- There are 9 Espers in Final Fantasy Resonance: Siren, Ramuh, Carbuncle, Leviathan, Titan, Ifrit, Shiva, Odin, and Bahamut.
- Only Siren is unlocked through the main story. All others require exploration, side quests, or a Colosseum win.
- Only Fina can summon Espers in battle. Each summon costs 50 MP and stays on the field for three turns before unleashing a finishing move.
- Carbuncle is the only Esper that requires no fight — just a puzzle with three Ruby Fragments.
- Bahamut is the last Esper and only appears once you have all other seven. He has 200,000 HP and no elemental weakness.
- Collecting all 9 Espers unlocks the Sovereigns of the Planet trophy and achievement.
Espers are the summon system in Final Fantasy Resonance, and they’re one of the most satisfying parts of the game to collect. Each one is tied to a specific location, and finding them all means exploring beyond the main story path — picking up rumors from townsfolk, completing side quests, and winning a Colosseum bout.
This guide covers every Esper in the game: exactly where to find them, how to unlock each one, the trial level and HP you’ll face, and what each summon does once it joins your party.
If you’re still building out your team before taking on some of these trials, our Final Fantasy Resonance best character builds guide and best Visions tier list will get you ready.
How Espers Work in Final Fantasy Resonance
Before diving into the locations, here’s a quick breakdown of how the summon system works.
Only Fina can summon Espers. She’s the designated summoner in your party, and she can call any Esper you’ve unlocked as long as she has enough MP. Each summon costs 50 MP.
When summoned, an Esper joins the battle as an extra ally for three turns. It acts on its own each turn using its own moves, then on the final turn it unleashes its signature finishing attack and leaves. You can only have one Esper active at a time.
Espers are equipped from the Equipment menu, the same way you equip Visions. You can swap which Esper Fina carries between fights freely. The difference between Visions and Espers: Visions stay equipped to a character and modify their skill set permanently; Espers are temporary battlefield allies you call in when you need them.
Once you have an Esper, you can summon it as many times as you like in a battle — as long as Fina keeps her MP up. Managing her MP carefully is key to getting the most out of your summons in long fights.
All 9 Esper Locations in Final Fantasy Resonance
Espers are split across four unlock methods. Here’s the quick breakdown before the full guide:
- Story unlock (1): Siren — Chapter 1
- Esper Dwelling trials (5): Ramuh, Carbuncle, Titan, Ifrit, Shiva
- Side quest rewards (2): Leviathan (Nichol’s Duty), Odin (Iron Splitter)
- Final unlock (1): Bahamut — requires all other 7 Espers first
Esper 1: Siren — Chapter 1

Element: Wind
Location: Siren’s Tower, Kingdom of Grandshelt
Chapter Available: 1
How to Unlock: Automatic — reach the top of Siren’s Tower in Chapter 1 and defeat her in the story boss fight. She joins Fina after the battle.
Trial Level: 11 | HP: 20,000
Finishing Move: Lunatic Voice — inflicts Sleep and Silence on all enemies
Weakness: Lightning

Siren is the one Esper you cannot miss. The story takes you straight to her tower near the end of Chapter 1, and beating her is mandatory. Once she’s yours, the summoning system unlocks for the rest of the game.
In battle, Siren is excellent for support — her finishing move Lunatic Voice puts all enemies to sleep and silences them, which buys you free turns. She also deals Wind damage during her three turns on the field, making her useful against Wind-weak bosses throughout the early game.
Struggling to find the way to her tower? Our guide on how to get inside Siren’s Tower in Final Fantasy Resonance covers the approach step by step.
Esper 2: Ramuh — Chapter 2

