What Is the Elegant Snegurochka Statue Puzzle in Genshin Impact?
The Elegant Snegurochka Statue puzzle — officially listed as the Misaligned Statues challenge — is a hidden quest on the second floor of the House of Hesperides in Snezhnaya’s Fellfrost Peak. It involves two decorative statues of Snegurochka, a figure from Snezhnayan folklore, that have been placed facing the wrong direction. Each statue has a riddle note attached to it describing a specific type of forest. Your job is to read the clue, identify the matching painting somewhere in the room, and rotate each statue until it faces its correct painting.
Getting both statues correctly aligned completes the Misaligned Statues quest and rewards an Exquisite Chest. It is one of more than fifteen hidden challenges inside the mansion, and completing all of them eventually reveals every Collectible Painting in the building. If you have not yet unlocked the House of Hesperides or want a full overview of every challenge inside, check out the All House of Hesperides Challenges Guide for a complete walkthrough across all floors.
How to Access the House of Hesperides Second Floor
Before you can reach the Elegant Snegurochka Statues, you need access to the House of Hesperides and specifically its second floor. Here is what is required:

- Complete Archon Quest Prologue: Act III – Song of the Dragon and Freedom to unlock Snezhnaya and receive the Eye of Graeae gadget.
- Progress through Archon Quest Chapter VII: Act I – Everwinter Without Mercy and complete Gunfire in the Silent Lands to unlock Snezhnayan world quests.
- Start and progress through the Hesperides of Love and Hate world quest chain. This unlocks the Invitation to the “Ritual”, which gives you access to enter the mansion itself.
- Once inside, the Elegant Snegurochka Statues are on the second floor (F2). Take the stairs up from the Main Floor and head toward the statue room. The bedroom with the Mountain Paintings puzzle is in the same area to the west — both challenges can be cleared in a single visit to this floor.
While you are working through the mansion and collecting chests, you may also want to tackle the Lukov’s Hot Tea Quest Guide in nearby Fellfrost Peak and the Hide-and-Seek Jack Frosts Quest Guide on the Main Floor below.
Where to Find the Elegant Snegurochka Statues

The two Elegant Snegurochka Statues are located in a dedicated room on the second floor of the House of Hesperides. After climbing the stairs from the Main Floor, head into the statue room. You will immediately notice that both statues are turned sideways or facing the wrong direction — neither is pointing at the correct artwork. Two paintings hang in the room and are positioned nearby: one depicting pine trees on the wall and one depicting white birch trees near the guardrail on the floor.
Each statue has an interactable note attached to it. Read both notes before touching the statues — the clues are necessary to know which painting each statue needs to face.
How to Read the Riddle Clues
Each riddle note poetically describes a scene from Snezhnayan folklore involving the character Snegurochka entering a forest. The key detail in each note is the type of tree mentioned. Here is what each note says and what it means:
- Statue 1 Note: “I shall walk into the forest depths, and in those depths, I shall transform and dwell amongst the green pines.” This statue must face the pine tree painting.
- Statue 2 Note: “I shall walk into the forest depths, and in those depths, I shall transform and stand amongst the white birches.” This statue must face the white birch painting.
The clues are intentionally literal. Green pines means pine trees. White birches means birch trees. There is no extra layer of interpretation — the notes tell you directly which painting belongs to each statue. Find the matching artwork in the room and that is where the statue needs to point.
Elegant Snegurochka Statue Puzzle Solution

