Who Is Chiz in NTE?
Chiz is an S-Rank Cosmos character in Neverness to Everness. She works as the Lobby Manager at Pink Paws Bank in the New Herland District, and she is one of the strongest main DPS characters in the game — completely free for every player.
She is a close-to-mid-range damage dealer who uses a unique resource called Grain. Her basic attacks and the Blighted Vale skill build Grain on hit. The more Grain she has stored, the more damage she deals when using her Redirect Skill. Her Ultimate triggers a Grain Price chart that fluctuates up and down, and using her Redirect Skill at the peak price maximizes her burst damage output.
What makes Chiz especially useful is that her basic attacks also generate Fons — up to 250,000 per day at the start, and up to 500,000 per day once you hit Tycoon Level 25. She is a DPS who also earns you money while she fights. No gacha pulls are needed for any of her copies or her weapon. Everything comes from City Tycoon progression.

How To Unlock City Tycoon in NTE
City Tycoon does not unlock from the very start. You need to reach a certain point in the main story first.
Progress the main story until Adler gives you the guide quest called “Good Morning, Hethereau.” This triggers right after you clear the anomaly in the photo studio. Once you have the quest, go to Bridge Crossings Plaza and look for Chiz standing near the Pink Paws Bank.
Talk to her. She will offer you a debit card and walk you through the basics of the City Tycoon system. After this short introduction, the City Tycoon menu unlocks and stays accessible from that point on. On PC, you can open it any time by pressing F5.
It is worth unlocking this as early as possible. The Tycoon system runs on its own stamina called City Stamina, which resets weekly. The sooner you start spending it, the more Fons you earn over time — and Fons are what fuel Tycoon progression.
How City Tycoon Levels Work
Each Tycoon level has two requirements you must meet before you can advance.
- Total Fons Earned: A cumulative amount of Fons your account has earned across everything — quests, hobbies, cafe income, combat, and more. This is a lifetime total, not a current balance, so spending your Fons does not set you back.
- Objectives: Specific tasks tied to each level. These range from buying a vehicle, purchasing an apartment, increasing your House Comfort level, leveling up your cafe, or reaching certain exploration milestones in different regions of Hethereau.
Both gates must be cleared before the level-up becomes available. The Fons requirement grows at each level, and so does the difficulty of objectives. Once you meet both, a level-up popup appears with your rewards listed. Check the Tycoon rank panel regularly to track your progress on each gate.
City Tycoon has a maximum of 45 levels. Reaching the cap fully maxes out Chiz and her Arc.
How To Get Chiz for Free in NTE
Chiz is unlocked as a milestone reward inside the City Tycoon system. You do not need to roll on any banner to get her. Just level up your Tycoon rank.

Tycoon Level 18 – First Copy of Chiz
Your first copy of Chiz arrives at Tycoon Level 18. She appears as a Character Card in the level-up reward popup. Select it and she is added to your roster immediately. Most players can reach this level within one to two days of active play.
From this point, Chiz is yours. You can level her up, build her gear, and add her to your team right away. She works as either a main DPS or a sub-DPS depending on your team setup.
Additional Chiz Copies (Awakenings)
NTE uses an Awakening system where duplicates of a character unlock bonus effects and increase their overall power. Chiz can be fully maxed to Awakening 6 (A6) entirely through Tycoon milestones. Each copy you earn from leveling up counts toward her Awakening progression. By the time you reach Tycoon Level 45, you will have collected all the duplicates needed to fully Awaken her — with no gacha spending required.
How To Get Chiz’s Arc – Contemplative Cat
Contemplative Cat is Chiz’s signature Arc (weapon) and her best-in-slot option. It grants up to 25% Cosmos DMG based on the amount of Fons currently stored, which pairs directly with Chiz’s Fons-generating playstyle.
Tycoon Level 21 – First Copy of Contemplative Cat
The first copy of Contemplative Cat becomes available at Tycoon Level 21. Just three levels after you unlock Chiz herself. This is a fast turnaround, so prioritize pushing from Level 18 to 21 as soon as you have Chiz in hand.
Full T5 Refinement
Like Chiz herself, additional copies of the Contemplative Cat Arc drop from further Tycoon milestones. By reaching Level 45, you collect enough copies to bring Contemplative Cat to maximum refinement at T5. A T5 signature Arc on a fully Awakened Chiz is the end goal — and it costs zero gacha currency.
How To Level Up City Tycoon Fast
The key to fast Tycoon progression is earning Fons consistently and completing objectives as they appear. Here is how to do both efficiently.

