TL;DR
- The Cradle of Truth is an Abyss Restoration Challenge in the Crimson Desert region, accessed through the Spire of the Sun Abyss chain.
- The puzzle requires moving a burning battery across a laser-filled chasm to a docking slot on the other side.
- Do not try to push it along the ground — the lasers will kill you. The correct method is flying over the lasers.
- Use Axiom Force (L3) to grab the battery, push it to the map edge, then use Jump + Triple Force Palm + Flight (Square/X) to carry it over the lasers through the air.
- Dunk the battery in the water on the other side to cool it, place it in the slot, then use Jump + Force Palm on the Abyss Gate to activate it.
- Reward: Abyss Artifact and access to the next Abyss area.
Abyss puzzles in Crimson Desert test every movement skill you have. The Cradle of Truth takes that to another level. Most players hit this puzzle and spend a long time trying to push the battery across the floor through gaps in the laser pattern — and failing repeatedly. The actual solution skips the floor entirely and carries the battery through the air above the lasers.
Once you know the trick, this puzzle can be done in under a minute. Here is the complete step-by-step guide.
What Is the Cradle of Truth?
The Cradle of Truth is one of Crimson Desert’s 40 Abyss Restoration Challenges — the floating sky island puzzles reached by switching to the Sky Map view. It sits in the Abyss chain connected to the Spire of the Sun, which is completed as part of Chapter 9 in the northeast Crimson Desert region.
Like all Abyss puzzles, completing it rewards an Abyss Artifact (a Skill Point) and unlocks the Skybridge to the next area. For a full list of all Abyss puzzle locations and the chains they belong to, see our guide on all Crimson Desert Sanctum locations and the Vault of Vengeance Abyss Puzzle guide for context on how the Abyss chains connect.
How to Reach the Cradle of Truth
The Cradle of Truth is found in the Crimson Desert region’s Abyss chain, connected through the Spire of the Sun. Before you can reach it, you need to progress through Chapter 9 of the main story and complete the Spire of the Sun as part of the Unwavering Steps main quest.
The Spire of the Sun is located in the Forebearer’s Barrens area of the northeast Crimson Desert region. Completing it and entering its Abyss Gate puts you into the Abyss chain that eventually leads to the Cradle of Truth, after passing through intermediate Abyss areas including the Nest of Valor.
To navigate to the Cradle of Truth on the Sky Map: press R3 / Right Stick / Mouse Wheel on the world map to switch to the Sky Map view. Abyss islands appear as icons in the sky layer. Once you have the Cradle of Truth’s fast travel point unlocked, you can teleport directly to it.
Why the Normal Approach Fails
Most players approach the Cradle of Truth by trying to push the battery along the ground through gaps between laser bursts. This almost always fails for three reasons.
The battery starts in a burning state. Carrying it manually on the ground while it is hot damages your health continuously. The laser grid fires in tight patterns that leave almost no window to move while staying on the floor. And because the battery is massive, it does not slide easily — if your timing is off even slightly, you take a laser hit or lose the battery off the edge.
The laser beams are set at ground level. They are designed specifically to catch players trying to move along the floor. The intended solution gets you and the battery above that level entirely.
Cradle of Truth Puzzle Solution — Step by Step
Step 1 — Activate the Abyss Nexus

When you arrive, activate the Abyss Nexus fast travel point first. This gives you a fallback if you run out of stamina and fall into the void during the battery transport. You do not want to redo the full approach if you have not saved your position here.
Step 2 — Grab the Burning Battery with Axiom Force

Walk to the left side of the entrance area. You will see the large burning battery on the ground. Use Axiom Force (hold L3 / hold TAB on PC) to grab it. With it tethered to you, use the Push button (R2/RT) to shove the battery as far forward as you can while standing at the edge of the starting platform. Get it as close to the void edge as possible without letting it fall.
Step 3 — Launch Into the Air With Triple Force Palm

