How to Use Character Pixels in NTE – Neverness to Everness Guide

how to consume character pixel neverness to everness

    TL;DR

    • Character Pixels are NTE’s main stamina resource — used exclusively to enter Anomaly Zones.
    • There is no “consume” button — you spend them by simply entering an Anomaly Zone stage.
    • Each run costs 40 Pixels for standard rewards or 80 Pixels for double rewards.
    • Pixels regenerate at 1 every 6 minutes, with a cap of 240 (full bar = 24 hours).
    • There are 5 Anomaly Zones in Hethereau, each dropping different upgrade materials.
    • Priority order: Character EXP → Arc Ascension materials → Esper Ability upgrades → Cartridges.
    • You can restore Pixels with De-noise Solution items or Annulith (up to 6 times per day).

Character Pixels are one of the two stamina systems in NTE: Neverness to Everness — and they are the one that directly controls how fast your characters grow. Almost everything you need to level up characters, upgrade Arcs, and farm Cartridges comes through spending Character Pixels. The problem is the game barely explains how they work or where to spend them. This guide covers all of that clearly.

What Are Character Pixels in NTE?

Character Pixels are NTE’s primary stamina currency. They are separate from City Stamina, which is used for Hethereau Hobbies and city activities. Character Pixels are used only for one thing — entering Anomaly Zones, the instanced combat stages scattered across Hethereau where you farm upgrade materials.

Every piece of progression material in the game — character EXP items, Arc Ascension resources, Esper Ability upgrade materials, and Cartridges — comes from running Anomaly Zones with your Character Pixels.

If you are unsure how the currency systems in NTE work more broadly, our guide to all currencies in NTE breaks them all down in one place.

How to Use Character Pixels in NTE

A lot of new players get confused here because there is no “consume” button in your inventory. You do not click on Character Pixels and spend them manually.

Here is exactly how it works:

    • Open your World Map and look for the Anomaly Zone icon in the lower section of the map interface.
    • Select an Anomaly Zone and choose a stage to enter.
    • Travel to the zone entrance — or use the fast travel warp if you have already visited the zone before.
    • Check the bottom-right corner of your screen to see your current Pixel count before entering.
    • Choose a difficulty level appropriate for your team.
    • Enter the stage. Pixels are spent at the moment you enter, not after you clear it.
    • Complete the stage to receive the rewards and progress any daily quests tied to Pixel spending.

Important: If you enter a stage you cannot clear, your Pixels are still consumed. Always run a difficulty level your team can actually beat to avoid wasting resources.

If your daily quest says “Consume Character Pixels,” the easiest way to complete it is to press the Go button on that quest. The game will auto-navigate you directly to the correct Anomaly Zone without needing to search the map yourself.

Character Pixel Cap and Regeneration Rate

Character Pixels regenerate automatically over time. Here is what you need to know:

    • Regeneration rate: 1 Pixel every 6 minutes
    • Maximum cap: 240 Pixels
    • Time to fully refill from zero: 24 hours
    • Time to recover 40 Pixels (one normal run): about 4 hours

Once you hit the 240 cap, regeneration stops completely. Every minute you stay at the cap without spending is wasted potential. This is why logging in daily and spending down your bar is the most efficient free-to-play habit you can build in NTE. Even spending just once a day is far better than letting the bar sit full for hours.

For the full daily and weekly routine to make sure you are using your stamina efficiently every day, see our NTE daily and weekly routine guide.

    Cost Per Anomaly Zone Run

Every Anomaly Zone in NTE gives you two entry options:

    • 40 Character Pixels – standard run, normal reward amount
    • 80 Character Pixels – double rewards in a single run

Both options give the same total materials per Pixel spent. The 80-Pixel option is more convenient when you want to spend down your bar quickly or you are short on time. The 40-Pixel option gives you more individual runs and more opportunities to practice stages at higher difficulties.

With a cap of 240 Pixels, you can get roughly 3 to 6 full runs per day depending on which option you pick.

All Anomaly Zones in NTE and What They Drop

There are 5 main Anomaly Zones in Hethereau. Each one drops different materials, so knowing which zone to visit is essential. Visit each one at least once in person — this unlocks the warp shortcut on your map so you can teleport there directly in the future without traveling.

    1. Houdini’s Magic Stage

Location: Southeast of Green Wall Slope in Bridge Crossings, accessible via Fiscus Avenue.

What it drops: Character EXP materials and Beetle Coins.

This is the first Anomaly Zone almost every player should focus on. Character EXP materials are what you need to level up your characters, and Beetle Coins help raise Arc levels. This zone is also directly tied to the “Consume Character Pixels” daily quest — the Go shortcut from the quest menu takes you right here.

    2. Bubble Can Factory

Location: On the side of Nutcracker Road, just under Iris Bridge in the New Herland District.

What it drops: Arc Ascension materials (five different types available across the factory’s nodes).

Once your characters are leveled up enough, Bubble Can Factory becomes the priority. Arc materials let you push your weapon Arcs further and increase overall damage output. Do not farm this too early — Arc materials only matter once your character levels are already solid. For more on Arcs, check our Arc weapon tier list.

    3. Houdini’s Schemes

Location: Behind “Griddy” Storage Lockers on Saint Torres Avenue, near Miguel Street.

