What Are Ancient Civilization Parts in Palworld?

Ancient Civilization Parts are a rare crafting material described in-game as debris excavated from ancient ruins. They carry information about lost technology and are extremely valuable. They are not mined from rocks, grown in a base, or bought from standard merchants. Every single one must be earned through combat or exploration.

You will need them for Ancient Technology recipes, uncommon-tier and higher Schematics, and research at the Pal Labor Research Laboratory. The demand only grows as you progress, so building a good farming habit early saves a lot of frustration later.

Note: Ancient Civilization Parts and Ancient Civilization Cores are two completely different items. Parts drop from Alpha Pals and dungeon bosses. All Ways to Get Ancient Civilization Parts in Palworld 1.0

There are five main sources. Each has different efficiency depending on your level and gear. Here is a breakdown of every method.

1. Defeat or Capture Alpha Pals (Best Method)

Alpha Pals are the oversized, boss-style Pals scattered across the open world. They appear on the map with their own icons. Every Alpha Pal drops Ancient Civilization Parts when defeated or captured — with no randomness. It is a guaranteed drop every time. The drop quantity from certain Alpha Pals was increased in a prior patch, making the farming loop even more rewarding per run.

This makes Alpha Pals the most reliable and consistent source in the game. The good news is they respawn roughly one hour after being defeated, so you can keep cycling through the same ones.

Start with low-level Alpha Pals close to your base. Chillet, found near Fort Ruins, is a level 11 Alpha and one of the easiest early targets. As your gear improves, work your way up to higher-level Alphas for better overall rewards alongside the Parts.

Tip: Capturing an Alpha instead of killing it still gives you the drop. You also add a Pal to your roster, and the Alpha respawns anyway. So capturing is almost always the better choice. If you use a Meat Cleaver on a captured Alpha, you can get even more drops from it.

2. Clear Dungeon Bosses

Dungeons are cave-like entrances scattered all over the map. Fight through enemies inside and you will reach a large boss Pal at the end with a full health bar. Defeating or capturing this boss has a chance to drop Ancient Civilization Parts.

Note that dungeon bosses do not guarantee a drop the way Alpha Pals do — it is RNG. However, dungeons are also a great source of rare chests and other materials, so they are worth running as part of your loop.

Dungeons also reward Ancient Technology Points on first clear, making them doubly valuable early on.

3. Defeat or Capture Lucky Pals

Lucky Pals are rare, sparkling versions of regular Pals. They carry the Lucky passive skill and drop Ancient Civilization Parts when defeated or caught. You cannot reliably farm them from a fixed spot — they spawn randomly as you explore.

4. Open Rare Chests

Rare chests found in dungeons and around the open world can contain Ancient Civilization Parts. These are golden or lucky-tier chests — not the common wooden ones. They are not a primary farming method, but they add to your supply as you explore naturally.

5. Fishing at Purple Sparkle Spots (New in 1.0)

Palworld 1.0 added a new way to get Ancient Civilization Parts through fishing. While exploring, keep an eye out for fishing spots with purple sparkles above the water. These are special spots where you can catch Alpha Pals with a fishing rod. Catching a purple sparkle Alpha and butchering it with a Meat Cleaver gives you Ancient Civilization Parts, just like defeating an Alpha in the wild.

[v1.0.4] The fishing system was overhauled in patch v1.0.4. Bait item rewards were retuned individually, and fishing difficulty in the Sunreach and World Tree regions was rebalanced. For purple sparkle spots specifically — which reward item drops from caught Pals — the best bait to use is now Risky Bait (+80% extra item drops) or Alluring Bait (+40% extra item drops). These baits significantly increase how many Parts you receive when butchering a caught Alpha. This is a meaningful upgrade over using Simple or High Quality Bait, which provide no item drop bonus at all.

Equip your best fishing rod, use Risky Bait or Alluring Bait, cast at the purple sparkle shadow, and butcher the caught Alpha for Parts. This method is a great supplement to your main farming loop.

6. Pal Expeditions

Once you unlock the Expedition Station at your base, certain expeditions will reward Ancient Civilization Parts. This is a passive method — send your Pals out and collect when they return. The Snow expedition is one of the earlier ones that can yield Parts.

The fastest farming method is to build a loop of nearby Alpha Pals and cycle through them. Here is how to set it up:

• Start from your base and hit every Alpha Pal within a reasonable distance, in order.
• Run any dungeons that are along the same path — you get both dungeon boss drops and chest loot.
• If you spot a Lucky Pal during the loop, capture or kill it immediately before moving on.
• Keep your Expedition Station running in the background for passive Parts while you are out.
• Once your first Alpha respawns (roughly an hour later), loop back and start again.

Prioritise Alpha Pals where you have a type advantage. You will clear them faster, use fewer healing items, and run more loops per hour. Check the fastest Pal mounts and best flying mounts to cover the map quickly between bosses.

These two items share a similar name and both appear in crafting menus, which causes a lot of confusion. They are entirely separate materials and cannot substitute for each other.

• Ancient Civilization Parts — Blue icon. Drop from Alpha Pals, Dungeon Bosses, Lucky Pals, rare chests, fishing, and Expeditions. Used in mid-game and late-game Ancient Technology recipes.
• Ancient Civilization Cores — Purple icon. A Legendary endgame material. Drops only from Raid Bosses, Oil Rig chests, high-tier Expeditions, and the Ancient Relic Recycler. Used in the most advanced endgame crafting.
