What Is the Lightspeed Tagger Commission in NTE?

Lightspeed Tagger is a Common Anomaly Commission in Neverness to Everness. It is one of the earliest commissions you will encounter and it works as a hands-on tutorial for the entire Anomaly system. You are introduced to it through the tutorial quest called “Good Morning, Hethereau!”

Your target is an Anomaly known as Bopp Pop. Finding and defeating it is all you need to do to complete this commission. It is beginner-friendly and a great entry point into the world of Anomaly hunting in Hethereau.

How to Unlock Lightspeed Tagger

You cannot access this commission immediately from the start. Here is what you need to do first:

  • Clear the Main Story Prologue – Part 2.
  • After finishing the prologue, the tutorial quest “Good Morning, Hethereau!” will become available.
  • Accept and track this quest. It will guide you to the Pink Paws Bank Branch, located north of Wertheimer Tower.
  • During this quest, you will have a conversation with Chiz, which generates the Lightspeed Tagger Anomaly Commission.

Once the commission appears, follow the purple quest marker and the game will guide you straight to the location.

Where to Find Bopp Pop

Bopp Pop is located south of Iris Bridge. Follow the purple quest marker from the commission screen and it will lead you there. The Anomaly is not hidden — the marker takes you directly to it once the commission is active.

This is one of the easier locations in the game to reach early on. You do not need to unlock any special map areas or teleport points to get there. Just follow the route shown on your minimap after accepting the commission.

How to Complete Lightspeed Tagger

Completing this commission is simple. Here are the steps:

Good Morning Hethereau
Good Morning Hethereau
  • Step 1: Accept the quest “Good Morning, Hethereau!” and track it.
  • Step 2: Head to the Pink Paws Bank Branch north of Wertheimer Tower as directed.
  • Step 3: Talk to Chiz. This triggers the Lightspeed Tagger Anomaly Commission.
  • Step 4: Follow the purple quest marker south of Iris Bridge.
  • Step 5: Defeat Bopp Pop in combat.
  • Step 6: Contain the Anomaly after the battle to claim the Arc reward.

Make sure you contain Bopp Pop after winning the fight. If you skip containment, you will miss out on the Cosmos Daze, Wild Reverie Arc. Defeating alone is not enough — containment is what hands you the weapon.

Tips for Defeating Bopp Pop

Bopp Pop is a tutorial-tier fight, so it is not very difficult. But there are a few things worth knowing before you jump in.

No Level Scaling in This Fight

Unlike the Episode Quests, this battle does not scale to your level. This means the fight stays at a fixed difficulty. If you find it tough, spend a few minutes upgrading your characters first using any Fons you have collected so far. Going in with stronger stats makes the fight much easier.

Use Critical Dodge

By the time you reach this commission, the game will have already introduced you to the Critical Dodge mechanic. Use it actively during the Bopp Pop fight. Timing your dodge just before an attack lands triggers a Critical Dodge, which gives you a window to deal extra damage safely.

Build Your Cycle Rate

Keep attacking to fill your Cycle Rate gauge. Once it is full, switch to another character and trigger their Esper Cycle. This is your biggest damage window in combat. Use it whenever available against Bopp Pop to deal large chunks of damage quickly.

Break the Enemy

Keep hitting Bopp Pop to drain its Break Meter. Once the meter is depleted, Bopp Pop enters a Broken state. In this state, it cannot move or attack, and takes increased damage for a short period. Focus your hardest-hitting moves here.

Lightspeed Tagger Rewards

Completing the Lightspeed Tagger commission gives you a solid package of resources, especially for early-game progression. Here is everything you get:

  • Arc: “Cosmos Daze, Wild Reverie” (requires containment)
  • Hunter Level EXP x 200
  • Annulith x 30
  • Tomorrow Paint x 1
  • Fons x 10,000
  • Silver Carrota x 40
  • U-00NE x 20
  • Beetle Coin x 5,000
  • Anomaly Material Selection Box I x 4

The Fons and Annulith alone make this worth doing right away. Use the Fons to level up your City Tycoon progress — reaching City Tycoon Level 2 unlocks Hethereau Hobbies, which gives you access to City Stamina activities. To get more Annulith quickly, see our Annulith farming guide.

About the Cosmos Daze, Wild Reverie Arc

The main prize from Lightspeed Tagger is the Cosmos Daze, Wild Reverie Arc. This is an A-Class Gas-type Arc that is particularly useful for characters who cast Support Skills frequently.

Its passive skill is called “Bopp” — a nod to the Anomaly you defeated to earn it. The Bopp passive increases the wearer’s damage dealt by 18% for 10 seconds after casting a Support Skill. It can trigger at most once every 20 seconds.

It is a solid early-game weapon for any support-skill-heavy character. If your team relies on frequent Support Skill rotations, this Arc will give you a reliable damage boost throughout most fights. Pair it with Gas-aligned Drive Blocks and KongMu Gear for the best results.

Check our Arc weapon tier list for NTE to see how it stacks up against other weapons in the game.

What Happens After You Complete Lightspeed Tagger?

Once you finish this commission, you have cleared your first Anomaly in NTE. This opens the door to the full Anomaly Commission system. From here, you can check the Anomagram on your World Map to browse all available commissions across Hethereau.

The Fons you earn from Bopp Pop can also be used to reach City Tycoon Level 2, which unlocks Hethereau Hobbies and City Stamina — a key part of the game’s life-sim side.
