How to take the vent to open the door for Greenway in 007 First Light is a key objective on the executive 2nd floor during the Knightfall mission. Bond and Greenway are separated by a locked east wing door. This guide shows you how to use the maintenance room vent to get to the other side and complete the High Ground challenge.

Where Does This Happen?
After infiltrating the Webb Industries building in the Knightfall chapter of 007 First Light, James and Greenway will eventually reach the executive 2nd floor. The door to the east wing will be locked, and James will need to get to the other side to open it up for Greenway.
This is the second locked door puzzle you encounter when moving through Webb Industries alongside Greenway. The game gives you a few ways to approach it, but the vent route through the Maintenance Room is the one that completes the High Ground challenge. Make sure to equip the Laser Strap gadget on Bond at the start of the Knightfall chapter, as it is a vital requirement to complete the High Ground challenge in 007 First Light.

Step 1 — Wait for Greenway to Head to the Restroom
During the next section of the chapter, Greenway will enter a restroom and heavily encourage you to progress via the missing wall panel. Instead of doing that, go to the maintenance room on your right.
Do not follow the game’s suggested path through the wall panel here. The High Ground challenge requires the vent route specifically, so head right to the Maintenance Room when the prompt appears.
Step 2 — Kick Open the Maintenance Room Door
Kick open the door of the Maintenance room. Inside, use the Laser Gadget to open the vent at the top.
There is a hackable spot in the ceiling. Open the vent using your Laser Strap and climb inside. There are also electronics inside the room you can use to recharge your gadgets if your battery is running low before tackling this step.
Step 3 — Cut Open the Vent With the Laser Strap
Use the Laser Strap gadget on the vent to open it up. This allows James to get on top of the equipment crates and climb up into the duct.
Highlight the ventilation duct using Q-Lens first so you can see the exact point to target. Once the Laser Strap cuts it open, climb up onto the crates stacked beneath it and pull yourself up into the duct.
Step 4 — Crawl Through and Drop Into the East Wing
Keep heading forward through the duct until you automatically drop to the other side of the east wing door. Be ready for a fight, as the security guard will be jolted awake by James’ sudden entry. Dropping into the east wing will complete the High Ground challenge in 007 First Light Knightfall.
The challenge completes the moment Bond exits the vent and lands in the east wing. You do not need to do anything specific — just follow the duct to the end and drop through.
Step 5 — Take Down the Guard
The guard who wakes up is alone in the room. Take down the guard quickly to continue. Use a gadget to disorient them first if you prefer a clean takedown without taking damage. This is not a stealth section — the drop triggers the guard regardless, so engage confidently.
Step 6 — Hack the Door Controller to Let Greenway Through
Once you have taken out the security guard, turn around and highlight the door controller on the east wing’s door, and use the Q-Watch to hack and open it. Once the doors are open, Greenway will be able to walk inside, and you will be able to progress through the rest of the section.
The door controller is on the wall near the east wing door. Use Q-Lens to highlight it if you cannot spot it straight away. One hack with the Q-Watch is all it takes — Greenway will walk through once it opens.
Bonus — Collectible Inside the Vent
There is a collectible hidden along this exact route. Open the vent using your Laser Strap, climb inside, and you will find Card #19: Banner of Roses. Again, the next door will be closed after this section, but first have a discussion with Greenway to complete a challenge. After that, vault over the side railing near the fountain and use the ledges to go over to the other side.

Tips for This Section
- Equip the Laser Strap before starting Knightfall. You cannot open the vent without it. Check your loadout at the start of the mission and make sure it is in one of your gadget slots.
- Recharge inside the Maintenance Room. If your battery is low before cutting the vent, use the electronics inside the room to top it up before you climb.
- Do not panic when the guard wakes up. The drop into the east wing will always alert the guard — it is scripted. The challenge completes regardless, so just deal with the guard and move on.
- Grab Card #19 as you crawl through. It is right there in the duct. There is no reason to miss it.
