Ayato performs up to five rapid sword strikes. His Charged Attack consumes Stamina for a quick forward lunge slash. His Plunging Attack deals AoE damage on landing. Normal Attacks in their standard form are not a focus in his kit — their damage only becomes relevant when he enters the Takimeguri Kanka state from his Elemental Skill, at which point all Normal Attacks are replaced by Shunsuiken rapid slashes infused with Hydro. Normal Attack talent level does not affect Shunsuiken damage directly, making it the lowest priority to level.

Elemental Skill – Kamisato Art: Kyouka

Ayato enters the Takimeguri Kanka stance. In this state, his Normal Attacks are replaced by Shunsuiken rapid Hydro slashes that deal AoE Hydro damage. Each Shunsuiken hit that deals damage grants Ayato one Namisen stack, up to a maximum of four (five at C2). Each Namisen stack increases Shunsuiken damage based on Ayato’s Max HP. This is the primary source of his DPS and the heart of his kit. The stance lasts for 6 seconds, and during this time, Ayato cannot use his Burst or Elemental Skill again — only Normal Attacks. He also cannot use his Burst until the stance ends, which is why always use the Burst before the Skill in every rotation. When the stance ends, Ayato leaves a watery illusion at his position that taunts nearby enemies before exploding for Hydro damage.

Elemental Burst – Kamisato Art: Suiyuu

Ayato unveils a garden of purity, causing Bloomwater Blades to rain down continuously on enemies within a wide AoE, dealing Hydro damage. While this field is active, the Normal Attack speed of all party members within it is increased by 15%. The Burst has an 80 Energy cost and 20-second cooldown, and it can operate entirely off-field — Ayato does not need to stay on the field while it is active, making it excellent for switching to other characters mid-rotation. The Bloomwater Blades also apply Hydro to enemies, which can enable reactions even when Ayato is not the active character.

Ayato is excellent at C0 and does not need constellations to perform well in most content. That said, C2 and C4 are meaningful upgrades worth pursuing if you enjoy the character enough for further investment.

C1 – Kyouka Fuushi: Shunsuiken DMG is increased by 40% against opponents with 50% HP or less. This activates his A1 passive permanently at lower HP thresholds rather than requiring the passive to be unlocked separately. It provides a consistent late-fight damage boost as enemies lose health. A solid upgrade, particularly for prolonged boss fights.
C2 – World Source (Best Support Constellation): Namisen’s maximum stack count is increased from 4 to 5. When Ayato has at least 3 Namisen stacks, his Max HP is increased by 50%. The Elemental Skill is his most important talent because Shunsuiken damage scales directly with its level. This is the number one priority and the talent to crown first for maximum investment. Always Burst before Skill — never the other way around — Ayato cannot use his Burst while in the Takimeguri Kanka stance.
