The Temple of Nachi Falls in Forza Horizon 6 is one of those places that most players drive past without ever realizing it is there. It sits tucked high in the mountains on the western edge of the map, and you would only stumble upon it if you chased down every winding road. But if you want to complete the Temple of Zoom daily photo challenge, you need to find it fast. This guide tells you exactly where it is, how to get there, and what car to bring.
What Is the Temple of Nachi Falls in Forza Horizon 6?
The Temple of Nachi Falls is a Buddhist temple landmark set inside Forza Horizon 6’s Japan map. It is based on Seiganto-ji, a real temple located near the Nachi waterfall in the Wakayama Prefecture of Japan. In the game, it sits high in the trees above a dramatic waterfall and is one of the most visually striking discovery locations in the entire map.
The real Nachi Falls is famous in Japan. Nachi Waterfall stands 133 meters tall and is considered the tallest individual waterfall in the country. The falls are surrounded by old-growth forest and hold great cultural significance as a sacred site. Playground Games did a great job of recreating that atmosphere inside FH6.
The landmark also ties directly into the Discover Japan stamps system. Visiting discovery points earns you stamps that contribute to your wristband progression. If you want to know more about that system, check out our Discover Japan stamps guide and our full wristband progression guide.
Temple of Nachi Falls Location in Forza Horizon 6

The Temple of Nachi Falls is in the Takashiro region in Forza Horizon 6. The landmark is on the far western side of the region, high in the trees, near the winding road that reaches the edge of the map.
Here is how to pinpoint it on the map:
- Open the map and look at the north-western area of Japan.
- Find the Takashiro region on the western edge.
- It is roughly northwest of the Shikisai-No-Oka flower gardens and directly west of Soni Circuit.
- Look for the small road that curls toward a circular endpoint. Drive up that road, and you will eventually reach the Buddhist temple.
The temple sits right in the center of a circular turnaround at the end of that mountain road. Once you are on the right road, it is hard to miss because the red temple structure stands out clearly against the trees.
The easiest way to get there quickly is to use fast travel. Open your map, find the circular road icon on the far west of Takashiro, and fast travel to the nearest point you have already unlocked. If you have already explored parts of the Takashiro region, you may also recognise the area from the Japan Map guide. Our Forza Horizon 6 Japan map guide covering all regions, districts, and landmarks is worth bookmarking if you want to explore every corner of the map.
How to Complete the Temple of Zoom Challenge
The Temple of Zoom is a daily photo challenge tied to the Summer season of the Horizon Decades Festival Playlist. It requires you to take a photo in a 1980s Ford at the Temple of Nachi Falls. The reward is 5,000 Credits and a seasonal point.
Here are the exact steps to finish it:
Step 1 – Get a Ford from the 1980s
Temple of Zoom only accepts a Ford built in the 1980s. Any eligible model from that decade will register, so pick whichever one you own.
The eligible 1980s Ford cars in FH6 include:
- 1985 Ford RS200 Evolution – a popular pick and great on dirt roads
- 1986 Ford F-150 XLT Lariat – the cheapest option, available from the Autoshow for a few thousand Credits
- 1987 Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500 – available in Forza Horizon 6 as a Barn Find, meaning you can get it without spending any Credits
If you do not own any of these yet, head to the Autoshow and filter by Ford. An example of a Ford eligible for this challenge is the Ford RS200 Evolution. You can also check our Forza Horizon 6 barn find locations guide to track down the Sierra Cosworth for free.
One thing to be careful about: a common mistake is using a modern Ford that looks similar. Even a 2017 Ford Focus RS will not count. Double-check the car’s production year in your garage before heading out.
Step 2 – Drive to the Temple of Nachi Falls
With your eligible Ford selected, set the Temple of Nachi Falls as your destination on the map. Drive up the winding western road in Takashiro until you reach the circular turnaround at the temple. Pull your car fully inside the temple area rather than stopping on the approach.
This step matters more than you might think. Location-based photo challenges can fail if the car is just outside the point-of-interest boundary, even when the landmark is visible on screen. So pull all the way in.
Step 3 – Take the Photo
Open Photo Mode with P on the keyboard or Up on the D-pad, frame a shot that includes both your car and the temple, and take the picture. The game confirms the daily challenge as complete once it detects both elements, and you receive 5,000 credits.
You do not need a specific angle or artistic composition. The game just needs to see the car and the landmark in the same frame. Once the popup appears confirming the challenge, you are done.

Bonus: Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution III Treasure Car Nearby
While you are up in this area, do not leave without grabbing a nearby hidden car. The 1995 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 3 GSR is a treasure car parked up on the dirt track just north of the temple, near the waterfall. It is one of the best early finds in the game and completely free to claim.
We have a full walkthrough in our Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution III treasure car location guide.

Temple of Nachi Falls – Real World Connection
The landmark is not just a random decoration. Temple of Nachi Falls is based on Seiganto-ji, a real Buddhist temple located near the Nachi waterfall in the Wakayama Prefecture. The real waterfall is one of Japan’s most famous natural and cultural sites. It stands 133 metres tall with a width of 13 metres at the top, and the waterfall basin is more than 10 metres deep.
Playground Games built a lot of real Japanese landmarks into the game like this. Our Japan map and landmarks guide has the full list if you want to explore them all.
Common Reasons the Temple of Zoom Challenge Fails
If you visited the temple but the challenge did not register, here are the usual causes:
- Wrong car era: A 1970s Escort or a 1990s Focus will not count. The car must be from 1980 to 1989.
- Car is outside the boundary: Being parked outside the landmark boundary even though the temple is visible is a common issue. Drive fully inside the circular area.
- Temple not in frame: Make sure the temple structure is actually visible in your Photo Mode shot, not just the waterfall or surrounding trees.
- Using Drone Mode: Whether Drone Mode satisfies the “whilst in” requirement hasn’t been tested, so stick to normal in-car Photo Mode to avoid wasting the attempt.

Final Tips for Finding the Temple of Nachi Falls
- Use fast travel to get close, then drive the last section up the mountain road.
- The road leading to the temple has a distinctive circular loop at the end – look for it on the map.
- Bring the Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500 from the Barn Find – it handles the winding road well and satisfies the challenge requirement.
- Once you take the photo, visit the Mitsubishi Evo III treasure car location just down the path to make the trip doubly worth it.
- If the challenge does not confirm, drive further into the circular area and try again with the temple fully in frame.