What it drops: Esper Ability upgrade materials.

Esper Ability upgrades increase the power of your characters’ skills and passive abilities. This zone becomes important once your base character and Arc levels are already strong. It is the third priority in the spending order.

    4. Rabbit Hole

Location: On top of a high-rise building in Cape Square, New Herland District. This is the trickiest zone to physically reach for the first visit.

What it drops: Cartridges (gear) and Console-related enhancement materials, including the Quiet Manor set for Mental Damage builds.

Rabbit Hole is end-game farming territory. You need Hunter Level 10 before Cartridges start dropping here, and S-Rank Cartridges only appear at Difficulty III or higher. Do not spend Pixels here until you have unlocked the higher difficulties and your characters genuinely need gear upgrades. If you want to understand how Cartridges and Modules work, see our guide on how to get Cartridges and Modules in NTE.

    5. Beyond the Rails

Beyond the Rails is a special endgame Anomaly Zone with rotating Special Routes that refresh each game version. Unlike the other four zones, it does not consume Character Pixels. Instead, it rewards Train Logs which can be exchanged in its dedicated shop. This is end-game content, so focus on the other zones first.

Best Spending Priority for Character Pixels

With only 240 Pixels per day, spending them wisely matters a lot — especially early in the game. Here is the recommended order:

    • First priority – Character EXP (Houdini’s Magic Stage): You always need EXP materials. Run this whenever your characters are not at their current level cap.
    • Second priority – Arc Ascension (Bubble Can Factory): Once characters are leveled, push your Arcs. Better Arcs make a significant difference in combat output.
    • Third priority – Esper Ability upgrades (Houdini’s Schemes): Once base stats are strong, invest here to unlock more powerful skill effects for your characters.
    • Last priority – Cartridges (Rabbit Hole): Leave this until Hunter Level 30+ when you can access higher difficulties and actually farm S-Rank gear efficiently.

The most common early-game mistake is spreading Pixels across multiple zones at once. Focus on one priority at a time and your characters will grow faster.

For a full look at which characters to invest in first before spending your Pixels, see our NTE character tier list and our guide on which free S-Class character to pick in NTE.

How to Recover Character Pixels Faster

Natural regeneration is the main method — 1 Pixel every 6 minutes. But there are two other ways to restore Pixels when you need them:

    De-noise Solution

De-noise Solution is a consumable item that instantly restores 60 Character Pixels. The one restriction is that it cannot push your total above the 240 cap — so using it when your bar is already near full wastes the item entirely. Save De-noise Solutions for situations where you have just unlocked a harder difficulty tier and want to farm it straight away without waiting to regenerate.

    Annulith (Premium Currency)

You can also spend Annulith to refill Character Pixels, but this is generally not recommended. Annulith is NTE’s premium currency — the same resource used for gacha pulls on new characters. Here is how the Annulith refill tiers work:

    • First 3 uses per day: 60 Pixels each
    • 4th to 6th uses per day: 120 Pixels each
    • Maximum: 6 uses per day (resets at daily server reset)

Spending Annulith on Pixels is almost always a poor trade unless you are pushing time-limited content and have already secured the characters you want. For when the daily reset happens, see our NTE daily server reset time guide.

Character Pixels vs City Stamina: What Is the Difference?

NTE has two separate stamina systems and they do completely different things:

    • Character Pixels — used exclusively for Anomaly Zones to farm character upgrade materials. Regenerates at 1 per 6 minutes, caps at 240.
    • City Stamina — used for Hethereau Hobbies, city activities, and other open-world content. Separate cap and separate regeneration.

The two systems never overlap. Spending Character Pixels does not affect City Stamina, and vice versa. Make sure you are managing both every day for maximum progression efficiency.

How to Increase Your Hunter Level with Character Pixels

Running Anomaly Zones also rewards Hunter Level EXP in addition to the materials you farm. This means every Pixel you spend is doing double duty — building up your characters and leveling up your Hunter Level at the same time.

A higher Hunter Level unlocks harder Anomaly Zone difficulties, raises the upgrade level cap for your characters, and opens up more content across the game. For a focused guide on leveling up fast, see our guide on how to increase Hunter Level fast in NTE.

Tips to Get the Most Out of Your Character Pixels

    • Spend daily without fail. The 240 cap stops regeneration, so any Pixels above the cap are permanently lost. Log in at least once a day and run at least a few stages.
    • Always run the hardest difficulty you can clear. Higher difficulties drop more and better materials per Pixel spent. Never run easy stages once you can reliably beat harder ones.
    • Visit every Anomaly Zone location once. This unlocks the warp shortcut on your map so you never have to physically travel to them again.
    • Use the Go shortcut on daily quests. When you have a “Consume Character Pixels” task, pressing Go auto-navigates you straight to the right zone. No map hunting needed.
    • Do not use Annulith on Pixels early. Save your Annulith for character pulls. Natural regeneration is enough for steady progression.
    • Use De-noise Solutions smartly. Only use them when you are at low Pixels and need to farm immediately — never when you are near the 240 cap.

If you want to keep building your characters stronger once you are spending your Pixels effectively, our Awakening System guide is the next step. And if you want to understand what Mental Damage is and how to build around it for better Anomaly Zone clears, check our Mental Damage guide for NTE.