Element: Lightning
Location: Mt. Thunderclap, Dirnado (Continent of Wind)
Chapter Available: 2
How to Unlock: Enter Mt. Thunderclap through the upper path — not the main dungeon entrance. After you emerge from the lower part of the dungeon and return to the World Map, look for a second entrance south of the Shrine of Zidane. Follow the path inside until you reach a gravestone, interact with it, and defeat Ramuh in his trial.
Trial Level: 20 | HP: 24,000
Finishing Move: Judgment Bolt — deals Lightning magic damage to all enemies
Weakness: Earth | Immune to: Lightning
Ramuh is the easiest optional Esper to grab and well worth a detour in Chapter 2. The hidden upper entrance to Mt. Thunderclap is easy to miss if you only went through the main dungeon path during the story.
The trial fight against Ramuh is level 20 — doable at this stage if you’re roughly on pace with the main story level. He’s immune to Lightning, so don’t bother with those skills. Bring Earth attacks and buy a few Earth Scrolls from the Dwarven Forge shop if your party doesn’t have Earth coverage yet. Watch out for Thunderspark, his paralysis-inflicting attack.
Once summoned, Ramuh spends his three turns hammering enemies with Lightning skills including Thundaga, Supercell, and Gigavolt before ending on Judgment Bolt. He’s your go-to summon against Water-heavy bosses and Chapter 3’s string of water enemies.
Esper 3: Carbuncle — Chapter 3

Element: Non-elemental (support)
Location: Ruby Cave, Olderion Federation
Chapter Available: 3
How to Unlock: Find the Ruby Cave southwest of Olderion, the Aquapolis, and read the stone stele (gravestone) at the back of the cave. This starts a puzzle — three Ruby Fragments now appear scattered across the Olderion world map. Collect them in the correct order shown, then return to the stele. Carbuncle joins without a fight.
Trial Level: None (no fight required)
Finishing Move: Ruby Light — casts Reflect on all allies
Weakness: N/A
The three Ruby Fragment locations on the Olderion world map, in order:
- First: Just southeast of Rukh Cave, between two circular pools (one large, one small)
- Second: On the straight east coast of the continent, southwest of the Sanctum of Squall and almost due east of Cave of Waters — look near two mountains with flat grassy gaps
- Third: Just west of the seven waterfalls, due west of Olderion, the Aquapolis — cross two wooden bridges and head up the small grassy cliff
Important: You must read the stele in Ruby Cave first before the fragments appear on the map. If you go looking without doing that step, nothing shows up.
Carbuncle is a completely different kind of Esper from the others. He deals no damage. Instead, he spends his turns casting pure support magic: Healing Ruby (restores HP and applies Regen), Shining Ruby (applies Protectga and Shellga), Glittering Ruby (applies Bravega and Faithga), and Soothing Ruby (casts Esunaga to remove status ailments). His finishing move Ruby Light reflects magic back at enemies.
One important caveat: Ruby Light reflects all magic — including your own healing spells. If you use Carbuncle, have Fina switch to physical support or items while he’s on the field, or your cures will hit the enemy instead of your party.
Carbuncle is one of the most useful Espers in the game. Many boss fights become far more manageable with his defensive buff turns before Ruby Light lands.
Esper 4: Leviathan — Chapter 4 / 5

Element: Water
Location: Lake Dorr, Olderion Federation
Chapter Available: After Chapter 4 (requires airship)
How to Unlock: Complete the Nichol’s Duty character substory side quest. Nichol gives this quest in Olderion, the Aquapolis, and it leads you through the Cave of Waters to Lake Dorr where Leviathan joins as the reward. No extra trial fight — the quest’s final encounter is how you earn him.
Trial Level: 23 | HP: 40,000
Finishing Move: Tsunami — deals Water magic damage to all enemies
Weakness: Lightning | Immune to: Water
Leviathan is tied to Nichol’s character substory, which unlocks after Chapter 4 ends and the airship becomes available. It’s one of the eight character substories that also reward permanent stat bonuses — Nichol gets +100 HP, +30 MP, +30 Magic, and +30 Speed from completing it.
The quest takes you back to familiar Chapter 3 territory — Lake Dorr and the Cave of Waters — but with the new context of Nichol’s personal story driving it. The final fight is Leviathan at level 23 with 40,000 HP. Bring Lightning for the weakness and be aware he’s completely immune to Water. The encounter also features Orbs of Light that protect him — destroy them first before going after Leviathan directly.
Full details on this quest are in our Final Fantasy Resonance complete sub quests list.
Esper 5: Titan — Chapter 4 / 5

