Why Free S-Class Arcs Matter in NTE

Arcs are the weapon system in Neverness to Everness. Every character equips one Arc disk that boosts their ATK, provides a key substat, and activates a unique passive effect in combat. The gap between a strong Arc and a weak one is significant — your Arc choice can impact your damage output as much as the character’s own level.

S-Class Arcs are the highest rarity. Normally you pull for them on the Arc gacha banner using Tri-Keys. But NTE is unusually generous: every standard S-Rank Arc in the game can be obtained once for free through in-game activities. You can fully gear your entire team without spending a single Tri-Key on weapon pulls.

This guide covers every source of free S-Class Arcs, what you need to do, and which Arc each method gives you. To see how each Arc ranks in the current meta, check our Arc weapon tier list for NTE.

Tip: Once you reach City Tycoon Level 6, you unlock a boss tracker feature that shows the exact location of each Anomaly boss on the map with a single click. It makes hunting these Arcs significantly faster, so prioritize hitting that milestone early.

Free S-Class Arcs From Anomaly Commissions

Anomaly Commissions are the richest source of free S-Rank Arcs. Each commission listed below guarantees its Arc as a one-time reward when you complete and contain the Anomaly. There is no drop chance involved — finish the commission, get the Arc.

To track any commission, open your World Map, click the Anomaly Commission button in the bottom-right corner, find the commission in the list, and select Track Anomaly. All commissions unlock after you clear the Main Story Prologue – Part 2.

For a broader look at how Anomaly Commissions work, see our Anomaly Zones guide.

Raging Flames – Flaming Bike Ride Assault (Bridge Crossings)

Arc type: Plasma | Substat: Crit DMG

Passive effect: Increases the wearer’s Lakshana DMG by 15%. After casting an Ultimate, the wearer’s Redirect Skill and Ultimate deal 10% more damage for 10 seconds. Also triggers a Ghost Rider bike visual effect.

Complete the Flaming Bike Ride Assault Anomaly Commission in Bridge Crossings. The boss here is the Headless Rider. Defeat it and contain the Anomaly to claim Raging Flames. This is one of the most in-demand free S-Rank Arcs in the game because of its strong Crit DMG scaling. It is worth prioritizing early — it is also Hathor’s signature Arc.

Full walkthrough: Flaming Bike Ride Assault Anomaly Commission Guide.

Blow Up the Crowd – Rhythm Master (Illusion Town)

Arc type: Solid | Substat: ATK%

Passive effect: While the wearer is off-field, the active character gains up to 18% extra ATK. When on-field, the wearer can stack up to 32% Psyche damage through basic attacks alone.

Complete the Rhythm Master Anomaly Commission in Illusion Town. The boss is the Beat King, located near the Security Office on Crane Path. Teleport to the phone booth near Illusion Town, turn around, and head straight — the boss is right there. Defeat it to earn Blow Up the Crowd, which is also Haniel’s signature Arc. It also appears in the Arc weapon banner, so you can get refinement copies over time.

Full walkthrough: Rhythm Master Anomaly Commission Guide.

Song of the Whale – Deep Blue Sorrow (New Herland District)

Arc type: Plasma | Substat: ATK%

Passive effect: Increases ATK by 12%, boosts damage to Broken enemies by 12%, and restores 30% HP to the wearer when a Broken enemy dies — once every 30 seconds. Pairs especially well with Break-focused builds.

Complete the Deep Blue Sorrow Anomaly Commission in the New Herland District. To trigger the Anomalous Realm, drive a 4-wheeled car in reverse into Nautili Tunnel — a motorcycle will not work. The boss at the end of the commission is the Sea Prisoner. Defeat it and contain the Anomaly to earn Song of the Whale.

Full walkthrough: Deep Blue Sorrow Commission Guide.

Tears Beneath the Mask – Call of the Lost (New Herland District)

Arc type: Gas | Substat: ATK%

Passive effect: The wearer’s Ultimate applies Warning Gaze to enemies on hit. Marked enemies deal 18% reduced damage for 20 seconds. A strong defensive passive that makes it particularly useful in harder content.

Complete the Call of the Lost Anomaly Commission in New Herland. The quest marker starts on a rooftop just south of Oia Avenue. Defeat the Nestbound Bird boss at the end to earn Tears Beneath the Mask.

Full walkthrough: Call of the Lost Commission Guide.

Youthful Fantasy – The Book of Post-Adolescence (New Herland District)

Arc type: Liquid | Substat: ATK%

Passive effect: Increases Break Intensity by 60. Unlocks the Black Tome Arc ability — summons Black Tome after support skills are used, boosts Chaos damage by 20%, and deals extra Chaos damage equal to 200% of the wearer’s ATK. This is Daffodil’s signature Arc.

