NTE Races Complete Guide: How to Unlock, Win, and Earn Big in Neverness to Everness

TL;DR

  • Racing unlocks at City Tycoon Level 2 — you need 45,500 Fons and to complete the New Commission quest.
  • You must own a car (not a bike or scooter) to race.
  • There are 3 race modes: Challenge (PvE), Online Battle (PvP), and Friends (private PvP).
  • Six PvE racing teams exist: Sunday, Coastal Drift, Full Throttle, Meridian, Tempestas, and Uncrowned King.
  • Each team is only available during a 12-hour in-game time window.
  • Always repair your car before racing — low durability cuts your speed by 10–20%.
  • Winning races and completing objectives earns Fons and Annulith through the Flag and Star Reward system.
  • Upgrade your engine first — it gives the biggest speed boost per Fon spent.

What Is Racing in NTE Neverness to Everness?

Racing is one of the Hethereau Hobbies in Neverness to Everness (NTE). It is not just a fun side activity. It is one of the best ways to earn Fons and Annulith in the game once you get comfortable with the tracks and start clearing side objectives alongside your wins.

You can race against NPC teams or take on other players from around the world. The system is built around vehicle performance, driving skill, and smart use of the racing line. If you want to earn big rewards, this guide covers everything from unlocking races all the way to beating the hardest team in the game.

How to Unlock Races in NTE

You cannot start racing right away. Racing is locked behind the City Tycoon system. Here is what you need to do to unlock it:

Tycoon level NTE
Tycoon level NTE
  • Reach City Tycoon Level 2. This requires earning a total of 45,500 lifetime Fons and completing the New Commission quest.
  • Own a qualifying vehicle. You need a four-wheeled car. Motorcycles and scooters do not count for races.

You can get a car for free during the Legendary Driver quest. If you miss it or want a better one, head to any dealership in Hethereau and buy one using Fons. There are three main dealerships in the city: TerraX, Novus, and Regalia. Each one carries a different set of vehicles, so visit all three to see your options.

If you need Fons to get started, our guide on how to get Fons fast will show you the best safe locations to stack up currency quickly.

Once both conditions are met, the Racing and Garage features unlock automatically. Look for the pink flag icon on your map — that marks the Race Challenge NPC location for whichever team is currently available.

NTE Race Modes Explained

There are three ways to race in Neverness to Everness:

  • Challenge (PvE): Race against NPC racing teams. Each team has six stages and specific side objectives to complete alongside winning.
  • Online Battle (PvP): You get matched with up to 3 random players from the game. Ranked modes can reward pull currency but reset every 65 days.
  • Friends (Private PvP): Set up a private race with people on your friends list.

If you want to play and race with friends, see our guide on how to play with friends in NTE.

All Six PvE Racing Teams in NTE

Challenge mode has six NPC racing teams. You face each team in a set of six races. Every team is only available during a 12-hour window based on in-game time. Here is the full schedule and what to expect from each team:

Sunday

Sunday is the beginner-friendly starting team. The courses are winding coastal roads with sharp turns, but the AI drivers move slowly. You can win by keeping a steady speed of around 130 km/h and focusing on clean cornering. Brake before each turn — do not drift, as drifting kills your momentum. The key here is consistency, not raw speed.

The Defeat the Sunday Team achievement rewards you with Annulith x5 on completion, and each objective you clear earns flags toward the Star Reward milestones.

Coastal Drift

Coastal Drift is similar to Sunday in difficulty. The opponents are not very aggressive and the tracks are forgiving. Keep your speed around 130 km/h and brake smoothly through the curves. Course 1 has blind corners, so memorizing the layout after your first run helps a lot. Course 2 is mostly open straightaways once you clear the opening turns, making it a good track to push your car’s top speed.

Full Throttle

Full Throttle is a noticeable step up. The opponents are faster and more aggressive. You need a better car or upgraded engine parts to stay competitive. Start braking earlier than you think you need to, especially on tighter sections. Crashing and recovering wastes far more time than cautious cornering ever will.

