TL;DR
- The Mountain Paintings Puzzle — also called the Bedroom Quest — is on the second floor of the House of Hesperides, west of the Elegant Snegurochka Statues.
- Four Mountain Paintings need to be rotated into the correct orientation. Three can be rotated by interacting with them directly.
- The large painting is stuck — build a Cube Prime Ice Construct underneath it to free its mechanism, then rotate it into place.
- The medium painting requires climbing partway up the wall to reach it. The last small painting is behind the bookshelf — climb the bookshelf to access it.
- Correctly rotating all four spawns a Common Chest and opens a Secret Chamber containing a Precious Chest, Remarkable Chest, Cryoculus, and Collectible Painting.
- The Precious Chest may also contain a Remnant Incense Guide — Fellfrost Peak, which connects to another hidden challenge in the region.
What Is the Mountain Paintings Puzzle in Genshin Impact?
The Mountain Paintings Puzzle — referred to in-game as the Bedroom Quest — is one of the most rewarding hidden challenges inside the House of Hesperides in Fellfrost Peak, Snezhnaya. Unlike most puzzles in the mansion that reward a single chest, this one opens a fully hidden chamber packed with multiple rewards. Completing it requires rotating four Mountain Paintings in a bedroom on the second floor into their correct orientations, with one of the four needing a Prime Ice Construct to unlock before it can be rotated at all.
Players who have already completed the VIP Lounge quest and spoken with Lazoreva inside the VIP room may have received a vague hint about a secret in the nearby bedroom — but even without that dialogue, the puzzle is fully completable by any Traveler who reaches the second floor. This guide covers everything: where to find the bedroom, how to handle the stuck large painting, and how to reach the awkward placements of the other three.
If you have not yet solved the Elegant Snegurochka Statue Puzzle in the same area of the second floor, complete that one first — it is right next door and both challenges can be cleared in a single visit. For the full overview of all mansion challenges across every floor, check out the All House of Hesperides Challenges Guide.
How to Access the House of Hesperides and the Bedroom
To reach the Bedroom Quest, you need access to the mansion and its second floor. Here is what is required:
- Complete Archon Quest Prologue: Act III – Song of the Dragon and Freedom to unlock Snezhnaya and receive the Eye of Graeae gadget.
- Progress through Archon Quest Chapter VII: Act I – Everwinter Without Mercy and complete Gunfire in the Silent Lands to unlock Snezhnayan world quests.
- Start the Hesperides of Love and Hate world quest chain and progress until you receive the Invitation to the “Ritual” — this is your key to entering the House of Hesperides.
- Once inside, take the southern staircase from the Main Floor up to the second floor. The bedroom containing the Mountain Paintings is located west of the Elegant Snegurochka Statue room on F2.
Make sure your Eye of Graeae has Kresnik Energy before entering — you will need at least one Cube construct to free the large painting’s stuck mechanism. Refill from Mini Kresnik Torches or Kresnik Kristall Ores outside if your energy is low.
Where to Find the Bedroom
Teleport to the Mountain Mansion Front Hall (House of Hesperides Main Floor) waypoint and take the southern stairs to the upper floor. Once on the second floor, head west past the Elegant Snegurochka Statue room. The bedroom is the next room to the west — enter it and you will immediately see the four Mountain Paintings hung and placed at various heights and positions around the space.
If you are coming from the VIP Lounge after completing Lazoreva’s request, the route is even shorter. Exit the VIP Lounge, turn right, and the bedroom is directly beside it.
How to Solve the Mountain Paintings Puzzle

The goal is simple: rotate all four Mountain Paintings into their correct upright orientation. Each painting shows a Snezhnayan mountain scene. When a painting is in the wrong position, the scene appears tilted or upside down. When it is correct, the mountain scene sits upright and the painting registers as aligned.
Three of the four paintings can be interacted with directly. The fourth — the large painting — has a stuck mechanism that must be freed first using a Prime Ice Construct before it will rotate.
Step 1 — Free and Rotate the Large Mountain Painting
Start with the large Mountain Painting Frame on the wall. Interacting with it normally and attempting to rotate it will not work — the frame does not move. Paimon comments that a mechanism behind the large frame appears to be stuck and cannot turn freely.
To fix this, open your Prime Ice Construct menu and build a Cube construct directly underneath the large painting. Placing the Cube beneath the frame lifts it slightly and frees the stuck mechanism behind it, allowing the frame to rotate. Once the Cube is in place, interact with the large painting again and select Rotate. Rotate it until the mountain scene is correctly upright, then press Stop to lock it in. The large painting is now solved.
Step 2 — Rotate the Small Mountain Painting on the Opposite Wall
Turn around from the large painting and look for the small Mountain Painting on the opposite wall. This one has no special requirement — interact with it directly, select Rotate, and stop it when the mountain scene is in the correct orientation. It is the most straightforward of the four.
Step 3 — Climb the Wall to Reach the Medium Mountain Painting
The third painting is the medium Mountain Painting hung at a higher position on the wall. It is placed too high to interact with from the floor. Climb partway up the wall beside it to reach the interaction prompt, then select Rotate and stop it in the correct position. A Launching Platform Prime Ice Construct can also help you reach the correct height if climbing alone is not enough.