Complete the Book of Post-Adolescence Anomaly Commission in New Herland. Teleport to the Wertheimer Tower and track down the commission on your map. When you spot the construction site in the area, head inside, take the lift to the fourth floor — the boss, the Black Tome, is there. Defeat it to earn Youthful Fantasy — the best free Liquid Arc in the game and highly recommended for Liquid-type characters like Jiuyuan and Daffodil.

Full walkthrough: Book of Post-Adolescence Commission Guide.

Reality Refuge – Let’s Go See a Movie (Commission)

Arc type: Solid | Substat: ATK%

Complete the Let’s Go See a Movie Anomaly Commission. At the end of the commission, defeat the Swallowtail boss. When it is defeated, it will drop an item on the ground — walk close to it to contain the Anomaly and claim Reality Refuge.

Free S-Class Arcs From Anomaly Pilgrimage

Anomaly Pilgrimage is a separate repeatable challenge system, distinct from standard Anomaly Commissions. Open the Exploration Guide from your in-game phone, head to the third tab, and switch to the Anomaly Pilgrimage page. Here you can select specific boss challenges. Two of these challenges reward an S-Rank Arc on your first completion. Note that Anomaly Pilgrimage itself unlocks after you complete the Deal? Deal! main story quest.

Eternal Waltz – The Never-ending Arachne

Arc type: Synthesis | Substat: HP%

Passive effect: Increases Max HP by 20% and Mental DMG dealt by 10% for 10 seconds after the wearer casts an Ultimate. A strong option for tankier Synthesis characters who scale with Mental damage.

Once you have unlocked Anomaly Pilgrimage by completing the Deal? Deal! main quest, select the “The Never-ending Arachne” challenge in the Anomaly Pilgrimage menu. Complete it once to earn Eternal Waltz.

Good Boy’s Grand Adventure – Morphix

Arc type: Gas | Substat: ATK%

Passive effect: Increases Charge Efficiency by 18%. After the wearer casts an Ultimate, team ATK increases by 10% for 20 seconds. If enemies are controlled by the Ultimate, team ATK gets an additional 6% boost (up to 16% total). This is Sakiri’s signature Arc.

Select the “Morphix” challenge in the Anomaly Pilgrimage menu. You must first complete the Pawn Moonlight spinoff quest before this challenge becomes visible — the quest triggers automatically as you progress the main story, typically around Hunter Level 10. The Morphix fight must be completed in single-player mode (not co-op) for the Arc to drop. Complete it once through the Anomaly Pilgrimage to earn Good Boy’s Grand Adventure.

Free S-Class Arcs From Other Gameplay

Several S-Rank Arcs come from sources outside of Anomaly Commissions entirely. These require specific in-game activities or longer-term progression.

Camellia Society – Serenetti (Unheard Shores)

Arc type: Synthesis | Substat: Crit Rate

Passive effect: Stacks Crit DMG every time your HP drops without taking a direct hit, unlocking a special state called Silent Garden. A strong passive for characters that can manage their own HP in combat — this is Baicang’s signature Arc.

Camellia Society requires completing two spinoff quests before the Arc becomes available. First, complete Tomato Jelly Rampage: Live Report! Then complete Where Words Sprout, Fall Unfolds — this quest requires Hunter Level 15 and starts in Bridge Crossings. Once both spinoffs are done, travel to Serenetti Manor in the Unheard Shores district and defeat the world boss Serenetti on the post-quest rematch. This rematch must be done in single-player mode. The Camellia Society Arc drops upon defeating Serenetti in this repeatable encounter.

Important: Defeating Serenetti during the original story sequence of the spinoff does not grant the Arc. You must return for the repeatable field fight after both spinoffs are finished.

Hethereau’s Keeper – Justice Executioner (Wanted Level Boss)

Arc type: Solid | Substat: ATK%

Passive effect: Increases ATK by 15% and damage dealt to bosses by 15%. Also summons a police cat companion called Officer Whisker that continuously attacks enemies during combat.

This Arc is earned by raising your Wanted Level to 4 stars — the maximum — by committing illegal acts in the city such as attacking NPCs, stealing or ramming vehicles, or destroying public property. When your Wanted Level hits 4 stars, the Justice Executioner (Level 99) spawns as a boss fight.

The Justice Executioner is one of the hardest enemies in the game. It is Level 99 regardless of your current progress, so wait until your team is well-built before attempting this. Prioritize dodging over attacking — it deals heavy burst damage and you will be eliminated quickly if you play aggressively. Carry healing items and attack only during safe windows after its major moves finish.

After defeating the boss, head to the nearest Security Office and speak with the officer there to claim Hethereau’s Keeper.

For more on how the Wanted system works and how to manage or escape it, see our guide on how to lower your Wanted Level in NTE.