Meridian

Meridian pushes your driving skills harder. Opponents close gaps fast if you make mistakes. Consistent line discipline and good vehicle maintenance become important here. Make sure your car is fully repaired before entering any Meridian race, because a damaged car with low durability simply cannot keep up at this level.

Tempestas

Tempestas features massive elevation changes on its courses. The key to winning is maintaining momentum before going uphill and braking early before descending into turns so you do not fly off the track. Weather also matters a lot here — rain or snow makes grip noticeably worse. Always check conditions before the race and equip the appropriate tire set at the Garage if needed.

Uncrowned King

Uncrowned King is the hardest PvE team in the game. The roads are extremely narrow, making collisions with barriers and opponents highly likely. This is essentially a drag race, so you need a car capable of reaching 165–170 km/h or higher. If your car cannot hit those speeds, you will be left behind. Uncrowned King is end-game racing content. Do not attempt it until you are comfortable with earlier teams and have invested heavily in your vehicle.

Racing Team Time Schedule (In-Game Time)

Each NPC racing team is only available during a set 12-hour window. Plan your races around these schedules:

  • Sunday: 8:00 PM – 8:00 AM
  • Coastal Drift: Available on a set schedule (check in-game)
  • Full Throttle: 12:00 PM – 12:00 AM
  • Meridian: 10:00 PM – 10:00 AM
  • Tempestas: 4:00 PM – 4:00 AM
  • Uncrowned King: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM

If you need to shift in-game time to match a team’s window, you can do it using the Time System from the menu. Learn more in our guide on how to pass time and control weather in NTE.

Racing Objectives and Rewards in NTE
Racing Objectives and Rewards in NTE

Racing Rewards: Fons, Flags, and Annulith

Winning races pays out well, but completing side objectives is where the real money is. Here is how the reward system works:

  • Winning a race earns 2,000–5,000 Fons.
  • Each race comes with two additional side objectives, each worth 1,000–4,000 Fons.
  • Completing all objectives in a single race can triple your total payout.
  • Each completed objective earns one Flag.
  • Every 3 Flags earned gives you 20 Annulith and 5,000 Fons through the Star Reward system.
  • The Star Reward system continues up to 18 Flags per difficulty tier.
  • Defeating the leader of each PvE team and racking up PvP wins also rewards Annulith through achievements.

Winning races and completing objectives consume Stamina at 1 Stamina per 1,000 Fons earned. Keep that in mind when planning your weekly routine. Speaking of weekly routines, our NTE daily and weekly routine guide will help you make the most of your Stamina each reset.

If you start a race badly and do not think you can recover, it is usually better to restart rather than waste the attempt. You only earn rewards if you finish in first place.

Best Cars for Racing in NTE

Your car is the single most important factor in races. Here are the best options depending on where you are in the game:

  • Novus C2000: The starter car. Fine for Sunday and Coastal Drift. Gets outpaced in harder races.
  • Pursuit V8: A strong mid-to-late game option with a top speed of 180 km/h and solid durability. Available at the Regalia dealership for around 4,000,000 Fons.
  • Pendragon: One of the top-tier options for late-game racing including Uncrowned King. Higher cost but worth it for the hardest content.

Always buy the fastest car you can afford at each stage of the game. Visit the Regalia dealership for the best high-end options. For a deeper look at getting your first vehicle, see our guide on how to get a car in NTE.

How to Upgrade Your Car for Racing

Buying a new, faster car every time you hit a wall is not sustainable. The prices balloon quickly at the top end. Instead, use the Rampage Players customization shop to upgrade your current vehicle. Here is what to prioritize:

  • Engine: Upgrade this first. It gives the biggest boost to top speed and acceleration per Fon spent.
  • Frame: Also impactful. A stronger frame helps your car hold together better and maintain performance.
  • Tires: Swap to rain or snow tires when racing in adverse weather. Standard tires lose grip on wet or snowy roads, causing slides and costing you precious seconds.
  • Handling and Braking: Useful for tight corners, especially in Full Throttle, Meridian, and Tempestas tracks.

