The story stays solo, but almost everything else is fair game.

Does NTE Have Multiplayer?

Yes. NTE fully supports online co-op multiplayer for up to 4 players. This includes the host plus up to 3 guests. Each player brings their own characters, builds, and equipment into the session. The host’s world is used as the shared instance, meaning guests join the host’s version of Hethereau.

There is no PvP in NTE. The entire multiplayer experience is cooperative and PvE-focused. The developers deliberately designed it around teamwork rather than competition.

How to Unlock Multiplayer in NTE

Multiplayer is not available from the very start of the game. It unlocks after you complete the main story chapter Prologue II: Good Business, Better Treasure and reach approximately Hunter Level 7 or 8. The exact level gate varies slightly depending on your account, but completing the prologue and progressing naturally through early quests is all it takes.

The whole process takes around 30–35 minutes of gameplay from a fresh account. Once you hit the requirement, the Multiplayer option will appear on your in-game phone automatically. You do not need to do anything special to trigger it — just keep playing the main story.

How to Add Friends in NTE

Before you can invite someone to your world, you need to add them as a friend using their UID — the unique player identification number assigned to every account. Here is how to find UIDs and add friends:

• Your UID is displayed at the bottom-left corner of your screen at all times. Share this number with the friends you want to play with.
• Open the in-game phone (tap the phone icon in the upper-right corner of the screen).
• Look for the Friends option in the phone menu.
• Tap Add Friend in the bottom-right corner of the Friends screen.
• Enter your friend’s UID in the search bar and send the friend request.
• Once they accept, they will appear in your Friends list.

You can also search for players directly in the Multiplayer menu using the search bar at the top of that screen, without needing to add them as friends first — though adding friends first makes future invites quicker.

How to Invite Friends and Start a Multiplayer Session in NTE

• Open your in-game phone from the icon in the top-right corner of the screen.

• Tap Multiplayer to open the multiplayer menu.
• Use the search bar at the top to find your friend by their UID, or select them directly from your Friends list.
• Send them a multiplayer invite to join your world.
• Once they accept, a loading screen will appear and they will join your session.

If someone else sends you an invite, it will appear as a notification on your screen. Tap Approve to join their world instantly.

Multiplayer Privacy Settings in NTE

NTE gives you control over who can join your world. In the Multiplayer menu, you can adjust your co-op preferences at any time:

• Open – Any player can invite you to their world without needing your approval.
• Friends Only – Only players on your Friends list can send you invites.
• Approval Required – Players can request to join but you must manually approve each invite.
• Private – No one can invite you. You are invisible to incoming multiplayer requests.

Setting this to Friends Only or Approval Required is recommended if you do not want random players joining your session while you are in the middle of solo content.

Server Region Requirement – Important

You can only play with people on the same server region as you. If your friend is on a different server, their account will not appear when you search by UID. Before starting, confirm with your friends which server region you are all on. You can change regions, but doing so may cause lag and longer loading times. The server region cannot be changed without creating a new account in most cases, so choose wisely at the start.

Cross-Platform Multiplayer in NTE

Open World Exploration

You and your friends can freely roam Hethereau together. Fight field enemies, discover secrets, complete side objectives, and explore the city as a group. When a field enemy is defeated, every player near the enemy receives their own loot. There is no loot competition — as long as you are close enough to the enemy when it dies, you get rewards. If you are too far away or have not detected the enemy yet, you will miss the drop, so stick together.

One important note: gift boxes that appear after defeating enemies can only be claimed by the host. Guests do not receive these boxes, so keep that in mind when farming specific enemies.

Combat Challenges and Anomaly Fights

You can fight world enemies and tougher combat encounters as a team. Having a full 4-player party makes even the hardest field enemies manageable. However, Anomaly Commissions do not appear during multiplayer sessions — those must be completed in solo mode. The Racing Friends mode inside Hethereau Hobbies lets you race against your friends through the city in vehicles. There are multiple courses to try, and you can use any vehicle you own. What You CANNOT Do in Multiplayer in NTE

• Story missions are single-player only. You cannot progress the main narrative or episode quests with friends. These must be completed solo.
• Anomaly Commissions do not appear in multiplayer. Commission progress must be done outside of co-op sessions.
• Your Wanted Level does not rise in multiplayer. This means you will not be sent to the Prison or trigger a Justice Executioner encounter while in a co-op session. This is one of the most important things to understand before joining a friend’s session. The host’s Appraisal Level determines the enemy difficulty and reward scaling for everyone in the session. If a high-level player hosts and their Appraisal Level is much higher than yours, enemies will be scaled to their level — which can make fights very difficult for lower-level guests.