Earn Fons Through Every Available Source
- Hethereau Hobbies: Delivery jobs, taxi driving, fishing, package runs — all of these pay Fons and count toward your total earned. Check the Hethereau Hobbies guide for the full breakdown.
- Cafe Management: Set up your cafe, assign employees, and keep it restocked. Your cafe earns passive Fons even when you are not playing. See the cafe ownership guide to get started.
- City Stamina Activities: Every City Stamina point you spend earns 1,000 Fons. The stamina pool resets weekly, so spend it every week without letting it sit idle.
- Combat with Chiz: Once you have her, Chiz’s Blighted Vale skill earns Fons on every hit. Keep her in your active team to stack up to 250,000 Fons per day from combat alone (500,000 from Tycoon Level 25 onward).
- Side Quests and Commissions: Many quests in Hethereau pay Fons as rewards. Do not skip them.
Front-Load Your Objectives
- Buy a four-wheeler vehicle as soon as you hit Tycoon Level 2. This clears the Level 3 objective immediately. Check the car guide if you are not sure how vehicle purchases work.
- Buy your first apartment early. Property ownership is a recurring objective across multiple Tycoon levels. The sooner you own property, the sooner you can place Anomaly Furniture for passive bonuses. See the house buying guide for the steps. You can also check the Anomaly Furniture guide to get the most from your property.
- Check the City Tycoon menu often. The objective rows show exactly what you need next. Do not wait until your Fons bar is full — knock out objectives in parallel so both gates clear at the same time.
Note on Tycoon Level 16
At Level 16, the City Stamina cost for activities doubles. The stamina cap also rises to 500 at this point, so the higher drain is offset by the bigger pool. Just be aware of this when planning your weekly spending so you do not run out of stamina mid-week unexpectedly.
What Else Does City Tycoon Unlock?
Beyond Chiz and her Arc, the City Tycoon system opens up a large amount of content as you level through it. Here are the main features:
- Properties: Apartments and villas across Hethereau that you can furnish. Higher Comfort levels earn better rewards and let you invite characters to live with you. Each property also comes with Anomaly Furniture that provides real gameplay bonuses.
- The Cafe by Origen: Your own cafe business. Assign employees, set menus, and generate passive Fons income. Popularity score scales with decoration and menu quality.
- Garage and Vehicles: Buy and customize cars, bikes, and more. Some activities and objectives require owning specific vehicle types.
- Hethereau Hobbies: Jobs like delivery driving, fishing, package runs, and taxi work. Each earns City Stamina rewards and Fons.
- Racing: Competitive races across six-stage circuits. Co-op racing against other players unlocks at higher Hunter Levels.
- Hunter Exchange: Trade Fons for Annulith, Tri-Keys, ascension materials, and Beetle Coins. Stock expands as you level up.
- Wealth Board: A weekly leaderboard auction that unlocks at Level 12, where you bid against NPC residents for rotating goods.
The full City Tycoon system is explained in detail in the NTE City Tycoon guide.
Is Chiz Worth Using?
Yes — Chiz is considered one of the top DPS options in NTE at launch. She is fully free, fully maxable without spending, and her kit is self-sustaining. She generates Grain to increase her own damage, generates Fons to support Tycoon progression, and her signature Arc amplifies everything she does.
Her best team setup pairs her with a Lakshana unit and an Anima unit to trigger the Blossom and Remora cycle reactions. A premium pairing is Chiz, Hathor, and Jiuyuan, which covers all three elements needed for the Charge triple-cycle. If you do not have those characters yet, Zero works in the support slot for energy and healing.
Even at her base copy from Level 18, she is a strong carry. Each Awakening from the additional Tycoon copies pushes her further. By the time you hit Level 45, she is fully built with no additional investment needed.