Car Durability and Why It Matters

Car damage is not just cosmetic in NTE. If your car takes enough hits, its durability drops and your max speed can fall by 10–20%. That kind of penalty is race-ending in competitive Challenge stages.

Always repair your car before a race. You get the chance to do it from the pre-race screen, and it costs very little. Never skip it. A fully repaired car always performs better than a damaged one.

Also, if you continuously scrape your car against walls, sparks will fly. Keep driving recklessly and the car will eventually explode, dropping durability to zero and dealing damage to your character. If you see sparks while racing, ease off and correct your line immediately.

Weather and Its Effect on Racing in NTE

Weather is dynamic in Neverness to Everness and it directly affects how your car handles on track. Rain and snow reduce tire grip, making the car harder to control and more prone to sliding. If you are still using a basic vehicle or standard tires, stick to clear weather when possible.

You can set the weather before a race using the Time System from your menu. Choose clear or sunny conditions when you need maximum grip. If you must race in rain, make sure you have the correct tire set equipped at the Garage beforehand.

How to Read the Racing Line in NTE

Every race course in NTE has a highlighted racing line on the road. This is not just the path — it is the most efficient route through the track. Paying attention to it is one of the most important things you can do.

  • Blue sections: You are on a straight. Accelerate and hold top speed.
  • Yellow sections: A corner or braking point is ahead. Ease off the gas and prepare to turn.

Follow this line at all times and you will avoid crashing into walls, going off track, and mistiming turns. Ignoring it is one of the most common mistakes new racers make.

NTE Racing Tips to Win Every Race

Here are practical tips that will improve your results across every race mode:

  • Always repair before racing. Do it from the pre-race screen. Never enter with low durability.
  • Follow the colour-coded racing line. Blue means go fast. Yellow means brake. Do not ignore it.
  • Avoid unnecessary drifting. Drifting kills momentum in NTE. Decelerate before a curve and turn cleanly without the handbrake for better lap times.
  • Hug the inside line through corners. Taking the outside adds distance to every turn and that adds up fast over a full race.
  • Use the position reset if you crash. If you spin or wall-tap badly, hit Position Reset (R on keyboard, D-pad Up on controller) to snap back onto the track instead of trying to recover slowly.
  • Complete both side objectives every race. They can triple your total Fon payout from a single session. Even if they look difficult, attempt them every time.
  • Set weather to clear when in doubt. Wet or snowy conditions are harder to drive in, especially with standard tires.
  • If a race goes badly early, restart. You only earn rewards for finishing first. A ruined run is better abandoned than completed in fifth place.
  • Speed covers up a lot of mistakes. If you are not great at cornering, a higher top speed lets you catch back up on straightaways.

PvP Racing in NTE: Online Battle and Friends Mode

Once you are comfortable with the PvE teams, PvP racing opens up new rewards. In Online Battle, you get matched with up to three other real players. The ranked system resets every 65 days, and higher placement can earn you pull currency alongside the usual Fons.

For Online Matches, select Match from the race menu and wait for opponents. For Friend Matches, invite players from your friends list and set up the race privately.

PvP achievements for racking up wins can also be farmed in both Online Matches and Friend Matches, making them a reliable source of Annulith over time.

Character Skills That Help With Racing

Some characters in NTE have passive skills that directly benefit your driving and racing performance. Jiuyuan is the standout example — her passive ability significantly reduces the durability lost when you crash, making your vehicles much tougher to break during intense races.

Having Jiuyuan in your roster means your car takes less of a beating on difficult tracks like Tempestas or Uncrowned King. Check out the Jiuyuan Build Guide for her full kit and how to get the most out of her.

Building the right team can also help across all game modes. See our best team compositions guide for NTE to find setups that work across combat and hobbies alike.