Element: Earth
Location: Sealing Stone, east of the Village of Kol, Kingdom of Grandshelt
Chapter Available: Chapter 4 (Colosseum must be open)
How to Unlock (two steps):
- Win Fledgling Battle 5 at the Colosseum to earn the Gaia Hammer. The recommended level for this fight is around 32.
- Head to the Sealing Stone in the desert east of Siren’s Tower (west of the Village of Kol). Use the Gaia Hammer to smash it and access Titan’s Esper’s Dwelling behind it. Defeat Titan in the trial.
Trial Level: 30 | HP: 65,000
Finishing Move: Gaia’s Wrath — deals Earth magic damage to all enemies
Weakness: Wind | Immune to: Earth
Titan is the most involved optional Esper to unlock since he requires a Colosseum win first. The Gaia Hammer is the only item that breaks Sealing Stones — there’s no way around it. A townsfolk rumor in Grandport Harbor points you in the right direction, but you don’t actually need to hear it to proceed.
The Titan trial at level 30 hits hard physically. Wind attacks are the weakness to exploit. Bring Protect and Debrave to reduce the physical damage and chip at his 65,000 HP steadily. Watch out for Fist of Ferocity and Pulverize — both are massive hits. Titan is immune to Earth, so skip any Earth skills entirely.
Titan deals Earth damage while on the field and finishes with Gaia’s Wrath. He’s particularly strong against Earth-weak bosses and makes a great summon choice in Chapter 5 dungeons.
For the full Sealing Stone unlock, see our dedicated guide on how to break the Sealing Stone in Final Fantasy Resonance.
Esper 6: Ifrit — Chapter 5

Element: Fire
Location: Volcano (Infernal Hollow), southern Zoldaad Empire Territory
Chapter Available: Chapter 5 (requires airship)
How to Unlock: Once you have the airship, fly over the southern part of Zoldaad Empire Territory until you see the volcano with smoke coming out. Fly into it to enter the Infernal Hollow, then defeat Ifrit in his trial.
Trial Level: 33 | HP: 96,000
Finishing Move: Hellfire — deals Fire magic damage to all enemies
Weakness: Water | Immune to: Fire
Ifrit is straightforward to find once you have the airship — the smoking volcano is hard to miss on the Zoldaad map. The bigger challenge is the trial itself. At level 33 with 96,000 HP, Ifrit is the first Esper trial that demands real preparation.
He’s immune to Fire (naturally), so bring Water skills only. His devastating moves include Burn to Ashes (AoE Fire magic) and Body Slam (physical hit that may cause Paralysis). Having Fina heal or buff with Shellga between attacks keeps your party alive while you build the stagger gauge with Water hits.
Once you have Ifrit, he’s incredibly strong against the many Ice and Earth-type enemies and bosses you’ll face from Chapter 5 onward. His three turns of Firaga and Fira skills stack up well before Hellfire closes it out.
Esper 7: Shiva — Chapter 5

Element: Ice
Location: Snowstorm island, southwest of Mysidia, the Magiapolis
Chapter Available: Chapter 5 (requires airship)
How to Unlock: Use the airship to land on the smaller island to the southwest of Mysidia’s main landmass. You’ll see a snowstorm on the island — fly into it and Shiva’s trial begins. Win the fight to unlock her.
Trial Level: 35 | HP: 115,000
Finishing Move: Diamond Dust — deals Ice magic damage to all enemies
Weakness: Fire | Resists: Water | Absorbed: Ice
Shiva is one of the tougher trials. At 115,000 HP she has more health than most Chapter 5 story bosses. She absorbs Ice completely — you’d be healing her — and resists Water too, so don’t bother with either element. Fire is the sole weakness and the only thing you should be bringing.
Her moves include Blizzaga Barrage (a party-wide Ice hit) and Whiteout (her devastating AoE). The stagger gauge is 1,400, which means you need sustained Fire pressure to fill it before she can launch Whiteout. Fina on Shellga and healing between Fire volleys is the standard approach.
Shiva is worth the effort. Once you have her, Diamond Dust hits hard against Fire-weak enemies and she performs very well in Chapter 6 and 7 fights that feature Fire or neutral-element bosses. She also gets particularly good use against Jotunn (the Cave Master boss who’s immune to Ice and weak to Fire).
Esper 8: Odin — Chapter 6

