Reality Check Triumph: What It Is and Why It Matters

The Reality Check Triumph was added in Monument of Triumph (Update 9.7.0, June 9, 2026) under the Stories: Campaigns Triumph category. Completing it once rewards you with 15 Legendary Marks, which you can spend at the four Tenet vendors in the Tower Courtyard.

It sits alongside other campaign Triumphs like Into Darkness (complete any Beyond Light campaign mission or Empire Hunt) and Fragments of Stasis (purchase all Aspects, Fragments, and abilities from the Exo Stranger). How to Unlock Exo Challenges

Exo Challenges are not available from the moment you land on Europa. You need to progress through a specific chain of quests to unlock them. Here is the full unlock sequence:

Step 1: Complete the Beyond Light Campaign

The Beyond Light campaign on Europa must be completed before Exo Challenges become available. As of Monument of Triumph, the Beyond Light campaign is free and accessible to all players. You do not need to purchase anything extra. If you are new or returning, head to Europa from the Destinations screen and follow the campaign missions.

Step 2: Complete Born in Darkness

After the campaign, Variks gives you a questline called Born in Darkness. This multi-part quest introduces you to Stasis, the Europa destination, and the Exo Stranger. You need to work through this questline to progress toward unlocking Exo Challenges. It involves visiting the Exo Stranger in the Beyond area on Europa — the same location where you unlock Stasis Aspects, Fragments, and abilities.

Step 3: Complete the Old Secrets, New Challenges Quest

Once Born in Darkness is done, Variks offers a quest called Old Secrets, New Challenges. This quest takes you to the Bray Exoscience building on Europa, where you interact with a quest flag in the control room lobby. Doing so launches your first Exo Challenge simulation. Completing it for the first time unlocks the weekly Exo Challenge launch node on the Europa Director map permanently.

How to Start an Exo Challenge

Once unlocked, launching an Exo Challenge is simple:

• Open the Director and navigate to Europa.
• Look on the left side of the Europa map, near the Bray Exoscience area. You will see a Deep Stone Crypt symbol.
• Hover over the symbol and select Launch.
• The challenge loads immediately as a solo or matchmade activity.

Check which of the three challenges is active before launching. If you need all three done eventually for other Stasis-related Triumphs, note which one is live this week and plan around the rotation.

Simulation: Agility — How to Complete

Simulation: Agility is the movement and platforming Exo Challenge. It tests how quickly and accurately you can navigate an obstacle course full of disappearing platforms, Vex enemies, and environmental puzzles. There is no timer per se, but the platforms appear and vanish in a rhythm that requires constant movement forward.

What Happens in Simulation: Agility

• You enter the simulation and immediately face a series of elevated platforms that appear and disappear rapidly.
• Move forward through the jumping puzzle sections. Staying still too long means a platform disappears under you.
• Clear out Goblins and Hobgoblins that spawn throughout. They are not the focus but can interrupt your momentum.
• After each jump section, interact with a Vex Conflux to hack it open and unlock the path forward. Destroy nearby Vex boxes to drop shields blocking your path.
• Repeat — climb, clear enemies, destroy boxes, hack conflux — through three escalating sections.
• The final section enters a large black building with a portal at the top. Fight through to the portal and go through.
• In the final area, keep jumping on pillars, destroying boxes, and hacking confluxes. Harpies and Hydras spawn in large numbers here. Keep moving.
• Drop the shields in the centre to complete the challenge and collect the loot chest.

Tips for Simulation: Agility

• Use a Hunter with high Mobility or any class with a double jump. Extra air time helps with the trickier platform timing.
• Do not rush so fast that you outpace the platform spawn cycle. Watch the rhythm before each jump.
• Prioritise destroying Vex boxes over fighting every enemy. You need the boxes down to progress — the ads are secondary.
• If you fall, you respawn at the start of that section. It is forgiving — just get back in position and continue.
• Movement-enhancing Exotic armor (like Transversive Steps for Warlock or Stomp-EE5 for Hunter) speeds the run up noticeably.

Simulation: Survival — How to Complete

Simulation: Survival combines cold weather traversal with combat. The main mechanic is the Biting Cold debuff, which stacks as you move through cold areas and eventually kills you if you do not warm up. It is the most mechanically unique of the three challenges and catches players off guard if they do not know about the debuff.

