread across the Crimson Desert region and the city of Varnia. You can collect them in any order.
If you’re still putting together Damiane’s gear and want to see what other unique armor exists, check out the Scorchflame Flame Knight Armor Set locations and the Reed Devil Armor and Hollow Visage Sword as well.
All Light of the Battlefield Set Locations
1. Plate Helm — Trivana Sound (Near Outlaw Canyon)

Location: Underneath a large rock pillar at Trivana Sound, north of the “C” in “Crimson Desert” on the map.
Head north of the “C” marker in “Crimson Desert” on your map and pass through Outlaw Canyon. You’ll come to a large rock pillar structure. The treasure chest is hidden underneath the north side of this rock.
Approach the pillar from the south side and circle around it to find the opening. The gap can be easy to miss from certain angles. Once you’re under the north face of the rock, the chest will be right there.
Bonus tip: There’s also an Abyss Artifact on top of this rock. Climb up after grabbing the helm so you don’t have to come back later.
2. Plate Armor (Chest Piece) — Howlsands Camp
Location: Inside a small cavern on the east side of Howlsands Camp, north of the “M” in “Crimson Desert” on the map.

Head to Howlsands Camp, which sits above the “M” in “Crimson Desert” when you look at your map. This area has enemies everywhere, so be careful as you move through it.
Face east from the camp and walk into the sandstorm. Visibility gets very low here, which makes the cave entrance easy to miss. Look for a narrow crevice in the rock wall and squeeze through it. The treasure chest with the plate armor is inside the small cave.
Tip: There’s an Abyss Cresset just to the west of the camp. If you glide down from it, you can reach the cave area faster and with a better angle.
The sandstorm is the main challenge here. Use your minimap and scan for chest icons if they appear within your detection range.
3. Plate Boots — Desert Shipwreck (Trader’s Expanse)
Location: Inside the Desert Shipwreck in the Trader’s Expanse area, north of the Crimson Desert region.

Continue north past the Crimson Desert region until you hit the Trader’s Expanse. You’ll find a large shipwreck here. Go to the west side of the shipwreck and find the entrance to the middle floor. Head to the back of that level and you’ll find the treasure chest containing the Plate Boots.
On the map, the wreck sits below the “E” in Trader’s Expanse. The boots have a Damage Reduction 1 passive, which is one of the more useful combat-oriented bonuses in the whole set.
4. Plate Gloves — South District of Varnia
Location: Behind a half-closed gate in the south district of Varnia.

To reach Varnia, head to the far northeast corner of the entire map. Travel north past the Trader’s Expanse following the main road — don’t cut across the terrain or you’ll lose time. Varnia is the northernmost city in Pywel and you can’t miss it if you stay on the road.
Once inside Varnia’s south district, look for a ledge where two beggars are sitting. You can vault behind them. From below that ledge, face south. You’ll see a gate that’s only halfway closed. Crouch and squeeze through the gate. The treasure chest with the Plate Gloves is inside.
5. Cloth Cloak — Cave of the Sun (Varnia Gorge)
Location: Inside the Cave of the Sun, behind a waterfall at the bottom of Varnia.

Still in Varnia, head to the south end of the city where you’ll find Varnia Gorge. Look for a waterfall. You’ll see a balcony-like ledge above the falls. Jump off this elevated area and glide down toward the left side — there’s a narrow platform beside the waterfall where you need to land.
Once you’re on the platform, face the waterfall directly and use the Stab move (R1 + Triangle on PlayStation) to dash through the falling water. This breaks through what looks like a solid barrier and opens up the Cave of the Sun behind it. The treasure chest with the Cloth Cloak is inside.
The Cloth Cloak gives Ice Resistance Level 3, which is genuinely useful in cold areas and against ice-type enemies and bosses. If you’re having trouble with ice resistance in the game, the Crimson Desert ice resistance and frost protection guide has more detail on that.
6. Earring — How to Get It
The Light of the Battlefield Earring is a metal earring with vertically arranged red gemstones. It completes the visual theme of the full set.
Like all accessories in Crimson Desert, the earring can be refined at a Blacksmith to increase its stats. For more detail on how the accessory system works overall, the Crimson Desert accessories guide covers rings, earrings, necklaces, and cloaks in full.
Recommended Collection Order
You can grab every piece in any sequence you like, but this route matches natural map progression and saves you from backtracking:
- Plate Helm — Trivana Sound (early Crimson Desert exploration)
- Plate Armor — Howlsands Camp (nearby to the east)
- Plate Boots — Desert Shipwreck at Trader’s Expanse (continue north)
- Plate Gloves — South Varnia (when you first arrive in the city)
- Cloth Cloak — Varnia Gorge / Cave of the Sun (explore Varnia’s lower district)
- Earring — Refine or acquire separately
Tips for Finding Every Piece
Ring belltowers first. Belltowers clear the fog of war across large sections of the map. Ringing them before you start hunting chests saves a lot of time. See all bell tower locations to plan your route. You can also check the fog of war bell locations guide for the full picture.
Use fast travel aggressively. Abyss Nexus plates scattered around the world let you fast travel once activated. The Howlsands area and Varnia both have nearby plates. Activate them first. More on how to fast travel in Crimson Desert if you need a refresher.
The sandstorm at Howlsands Camp is the hardest part. Visibility drops significantly. Trust your minimap more than your eyes in that area, and look for the crevice in the rock wall rather than an obvious cave entrance.
You need the Stab move to enter the Cave of the Sun. Don’t skip upgrading your skills — without Stab you simply can’t access the waterfall cave in Varnia. Check out the best skills to level up first if you’re planning your progression.
Enemies in Howlsands Camp are no joke. If you’re going in early, make sure your gear is solid. The best early build and best early items guides can help you prepare.
Refine everything you get. All Legendary armor in Crimson Desert reaches the same stat ceiling at max refinement, so the set works as both a cosmetic choice and a functional one. Learn how to reinforce and upgrade equipment to get the most out of every piece. You’ll also want to know how to get better equipment overall as you push into later content.
What Makes the Set Worth Getting?
The Light of the Battlefield is more than just a pretty armor set. Here’s why it’s worth hunting down:
Visual design. The white-and-gold color scheme with eagle wing pauldrons is one of the cleanest looks in Crimson Desert. If you care about how Damiane looks while playing, this is the set.
Cloth Cloak utility. The Ice Resistance Level 3 on the cloak is one of the best passive resistances for cold-region content and ice bosses.
Boot passive. The Damage Reduction 1 stat on the Plate Boots provides real mitigation in extended fights.
No quest requirement. You can collect all five armor pieces from open-world chests without progressing the main story to a specific point. This means you can grab them at almost any stage of the game.
Set completionist satisfaction. Every piece is a mini adventure of its own — crawling under rocks, crouching through half-shut gates, and dashing behind waterfalls. Crimson Desert rewards exploration, and this set is one of the best examples of that.