Statue 1 — Rotate to Face the Green Pine Tree Painting
The first statue’s note mentions green pines. Find the painting of pine trees — it is hung on the wall in the statue room. Once you have its position, interact with the corresponding statue and select Rotate from the interaction menu.
The statue begins turning automatically in a continuous circle. Watch carefully as it rotates and press Stop at the exact moment the statue is directly facing the pine tree painting on the wall. The statue does not automatically lock into position when it reaches the correct angle — if you miss the timing and it continues past, wait for it to complete another full rotation and stop it on the next pass.
Once it is correctly aligned and you press Stop, the statue locks in place facing the pine tree painting. The first part of the puzzle is complete.
Statue 2 — Rotate to Face the White Birch Painting
The second statue’s note mentions white birches. Find the white birch tree painting — it is positioned on the floor near the guardrail in the room, at a lower angle than a typical wall hanging. Interact with this statue and select Rotate.
As before, the statue turns automatically. Watch the rotation and press Stop precisely when the statue faces the white birch painting near the guardrail. The lower floor placement of this painting means the angle is slightly different from the first — look downward toward the guardrail area to confirm the correct facing direction before you stop the rotation.
Once this statue is also correctly aligned and locked in, both statues are facing their correct paintings. The puzzle registers as complete.
Reward — Exquisite Chest
With both Elegant Snegurochka Statues correctly oriented, the Misaligned Statues challenge completes and an Exquisite Chest spawns in the room. Open it to collect Primogems, Intricately Patterned Buttons, Adventure EXP, Mora, and other Snezhnayan materials.
The Intricately Patterned Buttons you earn from this and other House of Hesperides chests can be spent at the Jack Frost Goodie Shop in Jack Frost Village. Items available include the A Touch of Frost in Scorching Summer! weapon skin, the Construct Appearance: Jack Frost cosmetic for Prime Ice Constructs, and various level-up materials.
About Snegurochka — Lore Background
Snegurochka is a central figure in Snezhnayan folklore within Genshin Impact’s world-building. She is a spirit or maiden of the snow — a graceful, cold-touched figure who wanders the frozen forests of Snezhnaya and is deeply connected to the land’s icy nature. Her character is drawn from real Slavic mythology, where the Snow Maiden is a supernatural being born from winter itself and associated with both beauty and tragedy.
In the world of Genshin Impact, Snegurochka statues appear throughout Snezhnayan architecture as a symbol of the nation’s cultural identity and its relationship with winter. The House of Hesperides, belonging to Grand Duchess Pavlina, features these statues prominently as part of its decor — which is why a puzzle built around correctly placing them in their proper orientations fits naturally into the mansion’s theme. The riddle notes attached to each statue reference Snegurochka entering the forest and transforming, a poetic nod to her folkloric association with nature and the wild winter woods.
Tips for the Elegant Snegurochka Statue Puzzle
- Read both notes before rotating anything. The notes are the only source of information about which statue pairs with which painting. Skipping them and guessing based on which statue is closest to which painting is a coin flip. Take ten seconds to read both clues first.
- Identify both paintings before you start rotating. Knowing exactly where the pine tree wall painting is and where the white birch floor painting near the guardrail is positioned means you can stop the rotation with precision instead of second-guessing mid-spin.
- Watch the statue’s facing direction carefully during rotation. The statue turns at a steady pace. Keep your camera positioned so you can see both the statue’s front and the target painting at the same time. This gives you the clearest view of when the alignment is correct.
- Do not panic if you miss the stop. Missing the correct angle is not a failure. The statue simply continues rotating and comes back around. Wait for the next pass and stop it more confidently the second time. There is no penalty for overshooting.
- The white birch painting is on the floor — look down. Many players miss this because paintings are usually on walls. The white birch painting is positioned near the guardrail at a downward angle. Adjust your camera downward toward the floor level before stopping the second statue’s rotation to make sure it is genuinely facing this lower painting and not a wall behind it.
- Clear the bedroom puzzle next door. The Mountain Paintings puzzle in the bedroom to the west of the statue room is on the same floor. After completing the Misaligned Statues challenge, immediately walk next door and solve the bedroom puzzle too — both are on F2 and can be done in a single trip.
Other House of Hesperides Challenges on the Second Floor
The Misaligned Statues is just one of several challenges on the second floor of the House of Hesperides. Here are the others worth completing during the same visit:
- Mountain Paintings Puzzle (Bedroom Quest): Located just west of the statue room on the same floor. Rotate four Mountain Paintings correctly to open a hidden chamber containing a Precious Chest, a Remarkable Chest, a Cryoculus, and a Collectible Painting. A previous interaction with Lazoreva during the VIP Lounge quest may have already given you a hint about this room.
- Suspicious Ceiling Quest: A secret chamber accessible from the second floor involving a Cryo Totem puzzle that rewards additional chests and a hidden room.