Day Off – Eclipse Hidden Quest (Bureau of Anomaly Control)

Arc type: Solid | Substat: Charge Efficiency

Passive effect: Increases ATK by 30% and unlocks the Eclipse ability, which restores Ultimate Energy for every enemy you defeat during its duration. This is Esper Zero’s signature Arc and the only free S-Rank Arc with a Charge Efficiency substat — making it the best free Arc for rotation-dependent builds.

Day Off is obtained through a hidden multi-day chain quest involving an Anomaly named Eclipse. You must find and speak with Eclipse at six different locations across Hethereau. The quest begins at the Bureau of Anomaly Control. Eclipse does not appear on the map and the locations are not marked, so you need to search each spot manually.

The locations span across multiple districts and some require specific weather conditions — set in-game time to the next day at 8 AM with Sunny weather to ensure Eclipse spawns. After visiting all six locations and speaking with Eclipse each time, return to the Bureau of Anomaly Control for the final interaction to claim Day Off.

For a full step-by-step breakdown, check our dedicated guide on how to get the Day Off Arc in NTE.

Contemplative Cat – City Tycoon Level 21

Arc type: Gas | Substat: Crit DMG

Passive effect: 512 base ATK with 44% Crit DMG at max level. Stacks a Cosmos DMG bonus for every 100,000 Fons held, up to 45% at 1,000,000 Fons — making it uniquely powerful for players who accumulate large Fons reserves.

Raise your City Tycoon Level to 21 to automatically receive Contemplative Cat as a milestone reward. Additional copies are earned as you continue leveling the Tycoon system beyond Level 21, giving you a way to refine this Arc without spending resources elsewhere. Progressing City Tycoon requires buying properties, managing businesses, and spending Fons on development across Hethereau.

For help leveling up your Tycoon progress efficiently, see our NTE City Tycoon guide.

Free S-Class Arcs From Events and Other Sources

Stellar Veil – 14-Day Login Event

Arc type: Plasma | Substat: ATK%

Stellar Veil is available as a reward from the 14-day login event. Log in on Day 10 of the event window to claim it for free. This is one of the simplest free S-Rank Arcs to get — just log in consistently during the event period and it is yours automatically.

Your Happiness is Priceless – Nacupeda’s Pool (Mhm! Coins)

Arc type: Solid | Substat: DEF%

Passive effect: 512 base ATK with 38.5% DEF at max level. Activates a random defensive buff on Ultimate — the highest-survivability S-Class Arc in the game.

Purchase this Arc from the Mall by exchanging 100 Mhm! Coins. Mhm! Coins are earned by visiting Nacupeda’s Pool and selecting “Make a Sincere Wish” once per day. Nacupeda’s Pool is located near Davidia Avenue in the southwest of Illusion Town. It takes 100 days of daily wishes to accumulate enough coins, so start this as early as possible.

Getting Duplicate Copies for Refinement

Once you have a free S-Rank Arc, you may want duplicates to increase its Mixing level (refinement). This strengthens the Arc’s passive effect significantly. Five of the Anomaly Commission Arcs — Blow Up the Crowd, Day Off, Tears Beneath the Mask, Eternal Waltz, and Song of the Whale — can be purchased as duplicate copies from the Mall.

Go to Mall → Arc Shop → Arc Selection and spend 25 Tri-Keys per copy. You can buy up to four additional copies this way, and one more copy is available for purchase every month. You can also earn copies from the Arc weapon banner through normal pulls.

To learn how to upgrade your Arcs once you have them, see our Awakening System guide for NTE and our guide on how to get Cartridges and Modules in NTE.

Which Free S-Class Arc Should You Get First?

If you are unsure where to start, here is a simple priority order based on how strong the Arcs are and how quickly you can get them:

  • Raging Flames – Get this first. Strong Crit DMG substat and immediately useful for most Plasma DPS builds.
  • Day Off – A must-have for Esper Zero. The only free Arc with a Charge Efficiency substat. Start the Eclipse chain quest as early as possible.
  • Youthful Fantasy – Best free Liquid Arc. Prioritize if you are running Jiuyuan or Daffodil.
  • Camellia Society – Best free Arc for Baicang and high-value for any Synthesis Crit build. Complete the two spinoff quests as soon as you hit Hunter Level 15.
  • Blow Up the Crowd – Excellent for Solid DPS. Very consistent passive with no complex activation conditions.
  • Good Boy’s Grand Adventure – Strong for Gas builds and Sakiri. Do the Pawn Moonlight quest early to unlock Morphix, and complete the fight solo.
  • Contemplative Cat – A long-term Tycoon goal but very rewarding once reached, especially for Fons-heavy playstyles.
  • Stellar Veil – Log in daily during the event and this handles itself.
  • Your Happiness is Priceless – A 100-day grind through Nacupeda’s Pool, but worth starting on day one.