Element: Non-elemental (physical)
Location: Bladerain Stele, Gronoa (the Shuttered Land)
Chapter Available: Chapter 6
How to Unlock: Complete the Iron Splitter side quest, which starts at the Bladerain Stele on Gronoa. The quest asks you to find a broken sword on the western precipice of Gronoa (where you’ll fight Odin’s Shadow) and then return it to the Nameless Ruins. Odin joins after the quest concludes.
Trial Level: 45 | HP: 175,000
Finishing Move: Zantetsuken — deals physical damage to all enemies with a chance to inflict Instant Death
Weakness: Lightning
To access the Iron Splitter quest and Gronoa generally, you’ll need to reach Chapter 6 and use Holy to clear the miasma bog — this is part of the main story, so you’ll get there naturally. Once the continent is open, look for the Bladerain Stele on your map (shown with a blue icon) and interact with it to start the quest.
The mid-quest fight is against Odin’s Shadow at level 45 — Lightning is the weakness. Zantetsuken is his finishing move: it hits all enemies physically and has a chance to instantly kill them. Against groups of enemies, this can clean an encounter in one shot. Against bosses, the Instant Death chance doesn’t always land, but the raw physical damage is still solid.
Odin fills a unique role — he’s your physical damage summon when magical elements aren’t the priority. He also counters bosses that absorb or resist elemental magic.
Esper 9: Bahamut — Chapter 7
Element: Non-elemental
Location: Airship
Chapter Available: Chapter 7
How to Unlock: You must have all other seven Espers first (Ramuh, Carbuncle, Leviathan, Titan, Ifrit, Shiva, and Odin). Once they’re all collected and you reach Chapter 7, board the airship. Fina will hear a distant voice — this triggers a short cutscene. Speak to Evan beside the steering wheel and choose to visit the Esper. The airship takes you to Bahamut’s location and the battle begins. Win to unlock him.
Trial Level: 50 | HP: 200,000
Finishing Move: Megaflare — deals massive non-elemental magic damage to all enemies
Weakness: None
Bahamut is the final and most powerful Esper in the game, and fighting him is the hardest Esper trial by a wide margin. Level 50 with 200,000 HP and no elemental weakness means there’s no shortcut — you have to tank and outlast. He launches Megaflare each time his countdown reaches zero, and he stores the elemental attacks your party uses, then strikes back with them once enough have accumulated. Bring a diverse party rather than focusing on one element, and prioritize healing over burst damage.
As a summon, Bahamut is the strongest finisher in the game. Megaflare hits all enemies with non-elemental magic — meaning nothing is immune to it. Against bosses that absorb or resist multiple elements, Bahamut becomes the go-to option. Three turns of his own attacks plus Megaflare at the close deals significant damage regardless of enemy type.

