How to Get the Legendary Hazmat Suit in MW4 DMZ

    TL;DR

    • The Hazmat Suit is a Legendary gear item in MW4 DMZ that protects you from radiation damage inside irradiated zones.
    • The main location is the Haneul Nuclear Reactor in the northeast corner of Hajin — suits hang on wall hooks inside the reactor buildings.
    • A confirmed spot is down the stairs in the reactor hallways at coordinates x: 2878, y: 1921.
    • You can also find one in the basement of the western reactor building or inside random Irradiated Zones that spawn each deployment.
    • Hazmat enemies near the reactor can drop their suit when killed — a faster but less reliable method.
    • Fire Stations across Hajin also contain Radiation Gear as loot.
    • The suit is discarded when you exfil — it does not carry over between deployments.
    • Always bring a Gas Mask and Radiation Blockers before heading to the reactor — the area is deadly without them.

The Haneul Nuclear Reactor is one of the most dangerous areas in MW4 DMZ. Walking in without protection means radiation ticks your health down until you’re dead. The Hazmat Suit is the item that changes that — it lets you stay in irradiated zones for extended periods and properly explore the reactor for its high-value loot. This guide covers every confirmed location and everything you need to know before making the run.

What the Hazmat Suit Does in MW4 DMZ

The Hazmat Suit is classified as a Legendary gear item in MW4 DMZ. Wearing it provides radiation protection that lets you survive inside irradiated zones at the Haneul Nuclear Reactor and other radiated locations across Hajin without constantly losing health.

A few key things to understand about how it works:

    • It significantly reduces radiation damage rather than making you fully immune. In heavily irradiated zones — the red zones — radiation damage is still present, just reduced to a manageable level compared to taking it raw.
    • The suit can break during a deployment. Take enough radiation hits or damage and its protective effect degrades.
    • It is discarded when you exfil. The Hazmat Suit does not carry over between deployments. You need to find a new one every run.
    • For maximum protection, pair the Hazmat Suit with a Gas Mask. Together they provide the best coverage for extended reactor exploration.
    • Without the suit, you need Radiation Blockers (a consumable) and a Gas Mask just to survive basic exposure — and even then you’re on a timer.

The suit is essential for completing missions tied to the reactor, including the Reactor DRC Locker Key objectives and the Operation Fallen Ember story mission. If you’re running any content in that area, you want a suit before you start.

There are three reliable ways to find a Hazmat Suit in MW4 DMZ. None of them are guaranteed on every run, which is why it helps to know multiple locations before you drop in.

Location 1: Haneul Nuclear Reactor (Main Source)

The Haneul Nuclear Reactor sits in the northeast corner of Hajin at approximately coordinates x: 2878, y: 1921. This is the primary place to look for a Hazmat Suit every deployment.

The reactor is split into two sections — Reactor 01 and Reactor 02. The suits are found hanging on wall hooks inside the reactor hallways and rooms. Specific spots to check:

    • Reactor hallway stairwell — Head to the coordinates above, find the set of stairs, and go down into the hallways below. A Hazmat Suit may be hanging on the wall in the corridor.
    • The computer room — If you’re progressing through objectives tied to the Remove the Uranium mission, the computer room contains a Hazmat Suit hanging on the wall opposite the computer terminal.
    • Basement of the western reactor building — Another confirmed spawn point. The suit hangs on a wall inside the basement level of the western building. Go down and check the walls as you navigate through.

The suit spawn is not guaranteed at any single spot. If you don’t find one at the stairwell, move to the computer room or the western basement. Search all three before giving up on a given run.

One important preparation note: the reactor area is High threat with radiation. Do not enter without a Gas Mask at minimum. Bring Radiation Blockers as a backup consumable. You can craft a Gas Mask from the DMZ FOB’s 3D Printer from DMZ level 26, and Radiation Blockers once you find their recipe in a match.

Location 2: Kill Hazmat Enemies Near the Reactor

Some AI enemies patrolling around the Haneul Nuclear Reactor are wearing Hazmat Suits. Kill one of these hazmat-clad enemies and they will drop their suit as loot for you to pick up and equip.

This method is faster if you get lucky with an enemy spawn, but it’s not guaranteed. Hazmat enemies aren’t always present at every location around the reactor perimeter. The areas around the SAM site and the dock near the reactor are good spots to scan for these enemies. Avoid pushing into the red zones to hunt them — the radiation makes it hard to fight effectively, and getting surrounded by AI in a high-radiation area goes wrong fast.

This approach is also relevant for the Suit Breach DMZ Order, which specifically requires you to find or kill enemies in hazmat suits. If you’re working through that order, the reactor perimeter is your best hunting ground.

    Location 3: Random Irradiated Zones

In addition to the reactor, Irradiated Zones spawn randomly across the Hajin map with each deployment. These are smaller radiated areas that appear in different locations each match. Hazmat Suits can be found as loot inside these zones as well.