This is the most important step. With the battery still held by Axiom Force, perform a standard jump toward the abyss. While in the air, rapidly press Force Palm (R3 / Right Stick / Mouse Wheel) three times in quick succession. This Triple Force Palm propels Kliff significantly higher into the air than a normal jump — think of it as a aerial burst that gives you the height you need to clear the laser grid below.
Step 4 — Enter Flight Mode Immediately at Peak Height
At the very top of your Triple Force Palm height, immediately press and hold Square (PS5) / X (Xbox) / the assigned Flight key on PC to enter Flight Mode. Because the battery is still tethered to you via Axiom Force, it lifts off the ground and floats alongside you as you fly. At this altitude you are physically above the reach of all the ground-level lasers. Steer toward the far side of the platform.
Step 5 — Manage Stamina During the Flight
Watch your stamina bar as you cross. If it drops below roughly 20%, look for any intermediate floating platforms between your starting point and the destination. If you need to rest mid-crossing, press Circle / B to release the battery, land on a safe platform, then repeat the Jump + Triple Force Palm process to get back airborne with the battery in tow. Do not let go of the battery over the open void.
Take your time. There is no time limit on this puzzle. Rest on a platform if needed, regain stamina, then continue the aerial crossing.
Step 6 — Dunk the Battery in the Water

Once you reach the far side, look to the right. There is a small pool of water. Carry the battery to it and submerge it briefly to cool it down. The burning state is what makes the battery drain your health on contact — dunking it in the water removes that effect and makes the next step much easier.
Step 7 — Place the Battery in the Slot
With the cooled battery in hand, move it to the empty docking slot nearby. Position it carefully above the slot. Use Jump + Force Palm while directly above the slot to knock the battery down into place. You will hear a sound or see a visual confirmation when it locks in correctly.
Step 8 — Activate the Abyss Gate
With the battery docked, the Abyss Gate in the center of the area will power up. Use Jump + Force Palm on the large circular Abyss Gate structure to activate it. The gate hums to life and the Abyss Artifact manifests — collect it to earn your Skill Point. The Abyss Gate also opens the path forward to the next area in the chain.
Alternative Method — Slow Ground Push (Not Recommended)
If the aerial Flight method is proving too difficult due to low stamina or limited Flight skill level, there is a slower ground-based alternative.
The lasers in the Cradle of Truth fire in a pattern — approximately three seconds on, two seconds off. During the off phase, there are small indented safe zones in the floor where the battery can temporarily rest without being hit. You can push the battery step by step between safe zones, timing each push to the off phase of the laser cycle.
This method is significantly slower and carries a high risk of death if your timing is off even half a second. Your character also takes ongoing damage from the battery’s burning state the entire time. Only use this approach if you have high Heat Resistance gear equipped and plenty of healing items. Our guide on how to cook the best healing food in Crimson Desert is worth checking before attempting the slow method.
Once the lasers are deactivated after the puzzle is complete, you can walk freely across the floor to collect any missed loot.
Tips for Completing the Cradle of Truth
Upgrade your Stamina before attempting this. The aerial crossing requires sustained flight. If your Stamina stat is low, you will drop the battery mid-crossing. Check our guide on how to get max stamina in Crimson Desert before heading in.
Make sure you have the Flight ability unlocked. Flight is a late-game movement skill. If you do not have it yet, you cannot use the aerial method. Progress through the story and Abyss chain until Flight is available before attempting this puzzle.
Activate the Nexus before anything else. Do not touch the battery until you have stood on the Abyss Nexus platform. If you fall into the void without it activated, you respawn far away and have to travel back.
Do not panic when low on stamina. Rest on intermediate platforms rather than dropping the battery in an unsafe location. Take the crossing in sections if needed.
Use Force Current if you have it. Force Current, found just below Force Palm in Kliff’s skill tree, can detonate objects at range and also helps move the battery more efficiently in some setups. It is a useful skill to have before entering any late-game Abyss area. Our guide on how to use Axiom Force in Crimson Desert explains the full range of Axiom abilities.
Reward
Completing the Cradle of Truth puzzle gives you one Abyss Artifact — a Skill Point used to unlock or upgrade skills in the skill tree. It also opens the Skybridge to the next Abyss area in the chain and permanently unlocks the fast travel point for future visits.