What Happens in Simulation: Survival

• You enter the simulation and start moving through an icy environment with gaps and jumps between sections.
• As you traverse, you gain stacks of the Biting Cold debuff. It can stack up to 10 times. At max stacks, it starts dealing damage over time.
• To remove Biting Cold stacks, stand near fire spots scattered throughout the environment, or kill enemies and pick up the drops they leave. Enemy kills produce warm orbs that reduce stacks.
• Balance moving forward quickly while also managing the debuff. Let it get too high and you will die to the cold before you reach the combat section.
• Reach the end of the traversal section, defeat the Vex enemies waiting there, and collect the loot chest to finish.

Tips for Simulation: Survival

• Do not sprint past enemies. Killing them generates the warm drops you need to keep Biting Cold under control. Enemies are your best tool for staying warm.
• Stick near fire spots whenever they are accessible. Even a brief pause by one removes multiple stacks faster than kills alone.
• Never let Biting Cold reach 10 stacks without immediately dealing with it. At 8 stacks, start prioritising warmth over forward movement.
• Bring a strong primary weapon for fast enemy clears. The more rapidly you kill enemies, the more warm drops appear and the safer your Biting Cold management becomes.
• Restoration from Solar grenades or Healing Grenades can offset damage taken from high Biting Cold stacks if you push too far before warming up.

Simulation: Safeguard — How to Complete

Simulation: Safeguard is the defence wave challenge. Your job is to protect two Simulated Ziggurat Platforms from waves of incoming Vex enemies. It is the most straightforward of the three challenges in terms of mechanics but requires decent situational awareness to juggle two platforms at once.

What Happens in Simulation: Safeguard

• You enter the simulation and must defend two Ziggurat Platforms — one on the east side and one on the west side of the arena. Friendly bots stand on each platform.
• Vex enemies arrive in waves and attempt to climb onto the platforms. Every Vex enemy that gets on a platform reduces its Simulated Ziggurat Stability percentage.
• If either platform’s stability drops to 0%, you fail and must restart the challenge.
• Stability regenerates slowly during clear moments — so even a partial drop is not permanent as long as you clear enemies quickly.
• Watch for Vex Confluxes that appear around the edges of the arena at certain points. When they become vulnerable, shoot them to cause nearby Vex to malfunction and stall their advance.
• After several waves, a Simulated Gatelord boss spawns from a large portal, accompanied by stronger Vex reinforcements.
• Defeat the Simulated Gatelord to end the challenge. Keep your distance from it — it is powerful and punishes aggressive play. Slowly chip away its health. Use your Super when it gets low to finish it reliably.
• Collect the loot from the chest on the nearby platform.

Tips for Simulation: Safeguard

• Position yourself in the centre of the arena where possible. This lets you react to Vex approaching either platform without having to sprint across the full map.
• Keep circling. Vex attack from all directions, not just one side. Standing still at one platform means the other is being ignored.
• Prioritise Vex that are already on or climbing toward a platform over distant enemies. Direct threats to stability are more dangerous than far-away ones.
• Destroy Confluxes as soon as they become vulnerable. They stall entire groups of Vex simultaneously and are your best tool for managing heavy waves.
• For the Simulated Gatelord boss, keep moving to avoid its attacks. Explosive weapons (rocket launchers, grenade launchers) work well for consistent damage at range. Save your Super for the final phase of its health bar.
• Stasis builds work well here. Freezing or slowing Vex groups buys you time to deal with threats near the platforms. If you have unlocked Stasis from completing the Beyond Light campaign, equip Stasis for this challenge specifically.

Exo Challenge Rewards in Monument of Triumph

In the current Monument of Triumph economy, the primary reward for completing an Exo Challenge is the Reality Check Triumph completion itself and its 15 Legendary Mark payout. The activity no longer awards Powerful or Pinnacle gear in the traditional power-level sense — that reward structure was deprecated in earlier updates.

• Travel through the Asterion Abyss into the Beyond area — the large enclosed space with the Pyramid architecture.
• The Exo Stranger stands near the entrance to the main chamber.