The catch is that the zones themselves require radiation protection to safely enter — meaning you’d ideally already have a suit or Radiation Blockers to explore them safely. If you encounter an Irradiated Zone early in a deployment and have consumable protection, it’s worth checking for a suit before heading to the reactor.

Location 4: Fire Stations Across Hajin

Fire Stations scattered around the Hajin Exclusion Zone contain Radiation Gear as loot. These buildings are lower-threat than the nuclear reactor itself, which makes them a safer option for grabbing a suit without needing to push into the most dangerous part of the map first. Check the DMZ police station locations guide as a reference for how these points of interest are distributed across the map — fire stations follow a similar distribution pattern.

How to Survive the Reactor Run

Getting to the Hazmat Suit is only half the challenge. The Haneul Nuclear Reactor is a High-threat zone full of radiation and aggressive AI. Here’s how to go in prepared.

What to Bring Before You Go

    • Gas Mask — Essential. Craft one at the FOB’s 3D Printer or buy one from the buy station. The Durable Gas Mask (Epic rarity, ~$1,000 cash) lasts longer and is worth getting if you’re planning an extended reactor run.
    • Radiation Blockers — These consumable items mitigate radiation for 60 seconds per use. Carry a stack as backup for when your Gas Mask runs out or you move into heavier radiation zones. Cost roughly $100 from certain areas.
    • Armor Plates — The reactor area has a lot of AI. You’ll be taking fire while trying to navigate to the suit location, so come in with full armor.
    • Strong primary weapon — Check the DMZ Gunsmith weapons guide for the best loadout options going into high-threat areas.

    Approach the Reactor Safely

Land outside the radiation zone first. Equip your Gas Mask before crossing into the irradiated area — not after. Once inside, move directly toward the stairwell location first (coordinates x: 2878, y: 1921), then sweep to the computer room and western basement if the first spot is empty.

Move quickly between objectives. The radiation is manageable with a Gas Mask and Radiation Blockers, but lingering too long — especially in the red zones — will eat through your protection. Once you have the suit, equip it immediately for extended radiation immunity for the rest of that deployment.

    Squad or Solo?

The reactor is easier with a squad. One player can equip the suit and absorb radiation while others maintain gas masks. If you’re solo, bring extra Radiation Blockers and treat the run as a quick smash-and-grab — locate the suit, equip it, and use the suit’s protection to complete any additional reactor objectives you have.

If you’re building toward solo DMZ runs in general, make sure your Operator has strong survival Traits before pushing the reactor. The Possum Trait (Warfighter tree) is especially valuable here — a free self-revive after death in a radiation zone can save your entire run. See the best Traits in MW4 DMZ guide for the full breakdown.

What to Do Once You Have the Hazmat Suit

With the suit equipped, the reactor opens up considerably. Here’s what’s worth doing while you’re protected:

    • Explore the deep reactor rooms for high-rarity loot that you can’t safely reach otherwise. The reactor consistently drops Epic and Legendary items in its deeper areas.
    • Fight the Chemist Lieutenant, who spawns inside the reactor’s radiation zone. He drops valuable 3D Printer ingredients and a Dog Tag on death. You need radiation protection to fight him at all.
    • Complete the Reactor DRC Locker Key objectives — the DRC Locker Key guide covers the full process.
    • Power the lab door if you’re working on that quest — see the lab door and robot cores guide for the steps.
    • Run Operation Fallen Ember — the entire story mission takes place in heavy radiation and requires the suit to complete safely. The mission takes you through both reactor buildings and ends with a boat extraction along the coast.

Remember: the suit is discarded on exfil. Whatever run you use it on is the only run it applies to. Make it count by completing as much reactor content as possible while the protection is active.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Hazmat Suit guaranteed to spawn at the reactor?

No. Suit spawns at the reactor wall hooks are not guaranteed every deployment. Check all confirmed locations — the stairwell hallway, the computer room, and the western basement — before concluding the suit isn’t there. If none are present, look for hazmat enemies to kill or check any Irradiated Zones on the map that deployment.

Does the Hazmat Suit make you immune to radiation in MW4 DMZ?

Not fully. The suit reduces radiation damage significantly, letting you survive and explore irradiated zones. In the heaviest red zones, you will still take some radiation damage over time. The suit buys you time — it’s not a complete immunity. Pair it with a Gas Mask for the best combined protection.

Can you carry the Hazmat Suit out of DMZ after exfil?

No. The Hazmat Suit is discarded when you exfil. It does not transfer to your next deployment. You must find a new one every time you want radiation protection.

Where do Radiation Blockers come from in MW4 DMZ?

Radiation Blockers are a rare consumable that mitigates radiation effects for 60 seconds. They can be found as loot around the reactor area from hazmat enemies, looted from containers in the area, or crafted via the 3D Printer once you find their recipe during a match.

What missions require the Hazmat Suit in MW4 DMZ?

Several reactor-based missions strongly require one. Operation Fallen Ember takes place entirely in heavy radiation. The Remove the Uranium mission objective also leads into a high-radiation zone. The Suit Breach DMZ Order involves interacting with hazmat enemies directly.