Step 4 — Climb the Bookshelf to Reach the Final Small Painting
The fourth and final painting is a small Mountain Painting positioned behind the bookshelf in the room. It is tucked out of sight from the main floor area. To reach it, climb the bookshelf itself — treat it like a climbable surface and scale up it until you can see and interact with the painting hidden behind it. Rotate it into the correct orientation and press Stop to lock it in.
Once all four paintings are correctly aligned — the large one freed with the Cube, the small one on the opposite wall, the medium one from the wall climb, and the hidden one behind the bookshelf — the Bedroom puzzle is complete.

Rewards — Common Chest and Secret Chamber
Solving the Mountain Paintings Puzzle immediately spawns a Common Chest in the bedroom as an instant reward. But the bigger payoff comes from what the puzzle also unlocks — a hidden Secret Chamber behind the bedroom wall that was previously sealed.
Inside the Secret Chamber you will find:
- Precious Chest — the most valuable chest type in the mansion
- Remarkable Chest — a high-quality chest with strong material drops
- Cryoculus — a collectible needed for Cryo Statue of the Seven upgrades in Snezhnaya
- Collectible Painting — one of the mansion’s hidden artworks tied to the overall House of Hesperides completion tracker
The Precious Chest has a chance to contain a Remnant Incense Guide — Fellfrost Peak. This is a key item connected to a separate secret hidden within Fellfrost Peak. Collecting all three Fellfrost Peak Remnant Incense Guides unlocks a secret area with an additional chamber that contains Dust of Enlightenment and 5-Star Artifacts. This makes the Bedroom Quest one of the highest-value challenges in the entire mansion — it chains directly into another major reward chain if you collect all three guides.
The Lazoreva Connection — VIP Lounge Hint
Players who completed the VIP Lounge quest on the second floor and helped Lazoreva by placing a Matryoshka Doll Prime Ice Construct behind the bar will have received a cryptic hint in her dialogue about a secret nearby. That hint refers to this very bedroom and its hidden chamber. Lazoreva’s clue is not required to solve the puzzle — you can discover and complete it entirely on your own — but her dialogue is the mansion’s in-world signal pointing you toward this room’s secret.
The same hidden area can also be spotted from the side room associated with the Seating Arrangements quest involving Zlatov and the other guests, giving players another environmental clue that something is concealed behind the bedroom wall.
What Is the Remnant Incense Guide — Fellfrost Peak?
The Remnant Incense Guide — Fellfrost Peak is one of three guides needed to unlock a major hidden chamber in Fellfrost Peak outside of the House of Hesperides. The other two are found in different locations across the sub-region. Collecting all three activates the sealed secret chamber, which contains:
- Dust of Enlightenment — a rare talent-level upgrade material
- 5-Star Artifacts — high-level artifact rewards
This is one of the best hidden rewards in Snezhnaya and a strong reason to fully clear the House of Hesperides and surrounding Fellfrost Peak content rather than stopping after the main quest.
Tips for the Mountain Paintings Puzzle
- Bring Kresnik Energy before entering the bedroom. You need at least one Cube construct to free the large painting. If you are running low on Eye of Graeae energy, refill at a Mini Kresnik Torch near the mansion entrance before heading upstairs.
- Place the Cube directly under the large frame. The Cube needs to be positioned beneath the painting — not beside it or in front of it. Placing it correctly will trigger Paimon’s dialogue confirming the mechanism is now free. If nothing happens, reposition the Cube closer to the base of the frame.
- Use the bookshelf as a ladder. The fourth painting is behind it at an angle that makes it invisible from the floor. Climb straight up the bookshelf face and the painting becomes reachable from above the shelf’s top surface.
- All four paintings stop rotating manually. Unlike some rotating puzzles in Genshin Impact that auto-lock, these do not snap into position. You press Stop yourself. Watch the painting carefully as it rotates and stop it the moment the mountain scene looks upright. If you overshoot, wait for the next rotation pass.
- Do the Elegant Snegurochka Statue puzzle first if you have not. It is right next door in the same floor area and also rewards an Exquisite Chest. Clearing both in one visit to the second floor saves you a trip back later.
- Collect the Cryoculus from the Secret Chamber. Once the hidden chamber opens, the Cryoculus inside counts toward your Snezhnayan Cryoculus total for Statue of the Seven upgrades. Do not leave without picking it up.
Other House of Hesperides Second Floor Challenges
The second floor of the House of Hesperides has several challenges beyond the Bedroom Quest. Here are the others on the same floor:
- Misaligned Statues (Elegant Snegurochka Statues): Two statues facing the wrong direction, each needing to be rotated to face its matching forest painting. Rewards an Exquisite Chest. Located just east of the bedroom — see our full Elegant Snegurochka Statue Puzzle Guide for the step-by-step solution.
- VIP Lounge Quest: Find a VIP Pass and use it to enter the VIP Lounge. Help Lazoreva inside using a Matryoshka Doll Prime Ice Construct for an Exquisite Chest and a clue pointing toward this bedroom’s secret.
- Seating Arrangements Quest: Pick the correct seating arrangement for Abuzova’s four guests across the main hall and side room. One of the environmental clues for the hidden bedroom chamber can also be spotted from this area.
- Suspicious Ceiling Quest: Use a Grappling Gun to pull down a suspicious section of the ceiling and access a hidden chamber above the second floor. Inside, solve a Cryo Totem puzzle based on the number of Ikhor dolls around each monument for a Precious Chest and more hidden rewards.