Which Espers to Get First
All Espers are available until the end of the game — none are missable. But getting them earlier makes the game easier. Here’s a practical priority order:
- Ramuh (Chapter 2): Easiest to grab and immediately useful. Lightning covers most of Chapter 3’s water bosses. Don’t skip him.
- Carbuncle (Chapter 3): The puzzle takes ten minutes. The payoff — Shellga, Protectga, Regen, and Reflect in a single summon — lasts the whole game. He’s genuinely one of the best Espers for hard boss fights.
- Leviathan (Chapter 4/5): Tied to Nichol’s Duty, which also earns Nichol a stat bonus. Do the quest for both rewards.
- Ifrit and Shiva (Chapter 5): Both become available once the airship is yours. Get them early in Chapter 5 to use them through the rest of the chapter’s dungeons.
- Titan (Chapter 4/5): Requires a Colosseum fight, which takes a little extra effort. Worth it for Earth coverage, which is rare otherwise.
- Odin (Chapter 6): Tied to the Iron Splitter side quest on Gronoa. Grab him as soon as Chapter 6 opens.
- Bahamut (Chapter 7): The last unlock and the most powerful. Prioritize finishing the other seven so he’s available for the late story chapters.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many Espers are in Final Fantasy Resonance?
There are 9 Espers in total: Siren, Ramuh, Carbuncle, Leviathan, Titan, Ifrit, Shiva, Odin, and Bahamut. Collecting all nine unlocks the Sovereigns of the Planet trophy and achievement.
Who can summon Espers in Final Fantasy Resonance?
Only Fina can summon Espers. Each summon costs 50 MP, and Fina needs to have the Esper equipped in her Equipment slot before she can call it in battle. You can only have one Esper active at a time, and it stays on the field for three turns before using its finishing move and leaving.
Which Esper is the best in Final Fantasy Resonance?
It depends on the fight. Carbuncle is arguably the most versatile — his defensive turns (Shellga, Protectga, Regen, Esunaga) make hard fights much more survivable before Ruby Light reflects enemy magic back at them. Bahamut’s Megaflare is the hardest-hitting option and deals non-elemental damage, making it effective against anything. For elemental coverage, match the Esper to the boss’s weakness.
Can I miss any Espers in Final Fantasy Resonance?
No. All 9 Espers remain available throughout the game and during free roam after the story ends. None are permanently missable. That said, picking them up as you go is recommended since they’re useful during the chapters where they’re first available.
How do I get Titan in Final Fantasy Resonance?
Win Fledgling Battle 5 at the Colosseum to earn the Gaia Hammer, then use it on the Sealing Stone east of Siren’s Tower in Grandshelt to unlock the path to Titan’s Esper’s Dwelling. Defeat Titan (level 30, 65,000 HP) in the trial to earn him. See our full guide on how to break the Sealing Stone in Final Fantasy Resonance.
How do I unlock Bahamut in Final Fantasy Resonance?
Collect all seven other optional Espers (Ramuh, Carbuncle, Leviathan, Titan, Ifrit, Shiva, and Odin), then board the airship during Chapter 7. Fina will hear a voice calling her. Speak with Evan near the steering wheel, confirm you’re ready, and the airship takes you to Bahamut’s location. The trial is level 50 with 200,000 HP and no elemental weakness.
How do I get Carbuncle in Final Fantasy Resonance?
Go to Ruby Cave southwest of Olderion, the Aquapolis in Chapter 3. Read the stone stele at the back of the cave to start the puzzle. Three Ruby Fragments then appear on the Olderion world map — collect them in order (first southeast of Rukh Cave, second on the east coast near Cave of Waters, third west of Olderion near the waterfalls). Return to the stele with all three and Carbuncle joins without a fight.
How do I unlock Leviathan in Final Fantasy Resonance?
Complete the Nichol’s Duty character substory side quest. It becomes available after Chapter 4 ends and the airship is yours. Talk to Nichol in Olderion, the Aquapolis, to start it. The quest leads through the Cave of Waters to Lake Dorr where Leviathan joins at the conclusion. The quest also gives Nichol a permanent stat bonus.
How do I unlock Odin in Final Fantasy Resonance?
Complete the Iron Splitter side quest, which starts at the Bladerain Stele on Gronoa in Chapter 6 (the continent becomes accessible once you use Holy to clear the miasma bog during the story). The quest asks you to find a broken sword on Gronoa’s western precipice and return it to the Nameless Ruins. Odin joins when the quest finishes. Full details are in our sub quests list guide.
Do Espers level up in Final Fantasy Resonance?
Yes, but differently from characters. Espers don’t have Awakening Levels or Mastery Ranks like Visions. They gain experience from battles they participate in and have their own level stat. Unlike Visions, they have no unlock tree to progress through — their move sets and stats simply improve as they gain levels through combat use.
