Topaz’s core mechanic is the Proof of Debt debuff. She marks one enemy with it, and that marked target takes 50% increased damage from follow-up attacks. Every time an ally hits the Proof of Debt target with a follow-up attack, Numby’s action is advanced forward by 50%, letting Numby take more turns and deal more damage. In follow-up teams packed with characters like Feixiao, Robin, or Aventurine, Numby fires off constantly throughout every cycle.

Her role in 4.3 is primarily as a sub-DPS and follow-up attack enabler. She does not perform well outside of FUA compositions — but inside them, she provides outstanding value that other units simply cannot replicate. She ages very well as more FUA characters join the roster.

Topaz & Numby Kit and Skills Explained

Basic ATK – Deficit

Deals Fire damage to a single enemy equal to 100% of Topaz’s ATK. Low priority. You will rarely use Basic ATK in combat since Skill is almost always the better option for repositioning Proof of Debt and dealing follow-up hits. Save your SP for when Topaz actually needs to reapply Proof of Debt.

Skill – Difficulty Paying?

Topaz transfers the Proof of Debt debuff to a new target. Upon being marked, that enemy takes 50% increased damage from all follow-up attacks — not just Topaz’s and Numby’s. This benefits your entire follow-up team. Immediately after the debuff is applied, Numby attacks the new target and deals Fire damage equal to 150% of Topaz’s ATK. Crucially, this Skill use counts as a follow-up attack, which means it also advances Numby’s action forward by 50% when it hits the Proof of Debt target.

One key passive: if no enemy currently has Proof of Debt when any ally takes their turn or starts their action, Topaz automatically applies the debuff to a random enemy. This keeps Proof of Debt up even if Topaz is slow to act.

Ultimate – Turn a Profit!

Numby enters the Windfall Bonanza! state, massively increasing its damage multiplier by 150% and its CRIT DMG by 25%. During this state, every time the Proof of Debt target gets hit by any ally’s Basic ATK, Skill, or Ultimate, Numby’s action is advanced forward by 50% on top of the usual follow-up advance. Numby fires two attacks during Windfall Bonanza! before exiting the state. This is a huge burst window. Numby is summoned automatically at the start of combat. It has a base SPD of 80 and acts entirely independently on the action bar, separate from Topaz’s turns. When Numby takes action, it attacks the enemy marked with Proof of Debt and deals Fire damage equal to 150% of Topaz’s ATK. This hit counts as a follow-up attack. Every time any ally hits the Proof of Debt target with a follow-up attack (excluding Numby’s own turn), Numby’s action is advanced forward by 50%. In FUA-heavy teams, this can be triggered multiple times per turn, turning Numby into an extremely fast-cycling sub-DPS.

• A2 – Financial Gain: When Numby attacks an enemy already afflicted with Proof of Debt, Topaz regenerates 10 Energy. This is crucial for fast Ultimate cycling, especially at E0 before the E2 Eidolon.

The best non-limited option for Topaz. Obtainable using Herta Bond currency from the Simulated Universe store. 3. Sleep Like the Dead (5-Star Alternative)

Gives a large CRIT DMG bonus. The secondary effect increases ATK when Topaz or her follow-up attacks miss a CRIT hit, which is a conditional bonus that becomes less relevant when CRIT Rate is built correctly. Good if you already own it. Not worth pulling specifically for Topaz over Worrisome, Blissful.

Topaz sits in the middle of all of this, keeping Proof of Debt active and firing Numby constantly during every cycle.

Strong Team – Dr. Ratio + Topaz + Robin + Aventurine

Dr. Ratio is Topaz’s other top-tier DPS partner. He requires 3 debuffs on a target to trigger his follow-up attack — Proof of Debt counts as one of them, and Topaz’s E1 Debtor debuff counts as a second. With Robin amplifying every follow-up and Aventurine sustaining the team, this composition remains strong and accessible for players who have Dr. Ratio but not Feixiao.

Strong Team – Yunli + Topaz + Robin + Aventurine

Yunli‘s counter-attack playstyle synergizes naturally with Topaz. Every time Yunli gets hit and counter-attacks, that follow-up advances Numby. Robin amplifies both characters’ follow-ups. Aventurine provides the shields Yunli needs to absorb hits safely. A great alternative to Feixiao for players who own Yunli.

Budget Team – Dr. Ratio + Topaz + Tingyun + Gallagher

A fully accessible FUA team that doesn’t require Robin or Aventurine. Tingyun provides ATK buffs and energy for Dr. Ratio. Gallagher keeps the team alive and generates SP. Topaz and Numby handle single-target damage and debuff the Proof of Debt target. This team is solid in Memory of Chaos single-target content on a moderate budget.

Other Teammates Worth Considering

• Moze — A 4-star FUA character who advances Numby through follow-ups. A budget alternative to Feixiao in follow-up teams.
• March 7th (Hunt) — Another solid FUA sub-DPS who triggers Numby advances regularly. Good 4-star option.
• Jade — Erudition follow-up unit who pairs well with Topaz in Pure Fiction, where AoE matters more. Their follow-ups trigger each other’s advances.
• Huohuo — Healing alternative to Aventurine. Works if you need energy regen in the sustain slot instead of shields.

1. Talent — Powers up Numby’s base damage. Numby is the source of most of Topaz’s output, so this is always first priority.
2. Ultimate — Higher Ultimate level increases Numby’s Windfall Bonanza! damage multiplier and CRIT DMG boost. Second priority.
3. Skill — Higher Skill level increases Numby’s damage on Proof of Debt reapplication hits. Third.
4. Basic ATK — Lowest priority. Almost never used in normal rotation.

Topaz & Numby Rotation Guide – How to Play Them

Topaz’s rotation is one of the more passive in HSR — most of the damage happens automatically through Numby. Your job is to keep Proof of Debt active on the right target and use Ultimate at the right time.

1. At the start of combat, Numby summons automatically. Proof of Debt is applied to an enemy either by Topaz’s first Skill or automatically by her passive if an ally acts first.
2. Focus all ally attacks on the Proof of Debt target. Every follow-up attack that hits that target advances Numby’s action forward by 50%.
3. When Topaz takes her turn, use Skill to reapply Proof of Debt if needed or to target a different priority enemy. The Skill hit counts as a follow-up attack, so it also advances Numby.
4. Once energy is ready, use Ultimate to put Numby into Windfall Bonanza!. Keep piling follow-ups and Basic ATKs onto the Proof of Debt target during this window to maximize Numby’s action advances while Windfall is active.
5. Repeat the cycle. In teams with Robin, Feixiao, or Aventurine, Numby will fire extremely frequently — sometimes multiple times per full team rotation.

The key rule: never let the Proof of Debt target die before Numby gets to attack. If you switch targets with Skill, do it when the previous target is already dead or when a new priority target needs to be marked.

Is Topaz Worth Pulling in 4.3?

Yes — if you already have or plan to build a FUA team. Topaz is one of the best sub-DPS and FUA enabler units in the game. She ages extremely well as more follow-up characters join the roster. Every new FUA character makes Topaz stronger because they generate more Numby advances.

She is not worth pulling if you have no FUA teammates and no plans to build any. Outside of follow-up compositions, her damage falls off sharply. But if you have Feixiao, Dr. Ratio, or Yunli, Topaz slots into their teams and immediately makes them significantly stronger.
